Candace's point on the "natural market" was spot on. That basic supply vs demand drive is a cornerstone of human interactions, it's impossible to divorce this from the human condition whether you're bartering chickens for flour or paying cash for a new jacket. Where this comes into play with individualism is the belief that most individuals can develop some level of skill which is valuable enough to the marketplace for that individual to become successful. When enough individuals do this, they create more successful societies.

Anyway it suggests that in order for us to fulfil things like spiritual needs, first we must have our basic needs met - such as food, shelter, stability. So I think Candace is noticing that people whose basic needs and more are being met are then able to fulfil their desire to give to others - as this is a more complex need and sits further up the hierarchy.

I thought Candace won that debate hands down. She was absolutely correct. I grew up poor by the way, raised by a single mom. I have lived long enough to know how the world works. I put myself through college at age 34 sacrificed a lot by doing it too. I paid for my own education too. If people have worked hard to be successful, they have earned it by hard work. It's not fair to those that have worked their asses off for it just to be taxed more to help everyone. If you want to be successful financially, you can do it all by yourself. I did. I also help a lot of people as well. Taxing the rich more will not make a difference. They provide jobs, and without jobs everyone will be poor. Candace explained it well. Socialism has been tried in history, go study what a failure it has always been. Some of us that are older than the both of you, know it. Every young person has no idea how that feels trying to survive it, and that is where we are headed off of a cliff if you elect a socialist or Biden. Just being honest. Talk to someone who has been through it, before you push for it.

We must have watched different debates as Russell won hands down. She had nothing to say except expousing the same old greed and bs, that's what the matrix you're born into (but you don't even know it) does, it makes you a cog in a machine. Find out how currency creation works in a fiat fractional reserve banking system, the dice are loaded and the rich stay rich and generally the poor stay poor. If you truly believe that this current nightmare is taking you anywhere but to abject poverty you're uninformed. Wait till programmed cbdc is introduced and cash is withdrawn. The fact some of us older than you know is that it's the fundamental system which is flawed and corrupt it doesn't matter which ideology you apply, the WEF are correct we need to build back better just not how they believe.

What a weak-minded, naive outlook on society, I suggest you lay off the conservative rabbithole and whatever bullshit narrative they try and push down your throat. Here's a thought experiment, a fairly simple one to highlight the absurdity of your understanding about the world: compare a child that is born in Africa to one that is born in Scandinavia. Predict me their future, and once you've done so, explain the reasons one is statistically more likely going to live a successful life compared to the other (i.e. better health, better education, better work opportunities). Once you've done that, explain what the fundamental causes of those differences are.

" According to a 2021 White House study, the wealthiest 400 billionaire families in the US paid an average federal individual tax rate of just 8.2 percent. For comparison, the average American taxpayer in the same year paid 13 percent." Please study before you speak inadequately and act as if you know more when you clearly don't..... I'm surprised more people haven't pointed this out, shear ignorance. Please stop pretending you know things you don't. Poor people pay more taxes than rich. @@paulh2343 A handful of billionaires want to control the country/world. They dislike competition, so they wish to kill small businesses, and use the government to insure the continuity of their power. That's literally what happened during 2020. Hold the Enron shares and stop voting for the damn Democrats already.

@@dw1002 Not only that, but tax them to the ground and more of their entry positions become exactly minimum wage, jobs get cut, there's less growth that the earned money from taxes would stagnate. You can either play the short quick money game or the long big money game and as long as Amazon keeps growing as a business, the US economy actually grows from that. You're mental to think that taxing businesses that have helped create jobs around the world that benefits the mainland economy just to feed some homeless guy is going to be of help to the overarching picture. Going over the edge might cause an avalanche of problems that it starts cascading on the middle class and then on the lower class.

This is seriously one of the most beautiful, passionate debates I've seen, that attacks only ideas, but seeks understanding. The looks, the giggles, the general demeanor... These two respect each other, AND disagree greatly on this issue. Because of this, I've been exposed to multiple ideas and views and now I can form my own values and beliefs with the plethora of dense information I've just digested. So gorgeous.

This is what politics is missing. As soon as it would get heated, they would smile at each other, because they obviously respect that they have different views... but don't have to get personal about it. Such a breath a fresh air to watch this kind of debate!
