When it comes to family that's the only time I actually believe Homelander is being sincere.
He was so shook by Soldier Boy's rejection that he didn't even try to fight back when he grabbed him by his face.
His life was in immediate danger when solider boy knocked Ryan out, and his first instinct was still Ryan.

Noir and Homelander's relationship, is sort of a twisted version of the amazing friendship of Batman and Superman in DC comic's, I believe were "best friend's" in a sense. So his betrayal hurt Homelander the most, even more so than Maeve, and it was all shown in just a few seconds of Homelander's expressions, amazing acting on Anthony's part. It was also telling just how far Soldier Boy was lost, because he told Homelander "he WAS like him, a disappointment". Yeah, it got increasingly obvious over the season the the "Homies" (Homelander Stans) are MAGAts.
Homelander would do the same to them if they did the same thing to that asshole when he lasered him. Homelander represents the worst of humanity and those assholes who cheer for him have no idea that he doesn't give a damn about them.
Also people need to let go of Trump(he is a absolute asshole). But the more attention you give him he will just take it in and run with it. It has been over 4 years since he left office and I say MOVE THE F*CK ON!

Homelander AND Huey have "mom issues" albeit in very different ways. When you were talking about Huey being drawn to strong women, I finally had the lightbulb moment and realized THIS is part of the manifestation of his issues with being abandoned by his mom as a kid. I never pieced that together until you pointed that out. The thing I love about this series is how everyone is broken in different ways..... and they're all wrestling with their demons AND their inner angels.... while there are clearly folks in the hero & villain camps, they're all gray enough that the camps aren't so much polar opposites. I look forward to season 4 and the next lap of this wild ride - however long it takes.

Noire okayed the mission to take down Soldier Boy so he can be replaced by Homelander
Early notification squad reporting in ✨ honestly, butcher should've just gone through with the plan. him backing out at the last moment literally made everything they've been doing this season to bring homelander down a notch all for nothing, and now he's more unhinged and at greater heights now. it makes the whole season feel like a bit of a zero sum.

It feels a bit rushed, that Homelander could get Ryan on his side so fast. (So all the time Mallory didn't actually have any influence on him apparently.

Soldier Boy was just staying true to his word to Butcher. That's why he didn't team up with Homelander. Soldier Boy was consistent where Butcher flipped at the end, even though SB reminded him that Homelander is right there to kill (by this point Ryan was out of the room). Butcher ruined his own plan.
@@lokithecat7225 I agree that SB's disappointment with Homelander played a role but I believe keeping hos word to Butcher was also a factor. He literally was trying to remind Butcher of his own plan/deal to take down Homelander after Butcher turned on him. I feel if the deal was a non-factor, SB's words would've been different in that moment. More like "What are you doing asshole? Get out of my way so I can kill the weak pussy of a son standing before me."
Antony Starr deserves some kind of award for his acting as Homelander. He turns it up to 100% every episode.

Ryan siding with Homelander is a massive consequence of Butcher’s crusade against Homelander. By pushing him away he ruined everything that Becca was trying to do to prevent her son from becoming like his father.

Butcher should not really try to help people he cares about because normally he makes it worse for them. Then he helped Homelander successfully which is ironic
I thought part of him choosing homelander over billy was him both protecting Billy from homelander but also Ryan is a good influence on homelander... until the fans helped endorse the wrong behavior for him to believe it's ok to do. Had homelander been booed for killing the guy at the end Ryan would have been reminded of his mother wanting him to have morals, instead he's shown violence over those weaker is to be applauded.
I do agree with you though that Billy's pushing him away was a massive mistake as well
Idk, it also felt that Ryan willingly sacrificed himself by going with Homelander because any other action would lead to Homey murdering everyone in this room. I feel he is still on the fence.

