Tangmere in Leeds 07 07 2024 Bad Choice

With only a short stop in Leeds to change direction there was not going to be much time to wander around, so the opposite platform seemed the best with a train departure just before Tangmere was due to arrive. What we had not counted on was a terminating train arriving straight after and Tangmere following soon after, leaving very little time to change platforms. Choice of try to rush round or hope Tangmere stopped just a coach length further than she did. Time to dash to the same platform for the departure and already a green signal when I got there so rather than risk trying for a head on view and missing out altogether a view into the cab was made as she pulled steadily away.

I liked the cab shot - made an interesting change from the usual views. Surprised to see Tangmere at Leeds - thought she had taken over at Hellifield.

Thanks Tim It's rare to see steam in Leeds and I am setting off there soon as she is due through light engine to Carnforth. The cab shot turned out better than I expected.

1:56 there is a rail 2/3 way to left of frog. Looks like on 2nd frog to left of that same thing? Any idea why? Great video by the way ❤❤

Thanks Dave. There are a few bits of old rail left laying in the 4 foot as we call it (middle of the track) they change rails and do not take the scrap away, so they can be left ages before a scrap train goes and cleans up. It is not good practice really because they can move over time and I have known them to short out the rails. Years ago they had a purge on cleaning up and putting old rail outside the track if it could not be taken away, that seems to of gone by the way now.

Yes but even then I would wish it had vanished LOL Really wanted a nice side view of the departure. I was about to set off for the light engine back to Carnforth Unusually via Leeds and saw it left York an hour early so missed out again
