great review as always! that looks like a pretty decent gun! and hey, having that big spring in it eliminates the need for air refills, fittings, tanks, adaptors, etc. a nice self contained unit. and the difference between filling it with air pressure or cocking it shouldn't be a deal breaker. after all, in the end, you're just pulling a trigger to deliver some air pressure to the back of the pellet. the pellet doesn't care where it comes from. ;)
I’ve been testing a few pellets on my gamo swarm hunter in .177. So far the daisy flat heads have been performing best. I like the 10x system that allows you to test 10 pellets at a time. I bought an extra cartridge just for that purpose. Great review!
Ace review. I really like the look of these. It would be great for my dad that due to arthritis now struggles with the awkward loading on his 177 Walther LGU. Gamo, for a long time have been alot better than what people give them credit for. My old 2006 Gamo CFX still puts out 10 foot pounds on the original spring and is every bit as accurate as my LGU, plus its much, much lighter.
I have the predecessor to this rifle the Gamo shadowmatic,177,10 shot tube magazine feeding a rising and lowering trapdoor. Yes,its a bit noisy but its a powerfull rat basher all day. Been super reliable too,had it for well over 10 years! Nice review of an updated version!
This video has just reminded me of a multi-shot air rifle I owned alongside my BSA and Dianna in the early 90s (oh, and I’ve just remembered I also had a Weihrauch side lever). Anyway, the multi-shot rifle I had was an absolutely awful Chinese thing. The stock was more orange than wood colour but as it had a 10 or 12 shot magazine it appealed to me no end as a 13 year old lad! I can’t remember exactly if it was a break barrel or side lever, but instead of working in the same way as the Gammo in this video, You used to use the barrel/lever to pump up a little air cylinder and then manually turn the magazine. It was the worst thing I have ever used, seen or heard, so it was good to see the idea being used in a gun that doesn’t look like it was plucked of a tree!
Perfect rifle in my opinion, the synthetic is light, nice grip, accuracy perfect, and the magazine just the cherry on the top, in my opinion this is the best rifle you're going to get unless you start paying silly money, i prefer break barrels anyway, outstanding gun, wouldn't be bad at twice the price.
Mine hits harder than what he says no doubt. I'm in the USA though. Mine says 800 with lead. And my rifle was dead on within 2 mags. It really does shoot so dang good. Feels good in hands. I can't say enough good things about this rifle. 134 I paid
I have the updated version called the bone collector in .22 cal with wood stock $319 in the USA 🇺🇸. I made a moderator for mine see on my channel and it works . Thanks Andy . Peter
Man! this is The Thing! Crikey! Some guys at GAMO got it right this time. This thing ought to sell very very well. (Hell I bought it) I'll tell you this Andy: I saw a 20-something kid in America review his. He got it by simply going to Wal-Mart and buying the "most expensive air rifle" the store had. Totally clueless. Well he lucked out in my opinion. So, I decided to dig down on this gun and that's how I found you, which is what I really needed. Not some youngster. The "game changer" (hate that expression but it fits here) is, of course, the 10 pellet magazine for...wait for it! a break-barrel??!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK Andy. Here's the thing. The scope which comes with the rifle is spot on. You hardly need to sight it in. Even The Kid was close. He had to adjust it slightly and then he was hitting the center of the target just like you are. This is incredible! Really. The effing gun is perfect right out of the box. I'd be nervous if The Kid was having a good test and you didn't. Or vice versa. But so far it's 2 out of 2. Crikey!! I'm gonna buy one. Oh almost forgot. GAMO thought to sell it with a Real Wood Stock. Not that nasty plastic thing. The Varmint wood stock is just what I wanted, as an old timer (I'm probably your Dad's age). I've never gotten used to the modern materials deal...you know? P.S. the American model is 1,000 feet per sec (w/ alloy pellet). That's rated at 17.70 ft/lbs or 24 J. UPDATE: I just purchased mine from GAMO direct. $149.90 + $18.98 FedEx + $14.86 Tax = $183.74. Sweet!