I can't help but feel like the boys are the bad guys in this season. What did they really do that improved anything? They busted out soldier boy, and immediately lost control of him leading to many deaths. They protect and enable soldier leading to multiple minor supes (who mostly are retired or keeping to themselves) and bystanders getting killed. In the end soldier boy goes back on ice and homelander is worse than ever, not to mention they've cooked their brains on V and lost Maeve as a super ally. Ryan got railroaded into homelanders arms because of butchers crusading, now he's coming up as Homelander the 2nd. It really seems like the boys made everything worse this season, and it was an unforced error.
Hughie was definitely saving Starlight from Soldier Boy in some previous episodes lol. She was attempting to charge him twice which would have undoubtedly meant a dead Starlight. In those moments I could argue that she certainly needing saving from her own hero complex similarly to how she saved M.M. repeatedly from his suicide mission against SB.

What I don’t understand is what’s Maeve’s issue with Hughie? Anytime she sees him, she always says some god awful shit to him. Like damn, chill. 😂
Though I gotta say that she wasn’t wrong about Homelander. They had the only guy that could effectively deal with him and they messed it up. I also understand that Hughie and Butcher were killing themselves but it was necessary to fight Homelander. And I still don’t understand what Starlight thought she was going to do. She tried several times throughout this season to confront Soldier Boy. That would’ve just ended with her dying. While Hughie has a complex about being strong, Starlight also has a complex about being a hero which could very quickly get her killed. Hughie and Butcher weren’t wrong if only they would’ve just been honest with the rest of the team from the beginning. They could’ve dealt with Homelander and then sedated Soldier Boy with that neurotoxin. But now, they have Victoria Neuman, Homelander, and Ryan, whose most likely going to be much stronger than Homelander, to deal with.
Such a complicated story, your reaction was on point! Everything from Ryan/Homelander tugging at the heartstrings to Maeve being alive getting applause. I wish there was a way to bring Homelander to justice without killing him. I agree with Nate, A-Train's brother, saying Blue Hawk needed to be publicly punished instead of killed in some situation that can be spun for positive PR.
I feel like Homelander just needs his powers taken away and he’ll have to live like a basic man. I think that that would be more damaging to him than anything. Death is too kind. Being alive and being mediocre, it’ll slowly kill him on the inside

SB see himself in HL and SB hate it, he acknowledged that his father was right all along about him being a disappointment when HL said "I'm you" SB didn't deny it he said "I know, you're a disappointment" it seems to me that SB has some kind of self hatred, it looks like SB is a supe version of butcher, about Ryan i think he's on SB way that's why he did that i mean butcher wouldn't even care if he didn't make a promise to his death wife, SB is a ruthless asshole but at least he kept his word thou i didn't feel bad about what happened to him he deserves it

I was surprised with all the positivity in this finale. The Boys is usually about really jacked up shiz so it was nice to see those that deserve it get a happy ending here for once.
But it wasn't happy.
Butcher fucked everything up. Lost the one guy that could de-power HL.
Now have HL 2.0 to deal with.
He is dying.
Lost Maeve.
And for nothing really.....
Chance is HL and Ryan wouldn't have died to SB's blast, but would have been de-powered like Maeve and Kimiko....

You guys do realize that too happy of an ending like Homelander dying would end the show? This was as happy an ending as we were gonna get for a series that needs to keep the tension going for a few more seasons.

i don't know if Ryan TURNED to Homelander because of how Butcher treated him, or if it was to SAVE HIM......think about it.......Ryan KNEW they hated each other......if Ryan wanted Butcher to die.....RIGHT THERE.....turn to Homelander and tell him to kill Butcher........rather.....Ryan saw BOTH Homelander AND BUTCHER risk their own lives to PROTECT him.......i think he wanted both of them to live........so, Ryan said, "i want to leave".......keeping them from fighting

I loved this season but I hated this finale. Maeve surviving felt so forced and unbelievable, I guess there's no stakes and none of the good guys are actually in danger.
Soldier Boy is a self-serving and insecure bully. Just look at the way he treated his team and especially Black Noir, he can't stand being second to anyone, so Homelander and Ryan would be a threat to ego.

