Thanks for sharing. There is so much to see in Broken Hill, bought back some memories - we were there in 2006. We are heading out to the Big Red Bash in 47 days (not that we're counting lol). Leaving our van at home and taking a camper trailer :)
Big Red Bash is definitely on our list after Mundi Mundi, enjoy. Don't think we did Broken Hill justice really, it was so busy and the rain closed some of the parks and walks. After the Bash we were going to stop again but they were sand bagging that day, expecting lots more rain, and advised we should keep travelling. Will hopefully get back there soon. Sharyn
Hi Sharyn, lets face it the rain gods love you. Nice video but too short as we have to wait another week for the next instalment. In your instagram account you mentioned Covid and cleaning red dust. How are you feeling? Did much dust get in the van. We have added the domestic dust system to our van. Looks like our van will be ready at the middle of July but I'm in Canada till middle of August. Soon as I get back we will be off on our maiden mini trip. I'm glad that that van didn't hit yours. Some people are so ignorant and stupid. You'd think that they would at least have apologised. See you on the other side.
Hi Harry, we are actually feeling ok, John has a cough and I'm just tired. I think we got off easy with the dust because of the rain. It really hasn't been too bad to clean. Hope you have a great time catching up with family in Canada - must be great to travel again. I didn't want to put it in the video but those people who nearly hit us were so rude that initially they suggested it would be best for them if we moved our campsite! It was one of the reasons we left so early next morning for the Bash - we just didn't want to see those people again. I had contemplated butting Broken Hill in with the Bash video but I thought it would be too long listening to me chatter! Safe travels, enjoy. Sharyn
It wasn’t the official s that helped them out it is us who were parked next door to u I was surprised that u both come out had a whinge and went back in your van and didn’t even offer to help I felt very sorry for them as they were a older couple that haven’t been vanning long Sharon the new Karen ? Otherwise great video ✅
There was perhaps a little more said that you didn't hear on the other side of the van. I choose not to go into further details on the video on purpose. I did go and get an official and he said after the incident that he had helped them out. After what was said to me at the beginning I stayed on the other side of the van out to the way.
I offered to help but he refused. Eventually an official turned up and told him he would have to unhitch and then tow his van straight ahead instead of turning around us. I stayed until he pulled away.
Maybe if you understood what had actually happened you would be more sympathetic to their situation. The man driving the van abused them verbally after my parents offered their help after they had almost hit their van due to their irresponsible driving. It is incredibly rude that you have decided to assume she is the person in the wrong in this video and i hope you gather more context in the future before deciding to call someone a Karen. Always room for improvement hope you get there!
@@reganhowell3133 I don’t know what this has got todo with u as u weren’t even there I was sympathetic that’s how I got to be there and helped the poor buggars I was there the whole time and they could not be more thankful I think theirs been bit of a porky pie been told anyway as I said great video thanks Karen
Since you think we were 'hiding' in our van during what happened, this is my account... Originally they came across our campsite, too fast in our opinion and started to turn too early. They stopped and I'm not sure if they were stuck but John went to speak with him at his driver window. We thought he should reverse back. In response (I don't know exactly what he said to John except it was very positive), he accelerated again. While the car didn't move while he was excelerating, the van swayed very close to our kitchen and up onto our floor matting. I yelled very loudly to stop (as did John), which is when people started coming over. As you and others approached, his wife had 'words' with him, then she got out of the car, asked for someone to help him (I assume that was you), then she walked past me, got into her van and closed the door. We didn't know what to do and there was an official coming up the road with a yellow jacket on. I chased him, explaining we needed help, he came back and on the way back I asked should we pack up our van and move it out of the way. He said that would be the best thing to do. Obviously, during this time you and others were disconnecting the car and van. The noise you heard inside our van was me packing away the bed, table and also the external kitchen so we could move away quickly. I packed everything except for folding the bed box and lowering the pop top roof because when I came outside the car was being reconnected to his van. During this time, John was around the other side of the van where you were. He was with an Irish gentlemen who was camping in a roof top tent. We had never seen the tow ball set up the people had (I believe it was flat) and I'm told the Irish guy new how it worked and assisted then. Just because I feel like I need to prove that John was there the whole time: when the gentlemen asked should he release the hand brake for the caravan before driving off, that's when John realised he was not an experienced tower. Afterward everyone left and the official came to see us. He told me in his own words what had happened. Also commented that the gentleman had not followed the direction he was given when entering the park. The official then wanted to know if any damage was done and if we wanted to lodge a complaint. I don't doubt that the gentlemen was grateful to all who helped however I still stand by my statement that they should have a least said sorry as they drove off. Your statement saying how you all talked about us not caring or helping totally makes sense now, because next morning one person walking past the van made a comment and it made me feel uncomfortable and we couldn't understand why that comment was made. As a result we left BH earlier than expect. Also, just too clarify, we are not experienced towers in any way. Parking in that Broken Hill park with the rain was the most "off road" we had ever done. As you can see in the video, we didn't get much sleep that night because we were seriously considering going home as we felt totally out of our depth and we were worried that the Bash parking would be too much for us. I'm glad we did go but I have to say we were nearly sick when we had to back-in to the site the next day. We acknowledge that we need to do a towing course, and had been booked into attend one before the Bash. But it was cancelled and not available till after this holiday. I know this statement will make no difference to you but I wanted to put it out there anyway. Further, I deleted the details for the video about the first few minutes before publishing because I think the gentlemen and definitely the wife would not particularly proud of those initial minutes. Regards Sharyn

@@sharyns.shenanigans Actually the length is good as it keeps me interested and wanting more so there is the anticipation of next weeks instalment.
