I like the fact that this is a BSA air rifle and made here in Birmingham and perhaps BSA would consider manufacturing a quality springer/gas ram air rifle, something that had the status of the Airsporter of my youth ( 1960’s ). I’ve got 5 quality precharged air rifles but get a lot of pleasure from a modest springer that is simplicity itself to use and maintain but if BSA produced something a bit special I’d find room for it in the gun cabinet. Nice review.
I started my son, age 7, on a rat catcher with an adjustable AR stock. Light weight, not overpowered for garden plinking and whisper quiet, I fitted a weihrauch silencer. It's quieter than his nerf guns.
The Diana 34 that was reviewed a few weeks ago tempted me into purchase and I'm very pleased I did. Think the Diana is worth the extra over this. I've been shooting that out to 60yds and it's a superb inexpensive spring rifle. Oh and with a Victoptics S4 FFP scope which is excellent for the money and has a nice clear reticle.
My local gun shop sell loads of these, probably more than any other air rifles from any other makes. No doubt the grouping would be tighter with your right elbow rested as well as the left. I have to shoot like yourself at times and I swing like a pendulum 😁.
I don't think that I noticed any difference between the silencer and the lack of it but it might be different on the ground. When I was a kid I always wanted a BSA Buccaneer and I don't think that I realised that it wasn't very powerful as air rifles go just a BSA Scorpion in a rifle.
I just want to thank you for all your videos, which has helped me greatly get into this sport, still on lookout for a right air compressor but I'm sure you'll have a video about that too.
Silencer-no. Start with iron sights and then fit the scope. Rugged and light (which may make springer shooting not so easy). Self sufficient (no air supply needed). Good value and great starter.
Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one. As I’m old but new to this a video on how to actually order one and the law on delivery or how it works sending to a licensed shop near to you would be helpful.
As a 34-year-old man considering this as my first air rifle I’ve done this before, but as a young age on a holiday 12 or 13 and loved it, but never got back into it it will only really be for plinking would you recommend this one over the Gamo multi shot . ? ? ?
Yeah this is going to be my foray into pellet guns unfortunately my past prevents me from a proper licence which is a shame I live rurally. Price i pay off suppose
NZ calling: choosing between a Crosman Shockwave or Stoeger RX20 S3 both in .22 Thoughts or advice? Mainly targets, rats, but no birds or other mammals
Hi Andy, many thanks for all your videos I find them very intuitive. I’m after a recommendation if you could help. After my Daughter spotted a rat in our garden I ran upstairs and retrieved my air pistol (Walther c8) I think, which last saw the light of day about 20 years ago. After loading it with gas and pellets I managed to get a few shots off with no luck. This got me thinking, off I went to a local gun shop to trade it in for a Stoeger XM1. Over the past few months and lots of pellets later I’ve become addicted to the sport. I’ve contacted a shooting range within a reasonable distance from my house with the intention of popping along as often as I can. I’ve now decided to upgrade to something better than the 2nd hand XM1. My question to you is, with a budget of £1000-£1200 mainly target use what would be your recommendation. I do really like the BSA R10. Many thanks. Steve Keech.
I wish BSA would be more consistent withe their power output levels. For me this power level is where it should be and not 10.5 FPE of the more expensive spring/gas ram models. I found it strange Andy did not mention the power should rise when the action is bedded in as with the lower power more expensive versions.
Not a fan of single shot break barrels I'm 44 now haven't owned a break barrel since I was 21 lol although I did buy the umarex mini uzi break barrel my brother loved it sooooo much I ended up giving him to stop him going on I was starting to like it 😂😂🍻 right il shut up now 😂
They've never been much use on a spring gun because 95% of the noise is from the action and there's no muzzle crack like you get from a pneumatic. It's just a fashion to put a moderator on anything.
@@Kevin-mx1vi Yes i bought into that old rubbish too until i bought a Weihrauch HW95 with a factory silencer fitted......its virtually silent apart from a quiet "dunk". its all about the quality of the silincer.
@@noseyparker6622 Nice rifle ! And as I recall, people were putting moderators on HW 80s many years ago because it did actually quieten them. Maybe something about Weihrauchs that makes them have more muzzle noise than the average springer ?

Why didn't you use the supplied BSA scope? It would have been a better review if you had. By the way no difference whatsoever with that silencer fitted so a waste of time and money buying one.
A springer at this budget ! has to be a weihrauch .My new Weihrauch hw97k is more accurate than my BSA r12 ,But not as good as my 9 year old BSA r10.Result r12 returned ,
Another good review. For a claimed non springer shooter, you usually shoot pretty good in my opinion 😊 I have witnessed you firing brand new budget springers in the past, with far better accuracy than this gun and suggest that it is the good gun rather than you! Looking at the grouping you achieved and allowing for the fact that it is a new gun etc, performance is very similar to my Gamo whisper sting and scope combination: ok for shooting cans but not a lot else over 25 yards. I would spend not much more and look at a Weirauch. They last for years, are better made, last for years, have outstanding customer service and with even a budget scope are consistently accurate.
I still have my BSA Meteor that I got for my 13th birthday - I'm 63, so, 50 years old.
Wow 😮 👍
I LOVE that it is made in Britain ! Getting one !
Have you got one? If so how are you getting on with it?
My first air rifle, back in the 70s, was a BSA Meteor.
I have .22 Webley Patriot ( Made in England ) and love it^^Cheers🍀🥃
That'll be on an FAC then ?

if you trow a breakbarrel on a tripod ot bag ,changes are you get a low hitting shot ,becaus the barrel can open a little
looks a decent air rifle, by the way andy silencer on my laptop made no difference to sound level.
Well...ever since I joined this channel my wish list is just getting longer and longer 😅

A great rifle for what you get
For £40 more you can have a HW99S with the lovely Rekord trigger. £240 for a gun with a Gamo trigger unit? No thanks.
Made in England increased the price.
I can only agree, a good trigger is a must on any gun, BSA have never had the best of triggers.
Got to agree, budget rifle with a Rekord trigger. You still need a good scope such as a Hawke's.
@@captainadams8565 An HW99 will be a much better rifle all round, as you say add a good
scope and it will be far better value than any BSA/Gamo.
Is the HW99s a good rifle? I was thinking about buying one as I see good reviews.

Perfectly adequate over 35m for a budget springer.
What's better the BSA Comet SE or the BSA EVO and what's the difference?
Another excellent review Andy. As you seem so have a pretty good relationship with BSA now, any chance of a tour of the factory you recon?

Hi Andy BSA website says Meteor Super is spring not gas ram, Id like to know if thats a mistake as ive no interest in non spring rifles?
Noting your balance point is just behind the front of the scope….does the balance point affect accuracy?
Would you recommend this or pushing the budget a little further for the Hw99s?
Still waiting for a .22. BSA aren't keen on actually selling them it seems

BSA scopes are ok as long as you don't use them on a springer lol. They don't last they are better suited for Co2, Single Stroke Pneumatic or PCP's
Is this gas ram rifle like the meteor super ?