Great vid again andy. That is some accuracy as well, especially with the arc of sub 12ftlbs .22 cal. The. 177 i bet will be like a *laser beam " with that flatter trajectory. Hatsan do a version of this called the Speedfire. I do love the build quality of Hatsans and you get alot for your money with Quattro trigger system, fibre optic sights, recoil reduction system and an auto safety and 11mm-20mm dovetails also. All the best from lancashire
My first since my old Benjamin .177 when I was a boy 65 years ago. I've been watching some of the iguana hunters in Florida, and then looking at various makers and models, in a half-hearted way. Watching various reviews. Saw one this evening (see my review above) and that led me to Andy.
I have a first generation Swarm and it is more than I expected in accurateness. The magazine reloading spring broke once and Gamo replaced it no problem with up dated spring and reloader for free. More often than not I reach for the Swarm before I go for my Umarex gauntlet which I do also enjoy using.
Nice review Andrew , people don't realize how accurate the Gamos are now days. I'm here in the states and my magnum gen 2 is very accurate and up to 29 fpe. My original magnum .22 not as strong ( 24 - 27 fpe ) but insanely accurate with terminators .
This was my first gun, It is a great gun for a beginner ! Started my obsession. The person that sold it to me said. When your comfy and want to upgrade, bring it back and you can part exchange. Crazy guy !! You don't bring your first kid back, when you have a second one 😂
Morning all . I still own an El gamo . 22 Magnum I bought back in the Seventies . It still fires well and just as accurate as it was whey back when .Relax enjoy the shoot you can't go far wrong with a springer .............. Nice review Andy keep them coming mate .
Good call, with the AK 🤔 like the other guy love a good springer me, always have ever since I used to drawl over the latest models when I was a lad,in our local gunshop was a real traditional good shop, but sadly no longer, but now we've got the internet,oh well ! nice video as usual, welcome relief.thanks and atvbDave
That 'out of the box' grouping at 40m with a .22 springer is amazing, even without the autoloader gubbins! Looks like a good reliable system though being a bolt-on, looks clunky. However, having proven the process hopefully they can get it looking slicker with future generations. Hell of an outfit for the price. If they can do all that for
Gen 1 Swarm System doesn't have "recoil advance" so it is possible to double load a pellet. With the Gen 2 Swarm System they've fixed that. If they're selling that as new they're getting rid of some of their old inventory. Other than the low quality scope it's a great gun and I love the wood stock.
Hi andy, had one in 177, absolutely fantastic gun loved it, but unfortunately build quality is shocking, it was very accurate mine was gas ram, 11 ft pound, after 3 months dropped to 9, plastic breech block developed a fault, when striped packed with black grease causing desiling, cocking arm made a masive score on the gas ram, piston seal very poor, split when factory assembled, it was one of my favourite guns, i think if it was put together with better quality it would be a winner, mine is currently out of action thanks for good review
Hi andy i already own one but you described it as a spring gun when it is a igt inert gas technology gas ram and the trigger is plastic and not metal but as you said it is a budget gun and manufactured to a high standard of quality yes it is a bit loud and not really suitable for the back garden but for hunting and pest control that is not a problem i would recommend putting a ao scope on it i have the harke vantage 3-9x50ao on mine and it is perfect i am 60 now and first started shooting with a spring gun when i was about 12 but now i am mainly a pcp man the advantage a spring gun as over a pcp is that there is less to go wrong and you don't need take all the accessories with you so if you go camping and want to shoot a few rabbits for a nice stew around the camp fire then a spring gas ram gun is the perfect choice great review as always andy just one thing we are humanity hominids ascending from our true ancestors the great apes migration colonisation time evolution civilisation the material field the status quo but please remember not to give a chimpanzee a live hand grenade because it will pull the pin lol all the best mike
I have one of the older ones in .177, but side by side, I couldn't tell it apart from this one. Mine has been very accurate and reliable, although I have heard of some people having utter nightmares with them. It is very lairy if you get the wrong pellets, but if you stick with heavy and expensive, it's great. I really like mine, as does everyone else who's ever shot it, but I can appreciate there are quite a few out there that were knocked together at siesta time.
