i picked up war and peace a week ago as a result of yours and emma’s vlogs-and not to sound dramatic but i think it was one of the best decisions i’ve ever made in my whole life :,)
AHHH YAY!!! Not to sound dramatic either, but I completely agree!!! Life changing! 😂💕
Hi Caroline, you and Emma really help me to carry on with War and Peace. 🌼
I'm so glad!!
‘If you have read it, reread it.’ Very wise words, haha. Very late to watching this, but it’s so lovely! ❤️
Oh my God, thank you, thank you so much, I was really looking forward to this video.
Me too!!!
Me too
Me too
You're all the sweetest!!! Thank you! 🥰
Omg I've been waiting for This for so long!!!! YAY
♥️♥️♥️
Pierre is love - honestly he's the only one that makes me stay reading. I want to protect him at all cost!!!!
He is!!! 🥰
Congratulations a wonderful life in your new path. I love you sweet girl. Alice was my only book as a child. I a now 81 I still have the raggedy book, Alice was my love, but now I'm so in love with your "Red Rabbit", he is magnificent!!
Thank you so much Carol!
I'm very glad you love my Red Rabbit! ♥️
Forgot to say you and Emma have me reading W &P (trying) for the third time. I WILL FINISH!
YES YOU WILL!!!
In love with the book illustrations❤❤
I'm so glad!!! Thank you!!! ♥️
I just bought war and peace yesterday! I want to be able to watch your debates with some knowledge! Your excitement is contagious
Yayay!!!
I delivered my bachelor's on Wednesday, and celebrated by finishing War and Peace. I still have two exams left (and two years to go), but it is so nice to be done with that. W & P was so good and now I can't wait to read Anna Karenina
Yayyyy😭lysm,I aspire to be you with the passion of yours that you had with books
Awww I'll gladly share the passion!!!
Love this video 😍 I’m reading it too
Finally! I've been waiting for you! What a happy surprise 🥰.
lmk when i can finish reading the anna introduction to you 😉also love how fascinated you are that the van gogh bookmark is double sided LOL
YES!!! 😂💕
Thank you so much for the passion you exude for Tolstoy!
*We get Pierre's character just through the way he smiles* : Yes, read Nabokov's lectures on Russian writers as well as what he wrote on Dickens and Joyce and Flaubert.
Because of you I picking anna karenina next month on my birthday I hope I enjoy it too❤️
yay for another vlog!
This makes me second guess what I should read next, I had planned to read The Romanov Dynasty before starting war and peace, but your vlogs really make me want to read was and peace first. lol. so now I have a dilemma to solve. ahaha
Ooowww that's a hard choice! I'm always team Tolstoy though! 👀😂📖💕
if you want there is a very good documentary series on romanovs on youtube in starmedia channel; both russian and english narrative versions. same channel also has a series on napleaon's invasion of russia, main context of war and peace .
I wasn’t able to join in reading War and Peace these couple months because of my schedule with school, but your vlogs make me so excited to pick it up eventually! Probably on a break lol. I did decide to pick up Oliver Twist early as it’s a much shorter read and really enjoyed it!
I completely understand and relate! 😂 I'm so glad you'll be able to join us for Oliver Twist! 📖✨
I'm currently finishing my read of Anna Karenina and I already want to pick up W&P!
It is so nice to watch you talk about War & Peace with so much love! It makes me very happy 😊. Could you maybe share the link to the discord? I can’t find it in the description box and would really like to join 😬
Of course!!! Silly me forgot to put it in the description! 😂 discord.gg/3WcqQZX7
if I ever become a published author, I'd love for you to do the cover art because your illustrations are so, so beautiful💕
The red white rabbit is so cool!
Thank you so much! 🐇❤️
Man, I’ve gotta re-read W & P.
oh ive been waiting so long 💌
While you read, reminding me of the film 😍 BEL AMI
That book is a treasure
Soviet adaptation of “War and peace” is the best
Only actors don't match the characters. People aged 40 and 50 playing 20-years old ones was not the best idea...
👏🏻👏🏻🌸🌸
War and Peace is the great novel by Leo Tolstoy...
Could you share the particular quote you are referencing in B1-CH16?
🥰🥰😇
I just wonder how things would go if Holden Caulfield entered that fancy party? What would he think? What would he say? Would he want to talk with Pierre or Andrey?
Ooww that's a great question!
Pierre for sure!
can anyone please tell me which edition should I read plus which edition has the translation that you can easily understand... hope anyone reply.
My two favorite translator are the Mauds, and Pevear and Volokhonsky! Each pair are a married couple, and I found both very approachable! I also recommend finding a sample of different translations online, or maybe stop into a bookshop if you can to see which you prefer! I hope this helps, and happy reading :)

Can you recommend me some poetry collection books that would turn me on into reading poems again, please help 🥺
I would love to! My two favorite poets are Walt Whitman and Mary Oliver! As well as Robert Frost, Thomas Hardy, Emily Brontë, and so many more! I'll add this to my "videos to film" list! I'd love to talk more about my favorite poets and poems!
@@CarolynMarieReads wow that's great ,I want to buy at least one book to start off with, which one do you suggest to go for when I'm getting myself to read poems after a really long time??
P.s- which is the best poetry collection book you've read so far?
Carolyn, I hope you don't fall in love with someone like Prince Andrei! A man can be complex, deep and interesting without being supercilious, arrogant and cold. He must be an extreme Aquarius. It runs in his family, look at the old prince, how he mistreats his daughter Princess Maria, how he does not bother to conceal his contempt for the little princess, and the cruel treatment he gave Natasha when she visited after getting engaged to Prince Andrei, it was an ultimate insult, so calculated, pointed and aimed to hurt. And then, Count Rostov, who never takes his duties seriously and is only keen on enjoying good living, failed Natasha on two crucial occasions: one being his escaping from a difficult situation and leaving his daughter to fend for herself in such icy coldness of Prince Andrei's family, the other being when Natasha was being seduced by Anatole, under his very watch. I want to scream! Well, that's why Tolstoy is such an incomparable master. On the one hand, there is a man who despise women; on the other, a man who is too weak to stand up and protect his women.
What time is the debate this weekend?
It's on Saturday at 2pm EST :)
@@CarolynMarieReads thanks! Looking forward to it!
Hey
your Pretty :)
