The clutch design of the train's belt drive is impressive and smart, so simple yet effective, i'm stokedd. To engage the clutch just slide the whole engine away from the axle to tighten that belt putting tension on it, ito open the clutch slide the engine forward a bit. Clever.
@@chE3z1 had to do some google / youtube research to see and understand what you reffered to, and yes, there's some similarities on how the clutch works with the belt friction, true. And was interesting to see and learn how they implemented it on lawnmowers. But still by far not as genius as that "train's" simple belt drive consisting of only three parts (engine, belt, axle) and the brilliant idea of a movable engine. It's even kind of self-adjusting, still works fine with worn out belts from the scrapyard ^^, thanks for pointing me at the lawnmower belt drive, just learned something new 👍

As a kid living on Long Island in the sixties and early seventies we would build things from lawn mower engines, and any wheels we could find. We built mini bikes, go carts etc. had to use our imagination and there weren’t that many cops around. Dad would get mad we used his tools but that’s what sons do to their dads 😅.

good vids. 1st guys making their own bikes of sorts was wild, and the riders never seemed to lose their caps???... 2nd people on the rail cart. i loved the simple clutch design of a sliding engine mounting rail... 3rd orange people on wooden bikes was hilarious. i wonder if they had any brakes? the guys riding look ummm enlightened somehow. cracked me up to think how it would feel to ride one... 4th of the skidding lumberjacks was pretty funny too. it's obviously a light type of wood but still risky as all flork. the funny part was when i realised how much work and how many loads it took just to make the wooden skidding rails.
Snap-on or Wurth should look at sponsorship. Those boys would build killer scooters. I myself am a big fan of the rat style and rust patina. Good work boys. Also well done to the chick who built the railwayrider.
mad max are real in indonesia , i came to bike meets a few time riding my own home made bobber i work myself, and most of self made custom bike and scooter that were attending (non garage build) were all mostly Mad Max Aesthetic look , rusty , mix match part , as is whatever metal i could find , whatever engine , second hand part third hand part forgotten abandoned part . the people are more fun and humble than the "classy proper one" .
Nope, just wood on metal (or even wood on wood). Lovely thing about wood is it will compress and actually get rather smooth. Add some oil or grease to reduce the friction and it works just fine so long as there isn't too much speed to make a lot of friction and heat.... It's how old wagons did it.