My first gun for a while was a Gamo whisper sting kit. Priced at £162.00 then for the complete kit, it has given me hours of fun. I shoot mine at 30m and consistently achieve close groupings. I do find that it shoots ok out to 40 and 50m, but to be absolutely honest, I simply have better guns for these distances. What makes the Gamo special? It is light, not just in terms of weight, but also the cocking mechanism. So for a couple of hours plinking and 67 year old arms, it is ideal. This new gun, with the magazine, wooden stock and better one piece mount, looks like an absolute bargain and I would dearly love one. In regards to Andy not being familiar with springers! Someone of your age Andy must have fired a few in your time. Combine that with being a pretty good shot in any event, your grouping with a new rifle seemed pretty good to me. Another great review, but sadly not for me. I have a Weirauch 97k on order, a Weirauch 80 in my cupboard but I would consider this item if I ever sell my whisper sting.
Gamo have done it before (40 years ago), I have an ASI (the importer for Gamo in the UK) Paratrooper Repeater. It has a tube mag feeding a pop up breach. It was a bit pellet fussy as the pellet length had to match the depth of the pop up, and you could only really use domed diabolo pellets, but it worked well enough. It was also offered in more traditional wooden stock and sold as the 'Sniper'. There is also the Artemis SR900S sidelever, with a rotary mag.
Jus got this but it's the hunter version with no baffle jus a huge muzzle. Shoots great. 4x32 scope. Wish I got the 3x9x32 or 40. Update. The rifle shots crosman hp, rws extra point and round head exactly the same. No need to re sight the scope each time. Never in my life has that happened. So dang happy is this guy.
I REALEY LIKED YOUR SHOW ON THE GAMO VARMINT SWARM, THE ONLY THING THAT BOTHERED ME IS ITS NOT A SPRINGER IT HAS A GAS PISTON NOT A SPRING, MAKES IT A LOT BETTER. I HAVE BROKEN A LOT OF SPRINGS SO I GOT A GAMO WITH A GAS PISTON AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR GREAT REVIEWS. JIM H.
definitely one to add to the cabinet. hatsan also do a couple of similar versions. both break barrel and an underlever version. never seen one used though. that gamo is nice and accurate

Great review, thanks. I'm looking for a new springer for some light pest control around a smallholding, plus some fun plinking and reviews like this help no end. Might now be treating myself next week!
Andy you’ve done it again. I bought the GX40 on your review. Great gun and now you’ve forced me to open wallet surgery again. Thanks buddy all the best. PS the VS is a gas ram not a springer.
I was a late starter to PCP, so from about 1958 until about 2009 I only used springers. My favourite being the HW80 which I used from the 80s until 2009 when I acquired my first PCP a BSA ultra I now have 2 Ultra’s. I still fetch out the elderly HW80 and let it air it’s lungs.
@@andyb8501 I also had FWB 124 sport which was an accurate rifle but it was a bit of a B regarding scopes trying to walk backwards off the rifle, once an arrester block screwed on behind the scope it stopped its wandering backwards.
Greetings Andy ! I've got something to say ? It's freezing 🥶 had heating on since I arrived back from the Sudan 🇸🇩 ..... Got around , even though I can't walk anymore .... Great tan as well ... Great review Andy , fine rifle .. crack shooting...... it's a winner. .... take care 🙂 cheers Simon
Have a Gamo break barrel .22...gas ram , suppressed barrel, fibre sights, synthetic stock, was £85 a few years back, good back up when you run out of ar.
