It’s the shape of the immersion blender, If you have one of the kinds that have a perfect lil bowl with the blade on the inside, it works . Still wouldn’t recommend 😅
You need a cup that just fits around the blender head, that way it stays contained and you can hold it more safely against the table and not in the air
I think the issue was that your immersion blender has holes in the sides (the one in the other video didn't), and the stuff was escaping through those holes...
The difference here is the shape of the sides of the hand blender, the one shown on the tiktok is more enclose and even but yours have like side holes and deep curves where the grains can come out, thats why its messy

Its not about double/triple layering the plastic, blades reach the plastic so you'll end up everytime with a grounded spice AND plastic, so its an immediate no-no.
Why don't you wrap the plastic wrap around the head of the blender where the holes are so the spices don't come out the open sides and then you use the plastic bag😄👍🏻
Smashing small things in a ziplock bag with something heavy is way more fun anyway. Sure, the results aren't even; but neither is this and it's less likely to injure you.
Don't use the hack with heavier and denser things like nuts instead use it for lighter things to blend, (small in size and should be lighter enough in weight). The force that sharp nut pieces exert on the plastic wrap would tear the thin plastic away. Simple logic 😂...
I wanted to believe! Because I only have an immersion blender. But actually I'm glad it failed because I really shouldn't be trying such things- I've already had major hand surgery from an accident once!
Best case: you shred up some plastic wrap into your spices.
Worst case: you actually hurt yourself by handling a rotating blade upside down.

My blender does this trick perfectly. I grind spices in it covering the top with small silicon lid. I just don't try to pull the lid down.

You can get a cheap coffee grinder for like $15. I use mine to grind chia seeds, flax seeds and psyllium husks into a fine powder.
The shape of the blender shown here is not like a cup. So chances are the hack won’t work.
Just flip the immersion blender upside down with the spices on the cutting board so trap the spices in the immersion blender
The immersion blender used in tat video has no gaps thats why they are able to make a good blend. Your blender has those gaps