In the comics the CIA recruited Vogelbaum to create something that could kill anyone with Compound V in their system. Once that job was completed, Butcher was given the job kill Vogelbaum he was 85 years old did that make differences to butcher he didn’t give fuck in fact as he left vogelbaum dead Upon leaving Vogelbaum's house, Butcher spits a thick chunk of unidentifiable matter on the ground it looked like a kidney or some other organ . It turns out he hated him so much he even cannibalized him . The reason why was because he’s the man who started it all . He made homelander and that gave butcher Satisfaction with his devilish smile with killing him and cannibalizing him . Also the butcher in the comics has no beard you can clearly see his menacing smile

I get it, but when you really love someone you also really don't want them to die. I mean if your significant other was drowning in a lake right in front of you, you wouldn't care if they wanted it or not. Do we try to stop suicide attempts then? Even Annie at the end decided to save Hughie whether he wanted it or not.
His is to prove he’s strong, not because he loves her. When she’s saved him it’s out of love, not to prove she’s strong. Equating suicide is odd, it’s literally a cry for help.

And when going against inhumanly powered beings it makes sense he sought equal power to fight back. And he also shouldn't have lied about it and been all sneaky like. But his end goal was always to save Annie from Homelander whether she felt like she had it all under control herself or not. Because no one has him under control.
I was equating suicide because when you were exclaiming that if a person tells you to stop, they don't need you to save them, you must let them go. It parallel suicidal people who chose to push people away who are trying to save them.

One thing that is clear over 3 seasons is that Starlight's powers pale in comparison to the other heroes.
Noir the supposed Batman of the show didn't really do anything and died without raising a hand.

I'm pretty sure they're not going to go full Oedipus with Homelander - he did tell Black Noir he found the evidence of Soldier Boy being his father in the Tower, you'd think he'd have noticed if Stormfront was mentioned...
And it's fascinating how this show is telling multiple, intersecting stories about generational toxic masculinity in various forms and what effect it has.... Sam was a violent asshole and Billy's twisted coping mechanisms unfortunately make him more like his father than he wants to be - and while he is managing to break the cycle he and Lennie had with the Hughie relationship, he's definitely continued his own messed up father-son cycle with Ryan (even if he meant it as a 'tough love' move, it drove Ryan straight into Homelander's arms). And then you have Soldier Boy - raised by a distant and disdainful father that warped his view on what a man is. Homelander, in turn, is raised in a lab by a distant and disdainful scientist/father figure who didn't really see him as a man so much as a thing. And it's Homelander, second generation in, who is actually breaking the cycle HIS bloodline seems to have, by offering Ryan all the things he wanted for himself - I don't doubt that it's still an inherently warped and selfish thing that's driving it, and I do NOT think it bodes well, but his behaviour towards Ryan is genuine, which is why it so dangerous. From real life experience, kids are vulnerable when they don't feel loved and protected, and it's easy for them to latch on to the person who seems to care - they're not mature enough on the most part to recognise the nuances of why adults behave the way they do. Hell, most of us adults don't really either...
I hope soldier boy isn't dead. He's EASILY my favorite and most relatable character in the whole show.

I wish there was more destruction during the fight scenes n was wondering how 6.5 super beings fighting can be isolated to one floor of a building. I mean when SF chased kimiko n her bro in season 2 multiple floors were destroyed. I also wish Maeve could have kicked or punched or pushed HL out 1 window brief silence *jump scare* HL crashes thru another window comes flying back in n superman punching her something like that. But I kno "budget"

the whole relationship with Frenchie/Kimiko is so sweet, but the scene with them talking is the best. He has always called her 'Mon Coeur'... which loosely translated is "Sweetheart", "My Love", "Darling"...something like that. But when he asks her what she sees when she looks at him, Kimiko replies, "Mon Coeur"... which Literally translates to "My Heart". It's a VERY sweet scene.