Good review as ever. Kudos for recognising the insensitivity of reviewing the AK. The Varmint looks a fine gun, though I would have to have my Walther LGU ripped from my hands before I'd buy one. That said, the Varmint is a big temptation. Seems that you've finally got the springer bug, Andy, PCPs are great guns, but springers are the real thing when it comes to fun.
how is it insensitive? its been used in every major conflict since the 1980s(the 74 model). if it wasnt insensitive to review it during the gwot in afghanistan why would it be now?
I do love classic line rifles too, with straight lines, without belly under the stock. Btw. You should try Evanix AR4K. Very compact, lightweight, accurate even at 100 yrds, fast repeating system, and classic feel wood stock.
I have a similar rifle to that as well! Except mine is called the Gamo Hunter Swarm 10x .22 Cal All features are the same! Crazy to see one that has a different name. 😄
I jus got that version as well. It's really good so far. The muzzle is huge, the only thing I want expecting. I thought it was going to be like this look
Great review Andy, I have the camo rocket swarm in 22 calibre, in a real tree camo only sold in the UK, and its gas. Other than that its the same great gun.
Even though I wish you have reviewed the gen 2 configuration I am still extremely happy with having the abillity to watch the review from you !! Thank you !! Also for what is worth I do not have problem to see an AK review ... actually I would be happy

Something that I noticed about these rifles is that they have some problems in loading from the cartridge. I love them and have... not telling how many. BUT... I noticed that if you take the cartridge out when charging it AND THEN put it back in and breakover again slowly, it loads better. And that's why I have more single shot breakovers.
I got a gen1 just like this and the mag broke once ! Also some pellets will not chamber all the way by themselve (Probe is weak) so you can destroy your breech seal in a few shots if you dont pay attention Other than troubles and the whole magazine I like it ! haha
Good one Andy. Reared on springers and have a soft spot for them. Always fancied the old Theoben SLR. Try shooting the Springer off a stack of soft cushions just cradling the grip and stock enough to guide the rifle then allow it to recoil. Shooting from a hard tripod will not do any favours for accuracy. Good review mate
Nice review Andy! I like this one. We could really use more spring piston, and break barrel models made to be repeaters. I understand the concept can be a bit more complicated to do with pellets than with bbs, but seriously if these manufacturers would just use some creativity it's certainly not an insurmountable design feature. As a matter of fact I've been wondering if anyone has, or ever will come up with a spring piston model where the spring piston is operated as a bolt action. Pretty sure someone could work that out, and it would be really nice for say bolt action historical replicas.
I've had one for a year now and it's a good gun but it's too loud for back yard plinking. I take mine with me to my permissions and use it once the PCP is exhausted of air. They do benefit from having a better scope on them & fitted a 3-9x40 hawke fast mount to mine.
Looks really good. How about if there was a jam, any idea if it would be easy to sort out? Also, any way to hand load rounds if in future the auto load system did go a bit wonky?

great review as always! that looks like a pretty decent gun! and hey, having that big spring in it eliminates the need for air refills, fittings, tanks, adaptors, etc. a nice self contained unit. and the difference between filling it with air pressure or cocking it shouldn't be a deal breaker. after all, in the end, you're just pulling a trigger to deliver some air pressure to the back of the pellet. the pellet doesn't care where it comes from. ;)
I’ve been testing a few pellets on my gamo swarm hunter in .177. So far the daisy flat heads have been performing best. I like the 10x system that allows you to test 10 pellets at a time. I bought an extra cartridge just for that purpose. Great review!
How much you pay for yours? I'm finding best prices at £290
@@199compoundI just purchased mine from GAMO direct. $149.90 + $18.98 FedEx + $14.86 Tax = $183.74. Sweet!
I used to have a Gamo Paratrooper with "tube" magazine back in the day. It was actually my first air rifle
I've got the magazine but the rifle seems to have disappeared.
I had the single shot Paratrooper as my first air rifle.
Bought one in November..Great accuracy & a pleasure to shoot..
True that.
(Hell I bought it)
I'll tell you this Andy: I saw a 20-something kid in America review his.
