They respectfully agreed to disagree, without escalating things turning them into hate. We need to see more of this and less of the heated/one sided arguments that MSM shove down our throats.
@@chexmix0101 Fox is no shining example, but I've definitely seen more of the "I'm going to raise my voice and drown you out until you stop talking" from the other examples mentioned. It is a problem all mainstream media shares, but it is more prevalent on the stations that wish to further censor people.
Truly this is such a good argument I agree with both of them yet disagree. I think they are both free minded but are to self centered to actually become truly free thinking in their day to day life’s, but that’s what I see ;).
I like watching debates like this where both people actually like each other regardless if they strongly disagree. Totally different vibe than two people with disdain bludgeoning each other back and forth!
Indeed, like those we pay to act like children on the worlds largest playground. People seem to forget that we can agree to disagree and still make progress.
They like each other because they’re in business together. There’s no substance to this debate, and there’s not meant to be. This exists so UA-cam “centrists” and right-wingers can pretend their politics are valid, meanwhile they both build their audiences and rake in the money.
@@JoeGamer81 didn’t Russel say this was an excerpt to a longer conversation? And yes I don’t consider it a proper debate, more of a conversation with elements of debating.
I hugely respect people who can argue different philosophy passionately without personally attacting each other. I'm am liking Russel more and more. I may not agree with everything he says but his open mindedness to engage with people of different world views is so bloody refreshing. Good on you mate.
Excellent yes, I don't agree with him every step of the way but that's ok. We're human beings and that's a human trait, even family don't agree with eachother always.
YESSSSS like there’s so much I know and want to say and learn about but formulating my words as elegantly as they do and not rambling or “drawing a blank” is so hard for me!
You can do it too! It just takes time to work on soothing our nervous system so it doesn’t get overwhelmed in the face of conflict or argument. It takes healing our traumatized systems (within our own body), then we can face different opinions and have healthy arguments safely. It’s hard! I still struggle and am working on it!
I love Candace so much , big fan, I like her more than I like Russell but here i have to say that she is talking about what we are currently as humans , and she is right , whereas Russell is talking about WHAT WE CAN BE as humans , the potential in us to be not just like animals self centered and focused on survival and ego but much more altruistic Chr8st like Buddha like state , I don't think Candace has the spiritual depth to see where he is coming from
This is literally one of the greatest debates I’ve seen simply because of how civilized it was. I didn’t leave this debate feeling angry at anybody which is amazing.
@@carypeterson9554 trust me I’ve watched plenty, I actually really love Jordan Peterson. but even for as amazing of a speaker as he is it can become super frustrating to watch simply because the people he’s debating are totally unable to understand or even try to listen to his points many of the times. It’s almost like he’s talking to a wall.
Just the fact that dialogue is open and honest makes this very legitimate. I dont agree w Russels brand of politics most of the time as i am a conservative, but dialogue and openess makes us stronger. Rallies us. Makes us think. Respect one another. Makes our world stronger.
Not sure you could call it "honest". That is a strange word to use about a debate. Each side has a history of developing their ideals and here they are just trying to win. That is a far cry from "honest". Debates are not honest, but they can be fair or unfair.