Decided to watch your reactions to season 3. I'm still confused how Maeve took the blast from Soldier Boy that takes away your powers and fell to the ground and didn't die? No normal person could survive that fall and survive. It's the one decision that irks me they made. Every decision they've made, but that one has made sense. It's the superhero genre's biggest issue of not letting ppl die. What a way she could've gone out.
A few little fun fact about the comic "the boys"
*The Show surpases the comic by miles - the premise is the same - kill all supes, but all supes and even the boys are much more one dimensional - some main heroes are almost non existend in the comics like maeve ( dies pretty early in the comics) or vastly different like black noir ( the show black noir is much better)
*the comics have temp V since the beginning, its available all the time and the boys kill supes left and right with temp V - makes it even more bloody then the show.

I can't even fully articulate everything I think and feel about this episode without posting a huge wall of text. Suffice it to say that I loved this episode and I could almost feel sorry for Homelander. He showed more compassion and humanity in this episode than he's done the whole show and his desire for a family felt very genuine. Unfortunately we know that this is not coming from a good place. The only disappointing thing about the finale was Starlight's 'power up'. She barely knocked SB 10 feet and then was out of the fight. They really did SL dirty in this show when it comes to the powers
She doesn’t need saving… he’s making mistakes. She’s not? She’s the least powerful supe EVER. But keeps putting herself in danger… and he’s supposed to be like, “YOU GO, GIRL!! OMG!!” She’s powered up, because of Hughie, and does NOTHING! Yeah, I would be watching her back at that point.

You’re missing the entire point of Hughie wanting to save her. It’s a biological instinct that is built into men. He can’t help it and deep down starlight wants it.

The thing with Hugie and Annie is power dynamics. Annie wants Hugie to be safe, and needs powers to do so. Hugie wants powers to be the one that save Annie for once. Annie needs comes from love whilst Hugies needs comes from feeling weak.
If Hugie wanted powers just to keep Annie safe instead of a wish of being the one to "save the day" it would have been different.
The thing is to save her from the things that are dangerous to her he would need powers. I can understand how both feel but if he already lost one girl, last thing he wants is to have another loss when he could of helped

Hence his “pizza rolls” speech about his dad. He realized that he didn’t need the temp V to be strong for starlight. Or for butcher, who he’s also trying to save.
@@zimvader25 Before the last episode is was about his need to be the hero, but he realised the toxic nature of this and in the battle between Annie and Soldier Boy he decided to save her by increasing her powers rather than increasing his own.

That’s what we’re doing here?… just blatantly ignoring that he literally saved her from being annihilated by soldier boy, THREE TIMES this season, just to “prove” he was being toxic, and not her just being reckless and needing his help, like when she got her ex boyfriend killed? Seriously? Her doing anything/everything to save him is sweet, but him doing anything/everything to save her is toxic. Got it.
I have a feeling Butcher is gonna regret not letting Soldier boy take out Ryan and Homelander at the same time.
Butcher doesn't regret anything not even his own screw ups and Butcher had his chance and he f*cked that up and now Ryan is with Homelander and Ryan might turn into Brightburn and if that happens then they might have to kill him as well.

