Exactly! I could instantly tell which album most were from but dragging the name of the song from the darkest, dankest recesses of my old brain almost hurt with the effort!
You can make out the rest but song title comes the last minute yes :(
same. only Crown of Barbed wire and the price i couldn't get within the time limit, and i ended up giving myself full points on some that i "knew" the song but not the name, and i gave myself 69 (noice), but it should probably be a few less for the sake of the honor system. D'OH! Other than that i thoroughly enjoyed testing my Metallica knowledge.

I'm so happy that people are diggin' this trivia game. Now that I put in the work for this first one I can do one for almost any band since the 1-second clip won't disturb the copyright gods. Keep an eye out for more. I must admit though, I would have had a lot of trouble with any of these Metallica clips past Load. haha.
A Slayer, Megadeth or Sepultura would all be fun 😁🤘🏻
This was fun, dude! I've had a couple of drinking nights with the guys going through bands and their top fives on Spotify. You got me with the 72 Seasons stuff, won't lie.

@TheArtofGuitar I just did the quiz. Such fun! I got the practice tune haha. As for the quiz proper, as I predicted in my previous comment my results weren't the best haha, as I haven't listened to any Metallica in quite a while. I got 7 straight away for sure which equated to 24 points. I split the rest of my answers in to 2 categories 1) I just didn't get/ recognise from the clip, I had 5 of these and 2) Ones that I definitely recognised but I simply couldn't name them within the time given, I had 13 of these. Looking forward to the next one!

68. I crushed Reload and older but even tho I knew the newer stuff, I didn’t know the names of them. I guess that comes with downloading music instead of having a physical copy and reading liner notes and lyrics.
Downloading the song still shows you the title.
Not like in the Limewire/Kazaa days, when incorrect titles were everywhere.
Agree you can def tell once cds went away because I no longer stare at the back cover while sitting at my stereo. I used to memorize the song length too.
67 - didnt know the two Garage titles and took a few seconds for King Nothing.
The fact that it wasn’t enough for the highest rank and others scored even more makes me legitimately sad :/

They have descending power chords in half their catalogue, it seems like. I identified it as the transition between "Hit the Lights" and "The Four Horsemen" in the _Kill/Ride Medley_ from '98.

See I almost made that mistake, they both have very similar openings. Sad But True is also very similar, but the tone for TBA makes it easily recognisable
i got 60. i have listened to a lot of metallica these years. my spotify wrapped told i had 18,6k minutes on them this year

28 😢 The pressure got to me. I knew which album each one was on immediately, but I usually have to run through the lyrics in my head to remember the song title. I didn’t have enough time to do that after each clip.
Got all the first 5 album songs easily. Invisible Kid and Ain’t My Bitch I got wrong.
Got those two right (all of them, actually), but if there were deeper cuts from St. Anger, like "Purify" or "All Within My Hands" i would almost surely fail miserably.
My 12 year old son got a 35, My 18 year old got a 61... Not bad... I got

The two that stumped me and made me pause for a few seconds until i remembered the title without cheating (i did remember it, still no points) were "Crown Of Barbed Wire" and "Lux Aeterna".

as a casual metallica listener I'm happy with 30, i'm not that familiar with anything that came out after the black album (the only one i got was fuel I think) but other than that it was either 3 points or 0 points :')

51. Didn't know newer ones as well, and my brain couldn't go through the album lists of songs fast enough for other ones.
59 for me. The only one I had no idea about was Crown of Barbed Wire. Well, all the other albums I listened for years, the latest one obviously come out less than a year ago, so I think it's natural. There were 4 other songs which I knew what album they are from, I could even continue playing the song on guitar, but I just couldn't remember the title in that short time.
Damn, that was hard - and you didn´t even include Hangar 18 or Symphony of Destruction. Guess I´m a poser, then 😉😆But nice work - keep ´em coming🤘
62 points. First 5 albums are easy, including the covers recorded around that time. The ones I missed were because I haven't listened to 72S since it came out, and I forgot Load and DM existed.

42 here, I mostly missed the St. Anger ones because I haven't listened to it in years and haven't listened to that much since St. Anger. This was definitely fun though! Got me panicking and pissed off when I i didnt know it lol

68. I've never heard Ain't My Bitch or Invisible Kid, (yes I know I'm a casual and haven't gotten into that era of metallica fully yet😬) and i took just a bit too long to guess Fuel of all songs haha! Great song choices! I enjoyed this!

Fun game! I barely breached The Master! tier. i noticed that I recognized all songs I was going to recognize before the timer had started ticking, but some of the songs I just couldn't recall the title of (like most load/reload songs)

67 - Lost on the St Anger tracks. Some cheeky choices with the prince and crown of barbed wire but I got them.
Got top marks in all but three that I didn't know-Lux Eterna, Invisible Kid, and The Price. You either know them or you don't.
Perfect 75. The only one I didn't have before the question marks were off the screen was Crown, both because it's very new, and by far my least favorite on the record so I've not listened to it nearly as much.

Wow, this was so weird. Almost all the songs i could have joined in and started playing on guitar, but recalling the name under a time constraint made this hard for me.
73 points, I lost one point on the first one (brain had to warm up), and Breadfan. I think you should do this again but with more obscure moments in the songs because you chose a lot the start or the iconic moments of songs.

The only one I got post black album was Feul. Got 3s on songs from first 5 albums

I got 35, level King Nothing, not too shabby for just re-listening Metallica’s entire discography a month ago. The ones I got right were The Mechani… I mean The Four Horsemen, Ride The Lightning, Sad But True, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity, Frantic, Seek & Destroy, King Nothing, Lux Æterna, Escape, Jump In The Fire, Creeping Death and The Thing That Should Not Be.
Only 48 points, but at least I got full points on all the 1980s songs 😁 I’m not so familiar with the post-Black Album stuff, but still managed to score some points also with some of the newer songs.
74 😊 Took a second longer on Lux Æterna, so not a perfect 75 😮💨Guess listening to them religiously in highschool helped with the locking in those memorable riffs.
48 points here. I flubbed guessing Leper Messiah even though I knew it. Just couldn't answer before the time was up. And I missed the Load and St. Anger songs except for Aint My Bitch which was a half-guess.
I can 100% say with confidence I got 75, I like that you included the covers for some curve balls. You should do a harder one with no intros or main riffs next 😈

I got 66. For me, up to "Load", 1 second is even too much to give the right guess. For the "latest" albums, I would have needed 1 minute LOL. This well reflects that my preferred albums are the "old" ones.

That's pretty easy. 20 years ago I could name any KISS song after listening to just one second. But not the first second, but one random second from any moment of the song.
45. As far as I'm concerned, Metallica only released 5 albums and then retired, so my score is almost perfect. Didn't know any that were from the impersonators that took over after the black album.