@@jocelyncams1826 yeah that last sentence was dumb as hell. This country used to have a substantial middle class, but that has been dissappearing over the last 20 years. That there are still people who have the american dream, doesn’t change the bigger picture.
You do realize Candice is con? She changed her whole perspective some years back to gain fame. Go back over 10 years, and she's saying the complete opposite of what she's saying now. She even sued for racial discrimination got paid, and now claims racism doesn't exist all for likes!
I always loved his comedy and then I started binging his videos of the recent months. What an absolut chad. He really does challenge anyone, doesn't kowtow to any existing order and speaks from the people's heart. He even likes Donald Trump for the right reasons and hates him for the right reasons, too. He's so crazy, that in these crazy times he's the only normal person left to speak truth to the people.
Desperately yearning for anyone in my life to be intellectual and open enough to have this level of conversation. 90% of people I know would shut down these arguments in a heartbeat out of sheer discomfort of complexity. Great discussion, very respectful and well done both Russell and Candace.
Candace's point on the "natural market" was spot on. That basic supply vs demand drive is a cornerstone of human interactions, it's impossible to divorce this from the human condition whether you're bartering chickens for flour or paying cash for a new jacket. Where this comes into play with individualism is the belief that most individuals can develop some level of skill which is valuable enough to the marketplace for that individual to become successful. When enough individuals do this, they create more successful societies.
So I lean towards conservative ways, first off mr. brand I do like listening to you. You don’t seam to lean to either or. You lean your own way. There are things I disagree with you on but I do believe you are a wonderful example of how these conversations should be. You two were respectful and laughed together at moments as if y’all were have fun. I think you’re a breath of fresh air.
Agreed, I don’t entirely agree with everything he says. But on a few manners he helps me understand his views, and sometimes I even agree. Reminds me we want to solve similar problems, two sides hashing it out, gives us a better hope at a more comprehensive solution.
@Harvey Zykowski politics is about group interests, because America is far less homogeneous now than it was back in the good old days, combined with how easy it's to form ideological blocs from selectively sought media. Every group is on alert to see if they're being undermined by another so there is no longer room for discussion but conflict.
@Harvey Zykowski no, that only applies to people of your own group (ethnicity, culture). When it comes to perceived "aliens" only treaties exist to ensure both sides could coexist without running into conflicts of interest. You do not discuss ideas with aliens, disagree all you want but humans are tribal and put their heritage first. All others are merely pawns or competitors to put down.
They both have supercharged processors. Few people process AND organize information as quickly as Russell and even fewer are capable of articulating their positions with such certainty and clarity. Even when Russell is unsettled on his position about an idea, he is sure of and comfortable with his uncertainty - rare intellectual courage.
we used to have debates like this during Ronald Reagan's time when Repubs and Dems were still able to be mature and can take wholesome criticisms and friendly banter with each other. Eventually it became more of a 'game' that adults play , a stupid passive aggressive game in polarized politics.
Even while passionately disagreeing, Russel and Candace aren't attacking each other. There's a foundation of well-meaning, and a dash of playfulness in the heat of the debate, it's very encouraging.
@@twobobruss There is no such thing as passive-aggressive in a debate. Because there is no aggression to be seen here. You strongly disagree with someone, you're hashing it out with words. It's not an argument, it's not personal. That's the biggest thing young people are not taught these days or understand. We can disagree for hours, speak loudly, talk over each other ect. But if it doesn't break down into a real confrontation, in the end, you show respect, smile, and shake hands then go grab a drink together.
We need more Russell brands in the world who can talk to people they disagree with and have respectable civil debate without labeling them or dismissing them before hearing them
Although I believe he let himself get baited by Candice's rehearsed controversial talking points. This interview seemed to go off the rails bc Russell believed Candice was being truthful, instead of continuing a conservative character she plays in the media.
@@fadenmac8092 I think Candace is being truthful. Not sure what you mean by her playing a character? She believes what she says wholeheartedly and is true to herself.
Absolutely. I totally agree with Candices point and I appreciate both of their passions. Russell’s ability to have a debate with someone that thinks totally opposite is what the world needs to be able to do. Being able to have respectful debates is what is missing, particularly in politics. Everyone is so quick to call everyone else names or argue when their views don’t match their own.
@@cfish0031 I think overall conservatives are just happy to be given a platform to share ideas instead of being cxl, blocked, or dismissed before they’re heard. It’s refreshing to see him sit down and discuss things with people he may disagree with because he wants to understand. Anymore it’s like the other side is afraid of even hearing ideas and opinions they disagree with

He was looking to get Candace riled up but she’s too good for him and can out express herself with a calm demeanour, much better than Russell. He just babbles bs.
I thought Candace won that debate hands down. She was absolutely correct. I grew up poor by the way, raised by a single mom. I have lived long enough to know how the world works. I put myself through college at age 34 sacrificed a lot by doing it too. I paid for my own education too. If people have worked hard to be successful, they have earned it by hard work. It's not fair to those that have worked their asses off for it just to be taxed more to help everyone. If you want to be successful financially, you can do it all by yourself. I did. I also help a lot of people as well. Taxing the rich more will not make a difference. They provide jobs, and without jobs everyone will be poor. Candace explained it well. Socialism has been tried in history, go study what a failure it has always been. Some of us that are older than the both of you, know it. Every young person has no idea how that feels trying to survive it, and that is where we are headed off of a cliff if you elect a socialist or Biden. Just being honest. Talk to someone who has been through it, before you push for it.
We must have watched different debates as Russell won hands down. She had nothing to say except expousing the same old greed and bs, that's what the matrix you're born into (but you don't even know it) does, it makes you a cog in a machine. Find out how currency creation works in a fiat fractional reserve banking system, the dice are loaded and the rich stay rich and generally the poor stay poor. If you truly believe that this current nightmare is taking you anywhere but to abject poverty you're uninformed. Wait till programmed cbdc is introduced and cash is withdrawn. The fact some of us older than you know is that it's the fundamental system which is flawed and corrupt it doesn't matter which ideology you apply, the WEF are correct we need to build back better just not how they believe.
I genuinely pity you if that is your world view. What a weak-minded, naive outlook on society, I suggest you lay off the conservative rabbithole and whatever bullshit narrative they try and push down your throat. Here's a thought experiment, a fairly simple one to highlight the absurdity of your understanding about the world: compare a child that is born in Africa to one that is born in Scandinavia. Predict me their future, and once you've done so, explain the reasons one is statistically more likely going to live a successful life compared to the other (i.e. better health, better education, better work opportunities). Once you've done that, explain what the fundamental causes of those differences are.
I worked hard too, starting at 14, but I also know others did not come from a stable, if single-parent household, but have been abused, and beaten down by parents, and by life. I am happy to help them. I have enough. I worked hard. My husband works hard, We are happy to share too.
Keep your hard earned money. I think russel is targeting billionaires only. But I think both are missing the point that human society needs to create a new economic/fiat system. We can't GO BACK to something that hasn't worked before. But there is always a way forward. And this system does have ingrained issues that are not going anywhere. It actually REQUIRES inequity to function and assign value to the dollar. It's a built in flaw. It needs to change.
She lied. How did she win? Candace owens needs to be held accountable for lying, she said over %85 and then follows by saying that's a fact arrogantly when here is the actual facts. " According to a 2021 White House study, the wealthiest 400 billionaire families in the US paid an average federal individual tax rate of just 8.2 percent. For comparison, the average American taxpayer in the same year paid 13 percent." Please study before you speak inadequately and act as if you know more when you clearly don't..... I'm surprised more people haven't pointed this out, shear ignorance. Please stop pretending you know things you don't. Poor people pay more taxes than rich. Rich people are known for avoiding taxes that's why russel said "that's a fact? " Cause he knew that was off.. he should have digged his heals in more cause he easily could out smart her.