If this show cared about power levels that punch homelander hit maeve with should have obliterated her. He just punched through Noir with ease but then the punches that hit maeve did little damage.
I feel like it was heavily implied he was holding back on Maeve and trying not to full fight her, just slow her down/stop her. He still probably wanted to harvest her eggs and keep her alive after all, and didn't think she could really hurt him.
@@Zakuen Still though, I didn't like that Maeve went toe to toe with him and made him bleed then nearly killed him. It kinda makes him seem way less powerful. Not to mention his eye beams did nothing to her at all.
Not just power levels, but whatever she jammed into his ear should’ve crumbled to pieces, not gone through. He’s supposed to be invulnerable to everything. He even told noir sharpening his blades was going to do sweet fuckall to soldier boy. He’s supposed to be able to withstand a nuclear blast but a sharp metal object pushed hard enough can hurt him? That’s just lazy writing.
Noir just stood still when the nuclear guy exploded into him S2 ep1 and yet Homelander can just guy him. They built Homelander up as this indestructible unstoppable monster for 2 seasons and now we see that a few strong supes could probably take him. Maeve making his nose bleed for some reason. I bet A Train could just run through him with how much he has been nerfed
Would have been such a great season if they hadn't felt the need to lean in to current day politics, or even remained neutral when they did...
The point of the show is to make it feel real, so having influences of current events puts you in those shoes.

Honestly, for me, Soldier Boy is the best character in the show by this point. Is he an asshole? Absolutely. But he's an honest and upfront asshole. If the writers tried to make him look as bad as HL, they really didn't do a good job of it.
@@storyofm6820 I mean Soldier Boy is quite an asshole and not a good person, but Homelander is a literal psychopath that would willingly kill millions just for fun. Not to mention what he's done to Becca and arguably Maeve too considering they were in a relationship.

@@storyofm6820 nah that was good, that scene show that SB acknowledged that his father was right all along, after SB called HL pussy, starve for attention and weak HL reply with "I'm you" and SB didn't deny it "I know you're a disappointment" i think SB has some kind of self hatred, tackling Ryan till he passed out would be a better scene to show how bad SB is, man didn't give a damn to whoever came in his way even for his grandson

SB didn't exactly aknowledge his Father was wrong about him when he said those things.
SB turned into an attention whore after he became a Supe. His Father wasn't right about him back in the Day, but SB turned into the Person his Father saw in him. And he knew that. Hence his words "You could've been better." He meant a better person. Because SB would've provided to Homelander what he himself never had, a good and caring Father.

I have never felt as much sympathy for Homelander as I feel watching this episode. That moment near the end when Ryan gets hit and Homelander *turns his back* on his enemy, and allows himself to be vulnerable, because he's more concerned about Ryan. That is maybe the ONLY time in this entire show thus far that he has TRULY put someone else above himself. And I LOVE the look that Maeve and Butcher exchange in that moment - with Ryan injured and Homelander on his knees with his back turned to SB when they just like wordlessly DECIDE that they're going to turn on SB instead of Homelander... *chills*, man.
Then I also love that after the season-long conflict of Hughie struggling with Starlight's strength and not feeling like he can save her, and her insisting that she doesn't need or want him to save her - in the end, he makes the right choice. He rejects the V which might have killed him and definitely would have hurt their relationship - and instead of trying to save her, he literally EMPOWERS her to save herself and the others. Brilliant little story turn there, I love it so much!
HL doesnt have Maeves eggs, they had to move her without HL even knowing. Too bad if Butcher didnt blink all their problems would be gone. HL and Ryan would not die from the blast (looking at Maeve) but would just lose powers, then team could focus on putting SB to sleep. Butchers blink ruined everything and it even pushed Ryan deeper to the dark side...and gave HL the ability to kill whoever he wants without losing supporters. Offcourse this will split polulation into supporters and antihomelanders. Anyway they made Annies power look WAY WAY too weak after such long cast, he should have flown through at least 1room, crash a wall, it would look better

Liberty/Stormfront disappeared in 1979 and Homelander was made in 1981. I don't think Stormfront is Homelanders mother, but of course anything is possible with Vought ;) hehe
I enjoyed the first 2 seasons even with a more liberal pov but season 3 got way too heavy handed, I'm not even a big Trump guy but Hollywood's hard on for hating middle America and Trump is just boring at this point.
With this "Noir" dying, there is the possibility of working in the comic version of Noir and the corresponding story. Don't be surprised if he makes a surprise return in season 4.
