Fantastic! I’ve been going back and forth on what size’s to order for my VS kit. I still have my 1st Sonor kit (HiLite’s) I ordered in 1992 (22,10,12,13,16,14x7) before I joined DW. That was the fast Tom era lol (20x18,8,10,12,14,16 a slew of JC snares, edge and added a 22x16) I really want to “go big” on sizes on the next, and keep a 20” as well. Would love to see your Slave set up…Stanton’s kit (which I’ve had the pleasure to set behind) is kinda reverse idea, but very nice ❤
Thank you for the great video…fantastic chops BTW. You may have helped my only hold up in my ordering of this kit. Do you prefer the 24 over the 22? I was considering both a 20 and 24. I usually order most kits with a 20 and 22. Thanks!
Thank you, Jason! I don't have a port hole in the 24 Reso yet.. So it's really boomy and big, and it's different from the 22". I love it for the huge lowend it produces, but that comes with some cons that drummer needs to consider, like - 24" is harder to put in your car, your racktoms will sit even higher, or that non-ported boomy sound may not be suitable for some music. But i actually sold the 22" recently, to buy Maple Custom Yamahas :D so..... 24" comes with a price, but it's an amazing drum.
@MarcVintage. I really appreciate your candid and prompt reply. Excellent, real world point’s indeed. I ordered a Sonor HiLite kit in 1992, really wanted a 24, but the weight of that series is quite extreme. I became a DW artist in 1995 and chose both a 22x16, and 20x18, beautiful larger kit that John Good, dearly missed Johnny Craviotto helped me pick shell’s from the shelves, then Louie painted a custom lacquer color for me. I still have both of those kit’s. Another issue, the size/mass by the time you place a 24 in a caseI or already have flight cases built for a max 22! I just checked stock and they have a 24 and 22 and 20 avail! I’m going 10 12 13 16 18 and 24 and 20 BD’s. I will keep you posted! Thanks for your assistance 🥁 ❤
Thanks Brad! I’ve watched some of your videos the other day, you have great sound as well🙏 Regarding the mics, i’m using condenser mic Rode NT1 for the main natural sound, and older discontinued dynamic mic EV-ND868 for the lowend. 😎
got a question as a non drummer, is a 24x14 kick drum the same as a 14x24 bass drum? some people call it a 14x24 and some call it a 24x14 im just curious if thats the same size
I've placed them as low as i could where the T2 hoop almost touches the bass drum claw, but its still noticeably higher, i could feel it instantly. some tricks are harder to pull off, but i also raised my drum throne a bit, and that helped. Every coin has two sides :D
Damn man. I need a 24 for my kit. I have a 20, 10,12,1416 and I love it. I’m a little afraid to gig it though. Too many assholes at the bars. That’s what the Yamaha Stage Customs are for though haha
This is crazy, best sound I've ever heard from a kit. Tasty playing. I'll be rewatching this a few times at least!
Thanks Pa(u)l :) appreciate it.
Best sounding Sonor Vintage on UA-cam
Awesome tones and Dope groove, man!
Thanks man! 🙏
Beautiful sound and beautiful playing

This is killer. Great playing, fantastic kit! I play an SQ1. Cheers from Southern California!
Thank you! SQ1 are great drums, would love to have them as well :) Cheers!
Amazing sound. What you use in side of bass drum? I see Pinstripe on floor and toms... what head you use on bass drum? Thanks from Brazil
Goddam that sounds awesome but man, your playing is fantastic too.
Sounds very much like Bonzo's kit on Break the Levee. Nice!
Thanks for the compliment, man! 🤝🔥
Hey, are you using tune bot? can you share your readings?
Marku bravo!!!
Děkuju!

Wow!!! Sounds fantastic!! Incredible playing as well! What mic are using on the bass drum?

Thank you, Marek! The two microphones you are using for your bass drum make a great combination. Amazing sound!@@MarcVintage

Hello there. Yeah its the same thing, i always sort drums by Diameter x Depth, it’s so confusing for me to see it the other way around 😁
that's nice as hell
how much higher do the toms sit with the new bass drum ?
I've placed them as low as i could where the T2 hoop almost touches the bass drum claw, but its still noticeably higher, i could feel it instantly. some tricks are harder to pull off, but i also raised my drum throne a bit, and that helped.
Every coin has two sides :D
Sounds great!
Thanks Matthias! ❤
