I don't mean anything by it, but it's a little funny that you basically said half this loadout is optional. It just goes to show that there really isn't a single build for every single person. It's always best to start somewhere and tweak things to your liking and best personal effectiveness. Makes even loadouts where half of it is optional valuable starting points to illustrate.
I've been running guard dog, arc thrower, machine gun turret, and anti tank sentry. Its given me strong results so far and is just super fun. Tenderizer primary, Lance for stun and impact grenades. I'm interested in trying the gas though.
I didn't think of it until I randomly ran into and picked up the arc thrower but it is amazing as cc and support, obviously great at clearing streets but also really good against harvesters and armored squids, great range and stunlocking capabilities. If you're with someone with a heavy enough weapon to clear out the things you stun or can't get all at once, you can be unstoppable

Gas grenades make great choke points in the closed off city areas

explosive crossbow, stalwart, jetpack, Expendable Anti Tank OR Commando
Is it really nessesary to bring the MG or HMG if there are MG´s in the city you can pcik up

Use Vitality enhancement solo if you are going to not use Hellpod Optimization. It's a flat 20% damage reduction.
Used to be, it got a stealth nerf