I guess that's their modern answer to their EXPOMATIC model with the top-rail tubular magazine from the 1980's.
I'm so glad there was a review about my first rifle I'm about to buy!
Wow that was nice of them.
Nice review Andrew , people don't realize how accurate the Gamos are now days. I'm here in the states and my magnum gen 2 is very accurate and up to 29 fpe. My original magnum .22 not as strong ( 24 - 27 fpe ) but insanely accurate with terminators .
Great review!!!
Gamo has already upgraded this system. In the GEN 2 the mag lays flat. And as a benifit it also has iron sites
I like gamos, I’m glad you reserved your judgment till after testing.
If they can do all that for
I don't think you can buy the bare rifle anymore, just the package as it's not a shop package but a Gamo out of the factory package.
Neither does all gen 2’s, only the 33 mm piston guns.
Well done Andy, the one I was waiting for. Really enjoy your reviews.
Got a gamo swarm varment powerful and very accurate Great rifle for the money 😊
Would you recommend it
I have not use mine in years but I may take it out today.
It's loud and packs a punch!
Great video as usual Andy, they are quality rifles worth every penny, I have the gamo swarm and it's fantastic quality for the dosh.
Great to see your genuine joy in using a springer. Excellent review as always.
the rotary feed is great brings back memories of the asi paratrooper repeater
First time that I’ve seen a springer with a magazine. 10 out of ten Gammo.
@@engineeredlifeform well I thank you for the information. Even at my old age I can still learn new things. Much appreciated.
IIRC there was also a BSA springer repeater back in the early 90s?
@@marty8535 wow thanks for letting me know.
Wow a air rifle with a barrel that breaks how sarcastic
Great vid on the strength of this I have just ordered my first air rifle it was the loading cartridge that did it for me will update when I receive my Gamo I canny wait 😀
Really look forward to my Friday morning AAR Reviews! This is a real ground breaker for springers and I’m sure will sell in large amounts, another extremely well presented and informative video!👍🏻🤗
Thanks great review, I hope the full power version is as accurate, I liked seeing you truly enjoying shooting, nice to see such an honest first hand experience.
My daughter (11) just started shooting. i got her the trusty daisy powerline 880. i had one , hell everyone when i was a kid had one. anyways i picked up the gamo varmint and sweet jesus. that thing is no joke. No tin can is safe at my house lol.
Delightful shooting , welcome back to gas piston springers
An amazing, affordable, and accurate rifle! Great review Professor Andy!
Not being an airgun user, I find it funny to comment on the 'noise'. I use Centerfire .22 , 6.5 Creedmoor and 338 Lapua and those really make noise :). Great video, always interesting content!!
Thanks Andy a good honest review of what seems to be a quality rifle.
Great review, thanks. I'm looking for a new springer for some light pest control around a smallholding, plus some fun plinking and reviews like this help no end. Might now be treating myself next week!
The Gamo break barrels are awesome. Fun to shoot due to the recoil and kick, accuracy, and price. The Bone Collector Gen 2 is another awesome gun.
Love the wood stock on that one 😁.
Thank you Andy for this new lecture, I am always learning something new in your channel, regards
I'm glad it's got instructions on the correct way to put it in. Putting it in the wrong way and cocking it would cause all sorts of problems.
Haha , loved my old HW80 as well as my Feinwerkbau Sport. happy days.
@@andyb8501 I also had FWB 124 sport which was an accurate rifle but it was a bit of a B regarding scopes trying to walk backwards off the rifle, once an arrester block screwed on behind the scope it stopped its wandering backwards.
Had a Gamo air rifle, really great and value for money.
Glad you’re staying apolitical Andy! 👍🏼
@@RekzysTheTitan Aah, I used to think that you went on for no good reason about some of the posts you get, Andy. I was wrong.
I got the .177 version it's great knocks the pigeons down every time 👍
I do love classic line rifles too, with straight lines, without belly under the stock.