She's also quite deceptive; married into British nobility then changed her political stance and became theeeeee voice of the conservative black female segment; she tops the charts in fact. It's not what you know, its who you know.
True. However, Russell didn't provide any evidence regarding the viability of his new political structure. Politics is basically a power survival game. Compassion is a side effect of excess power. Heck, even the most compassionate character, Jesus, is noteworthy because he had access to all the power and is immortal. I don't see how humans have ever acted otherwise, aside from a very few martyred individuals.
Bro that's a great idea in this generation, everyone with half a brain and half a heart is livid with our current political and societal structure and these two bring the best of how people feel from different sides, and they do so without flaking out

Both made solid arguments But to Russ I would offer the quote. “When you expect people to live by the rules and regulations that you have placed upon yourself.. you may find yourself frustrated with everyone.” -T. Robbins
I dig the T. Robbins quote you shared; however Russell is way off from a solid point by wanting to take money/wealth/profits, call it what you will, from any company/person and have it in the hands of government (any government) which will use those funds to further suppress the citizenry.

Engaging stuff as always from Russell. So far, I've not heard Russell explain how a societal structure can be organised that would "encourage" people to be more compassionate. Also, systems of encouragement could easily become coercive powers, and you cannot coerce someone to be compassionate, it must be a voluntary impulse,
Exactly. We cannot. I would argue that Candace’s solution is the one that comes closest to this: when the government stays out of our hair and our money, we are more likely to give.
Candace answered him correctly that such structure is not in the government. That structure that "encourages" compassion is not in the realm of politics or economics but in the church.
@@southerngirl300there are motivational speakers, life coaching seminars - people like Tony Robbins. (Church is still the easiest though because its available and free every Sunday.) But wherever you get your motivation though, it has to be freely sought and not imposed, otherwise it's no longer compassion but coercion.
People would have to at their core choose to do right under a few hard core ethical laws. Off the top of my head one would be don’t push your will onto another.
"Don't look at me with that's fact face" 😂 Honestly love Candace and Russell's mind sets. I see myself as in-between because I don't think everyone can get out of the poor trap, however I do believe some can take the steps to get out of it. I love seeing a well thought out debate from intelligent and passionate people. What a breath of fresh air 🥹 Also I wonder if you guys have thought about Maslows Hierarchy of needs? Perhaps you did in the full interview. Anyway it suggests that in order for us to fulfil things like spiritual needs, first we must have our basic needs met - such as food, shelter, stability. So I think Candace is noticing that people whose basic needs and more are being met are then able to fulfil their desire to give to others - as this is a more complex need and sits further up the hierarchy.

Shows how out of touch we as people have become if we don't see the possibility for good in each and every individual. How far we have fallen that we dare think that judgement is a representation of reality. Life is a book with many chapters; the main character may be the antagonist is one chapter but by the end of the book be the redeemed hero of our story.

