My mom bought me my first electric guitar in 1991. I used to love this song back then. Mom died in 2021 of Alzheimer's. I heard this today and started sobbing. Miss you mom. You taught me how to dream and this is the soundtrack to my dreams as a kid.
Slash made me pick up the guitar, because it looked cool to me (don't judge me, I was a dumb, trend following kid back then...) John Petrucci and Alex Lifeson made me take the guitar more seriously. But Eric Johnson... EJ gave me the pure inspiration to master the guitar in all it's shapes and forms!
I don't care if there are technically better players than EJ ( doubt there are that many though) but his sense of melodic composition and that sweet tone is just godly. For me the Goat of guitar.
This is my favorite song of ALL TIME! It has inspired me since the first time I heard it. In MY OPINION, Eric Johnson is the best guitar player alive and certainly one of the top ten EVER. The album/disc Ah Via Musicom is incredibly diverse with influeces of Chet Atkins (Steves Boogie), Wes Montgomery (East Wes), and ball busting, guitar shredding on Cliffs of Dover, et al. His nuance and inflection is so rich and has so much texture. EVERY guitarist, no, EVERY MUSICIAN should have this disc!
One of my earliest influences. Though I was a metal head this really brought me to a good place musically and eventually brought me to SRV as well. Thanks Eric!
The strange thing is, I’ve loved this song for years and never looked at the music vid. But this song always made me picture horses in my mind. Seems it wasn’t only in my head.
I ve heard this song in early 1990 but i never knew the title, yes its true about the imagination of riding horse in the country side....till i found the title and this video clip just four months ago

All I can say is the man commented on his F.b. page and gave me a condolence for my son and bandmate jason I lost in Aug 2020, I think he is super humble, I've been struggling with my sons passing, I had tears the day I read his message but it was joy, I will be a fan of his till forever is thru.....

If you’re Joro and your handle says that you are. I listened to a couple of your tunes. I liked them. I was born in 54 like Eric. When you get older you tend to stick with what you know. Still no more celebrities in politics 👍.
What a great guitarist...I've had the pleasure to see him live a couple times and he is purely amazing...One of the best concerts I've seen was when he opened for Joe Satriani a couple years back ! Thanks for posting
Saw him at House of Blues in New Orleans back in 2007( I think), after Katrina. I was tripping balls, and the ambience was comforting, the whole show the soundtrack of my trip. Never smiled so hard for so long in my life, my smile muscles were aching next day
Still, simply the best! A master multi instrumentalist and such a good soul, positive, melodious vibes pour out of every cell! @ericjohnson, rocked Clearwater, Fl last night! ❤❤❤
About the video, it's like this : The beautiful girl is drawn to Eric, enthralled by his beautiful music. However, so divine is the music flowing from Eric's guitar that Eric is himself enraptured by the music, and thus fails to even notice the beautiful girl. The girl, realizing that even her beauty, great as it is, stands little chance of of drawing Eric out from the spell of the enchanting music flowing from Eric's guitar, turns and runs away. Man, now that's Poetry for you !
My radio station does an end of year song A to Z and I was lucky enough to be tuned in when this was played, or I'd never have known about it. Had to look in their playlist to know the info, but happily in my stash for nearly a year.
Man, I love this, but had no idea it was so old, from the 80s!!!! I used to deliver Pizzas and this was playing all the time!! That was 20 years ago!!!! Thanks for posting this!!! Flying Mailbox in the middle of the video...gives the term Airmail a whole new meaning!!!! 2 people need a Happy Pill!!!!
Very unique song and i love the video despite what others say. It takes you to some cowboyish fairytale dream sequence set in the past. One of the very best songs by EJ.
Ive seen him live myself back in 99... he put on a great show... Derick Trucks Band opened for him... Thats before Derick Truck became famous... i saw him out in the parking lot unloading equipment from the tour bus not even knowing who he was lol
@@hmcbride59v2 I love the video, maybe we all see different, the wall with numbers I guess is like a fretboard, a hot girl running from you in a dream, then he unleashes a blazing guitar solo, I guess I'm the silent majority, but I respect all your opinions..
The more I listen to Eric Johnson I think he must have sold his soul to the devil to play like that. Just kidding - he has so much soul!! beautiful sounds, virtuoso technique with musical artistry. He does it all. Check out his acoustic guitar work - same awesome mastery. Gives me goosebumps!

EJ is a Virtuoso, saw him in Austin a couple of times, he has very fast fingers and creates sounds that are inexplicably brilliant. Top Shelf talent
superior to Joe Satriani
I also see him twice in Austin. Amazing!!!

I love this song because it makes me happpppy. You agree?
Eric Johnson is a fucking LEGEND. Top shelf.
I don't care if there are technically better players than EJ ( doubt there are that many though) but his sense of melodic composition and that sweet tone is just godly. For me the Goat of guitar.
its the unique sound that defines him

Venus Isle isn't half bad either. And his new one is very much EJ.
One of my earliest influences. Though I was a metal head this really brought me to a good place musically and eventually brought me to SRV as well. Thanks Eric!
Why does this music not get the recognition it deserves? Seriously, what is not to love about this? Everything is perfect!
After 29 years this song is still magic. Its like floating in a cloud of music. Timeless.
Right, you nailed it! Timeless Memories, when music was pure and magic.... EJ still's the Best!
Yep.

Yes! Same ! It’s the galloping bass licks
That's hilarious what a coincidence

Bet you didn't picture a flying horseshoe
This clip is actually better than most netflix shows.
Better than the last 3 sessions of criminal minds
No Way,nah!
😂Agreed. Netflix is junk.
I find really hard to believe that someone in their right mind would dislike this video.
The Master himself...the Mozart of guitar... i love him so much... Eric "Mr. Tone" Johnson !! God bless him !!

i met e.j. and i don't think there is a cooler guy on the planet, so humble, so laid back, i will never forget him...
Met him some years ago in Houston, and I had same impression of him. Great guy. Great musician.
Yeah his playing is so stellar you would expect him to be a real conceited prick.....hahah jk. He's a national .. make that universal treasure.
I did too, very shy as well

Definitely my favorite song from Eric Johnson!!
3:54 is reminiscent of a part of Rush’s sound
eric johnson without a doubt has a unique "TRADEMARK" sound, no pun intended of course !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great song. Makes me want to listen to this while driving for some reason.
just 96000???? this should have millions of views; I love Eric Johnson music and technique, and obviously my influence in guitar
for those of you old enough to remember...this jam was always played during intermission at all concerts at the old Convention Center Arena....S.A.T.X

Another guitar legend from Texas , Eric is one of a kind 👍👏💯

i have always wonder why this song was so underrated, i think it is one his most expressive. Though not necessarily his most technical.
There you have it ..Technicality not really mandatory for musical expression. Many players need to realize and live by this.
Soothing instrumental! Love this song!!!
10 years after watching this video the first time and I still don’t know what I just watched. Still love the song