Btw. You should try Evanix AR4K. Very compact, lightweight, accurate even at 100 yrds, fast repeating system, and classic feel wood stock.
I have a similar rifle to that as well! Except mine is called the Gamo Hunter Swarm 10x .22 Cal
All features are the same!
Crazy to see one that has a different name. 😄
I jus got that version as well. It's really good so far. The muzzle is huge, the only thing I want expecting. I thought it was going to be like this look
We have a different barrel also. No suppression at all
Good morning Andy. I really like this rifle. It seems very easy to work with. Perhaps a slider reload might be a better option. 🤔
Great review Andy, I have the camo rocket swarm in 22 calibre, in a real tree camo only sold in the UK, and its gas. Other than that its the same great gun.
I have a Gammo Maxxim Elite and i love it
Good video! Looks like a fantastic piece of kit. Personally, I'd pick a good old fashioned springer over a PCP any day of the week.
Thanks Andy. I have this rifle with the synthetic stock. It’s good to hear an experts opinion on it.
I have the small game .22, I love my Gamo air rifle.
Ha cuantos JOULES !! De potencia está esa GAMO hay en su estado !! Saludos desde España !!
Excellent review as always although I'd love to know how the loading mechanism actually gets the pellet from the magazine into the barrell
Think this could be my first air rifle thanks for the great review
Even though I wish you have reviewed the gen 2 configuration I am still extremely happy with having the abillity to watch the review from you !!
Thank you !!
Also for what is worth I do not have problem to see an AK review ... actually I would be happy
Wow Andy now this could very be the one for me Iv got a pcp air arms s410f and boy do I love it but probably like most on here I started life in airguning with a springer and truth be known your first love never really leave ya.Great review all the very best 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
As my old springer (pretty much an antique really) looks like a write-off for consistency, I'm looking for a replacement. This is looking ideal.
I use a gamo whisper X swarm for target practice love that loading system. It's a really good quality gun 👍👌
I got one, and a HW 97, 177, gamo 22, both good guns
I don't think there's much to complain about there 👍
I'm sure most of us agree with your sentiment about the Ukraine right now.
Thank you for this. I’ve been waiting for this since I asked you about it at the shooting show.
'Clear it into the ground?' Dry firing a springer?
That’s a handsome firearm and a convincing review. Thanks Andy.
I bought the barricade atfer watching this. At that price - impressive. Even the supplied scope was quiet acceptable.
very good groups for the scope not mounted to the barrel - just make sure that thebarrel locks in the same place every time.
Great review, accuracy 👌 and a good looking springer well done Gamo.
I got a gen1 just like this and the mag broke once !
Also some pellets will not chamber all the way by themselve (Probe is weak)
so you can destroy your breech seal in a few shots if you dont pay attention
Other than troubles and the whole magazine
I like it !
It's a GAS RAM NOT A SPRING
I've had one for a year now and it's a good gun but it's too loud for back yard plinking.
I take mine with me to my permissions and use it once the PCP is exhausted of air.
They do benefit from having a better scope on them & fitted a 3-9x40 hawke fast mount to mine.
Great review as always and what an interesting and good looking rifle.. thanks Andy kind regards Dave 😁👍👍👍👍
That's a lot of air gun for the money! Great review.
oh it's better here in USA I just purchased mine from GAMO direct. $149.90 + $18.98 FedEx + $14.86 Tax = $183.74. Sweet!
Great show and information. Like Gamo air rifle.
Andy, as always a terrific review.
Looks really good. How about if there was a jam, any idea if it would be easy to sort out? Also, any way to hand load rounds if in future the auto load system did go a bit wonky?
I haven’t bought an air rifle since my teens ! I’m
57! Gees these are a fantastic gun , 🐇 fox 🦊 and rats all in danger zone with this one
Springer on a bench rest is always a shock😂
Putting your hand under the stock will help a lot
The idea of the loader is actually pretty good hey