"Don't look at me with that's fact face" 😂
Honestly love Candace and Russell's mind sets. I see myself as in-between because I don't think everyone can get out of the poor trap, however I do believe some can take the steps to get out of it. I grew up extremely poor, and unless you take the first steps to help yourself, in most cases you never leave the poor trap.
I enjoy both of their perspectives so it’s interesting to watch this
I believe no one should ever, ever be so poor that they cannot afford a home, food, and education. These are inalienable human rights
@@liliandeenb they are not, if you were dropped into an alternate earth with everything the same, would a house, food and a teacher appear, those cost money and/or effort to create and produce, the only right a human has is to speak, protect himself and his pursuit of happiness and survival as long as they don't damage someone else ability to do the same, anyone who espouses what you just said is delusional and should never have an modicum of power to determine anything in society
@@darsnider7429 agreed. Some people can't even manage money either, give a poor crack addict lots of money and a house and most likely the money will be spent on drugs and the house will be wrecked.
The best help anyone can get is guidance and life lessons to help them function in society. Money doesn't solve everything.
It's called personal responsibility and it got me out of the paycheck to paycheck poor house. I'm not rich but I'm not paycheck to paycheck anymore. .
Big respect, Russell! I mostly agree with Candace, but I feel like if you two worked together long term in a slower more methodical format, the result would be wonderful.
What a wonderful 💡

@President Joe Biden Candice was right, so that's fine. I appreciate his intention, but Russell was the one who needed to be better informed on this topic.
Agreed!
I’m a conservative, I may disagree with Russel on many issues, however I have so much respect for his integrity and his willingness to debate with those he disagrees with. I do agree with him about a lot of stuff at the same time.
He has a billion times more intelligence and integrity than 99% of journalists.
Agree! I'm the same way about my views with Russell.
Sometimes I agree with what he is saying in theory if we lived in a perfect world that sounds great, but we don't. But a lot of other things he says are spot on.
Agreed.
Open and honest and respectful debate between people who disagree. Who knew it was possible.
LOVE THIS, this is how people used to debate and explain their issues, how refreshing. I want to hear both views again.
I love this. I love listening to people with different opinions, it's refreshing after everybody's being in an echo chamber nowadays.

I love seeing a well thought out debate from intelligent and passionate people. What a breath of fresh air 🥹
Also I wonder if you guys have thought about Maslows Hierarchy of needs? Perhaps you did in the full interview. Anyway it suggests that in order for us to fulfil things like spiritual needs, first we must have our basic needs met - such as food, shelter, stability. So I think Candace is noticing that people whose basic needs and more are being met are then able to fulfil their desire to give to others - as this is a more complex need and sits further up the hierarchy.

I never would have guessed Russell Brand would grow up to be a well-rounded, informed man, working to spread awareness on government corruption and other important, controversial issues. Just pet the fuzzy wall, right?
Why not, this is the problem, we live in a world of prejudice where a man can’t have a view point because he looks or does certain things that people feel don’t relate to his view point.
@@enosger because his whole thing used to be right wing = evil. He has changed a lot in the last decade and now it's awesome to watch his opinion even if I don't agree with his perspective.
Russel was always well informed and highly touched by the struggles of humanity which is probably what kept him blurring it out with his chosen aids, hard living in this world as an empath when all around you see the nastiness of human behaviour.
@@enosger I think you missed the point. Entirely. The whole point of my comment was that I'm happy to see Russell has found the proper outlet to reveal to the world a magnificent side of himself that he did well to keep separate from his earlier career as a comedian. And that i am thankful for him doing so, as i appreciate his frame of reference and the lighter perspective he brings to the very serious topics discussed on this channel. Curious why you’ve felt this way about him? He’s always been this way, watch his interview with westboro Baptist, he’s the same way
Shows how out of touch we as people have become if we don't see the possibility for good in each and every individual. How far we have fallen that we dare think that judgement is a representation of reality. Life is a book with many chapters; the main character may be the antagonist is one chapter but by the end of the book be the redeemed hero of our story. I have come to realize that politics have become so self-centered that no change is going to take place, it's as if they never cared in the first place. For all we know that may be the reality that politicians fight to misdirect so they live lives the rest cannot. When she uses animality as an excuse for why the rich should stay rich I remember that this viewpoint is something only a human could come up with. For all of our history we have suffered our selfishness. War, poverty, ignorance, etc. all born from our selfishness. It's time to evolve into what we have the potential to become.
I predict you will see more of this. Both sides hate authoritarianism and it’s the path for us all to learn to get along again and start moving forward. Trust me both sides are sick of the stagnant situation government has forced us into.
@@aguaman8471 why is there always sides? Why can we not just be? Why are you forcing people to choose sides? Life is not that defined or binary. The “Natural Order” is really a kind of chaos.

Candace: "not in politics"

What I really respect about both of you is that you both know it will be a heated discussion, that you both will disagree with each other and are STILL willing to sit with each other and talk but also listen to each other’s arguments then engage.
