I suspect the owner did not want to pay to remove the debris? But regardless dumping the debris on those trees was not good for the trees health. It's not how the job was done. Its how the customer wanted the job done and how much would it cost and what will the customer get for the Price he is charging for different types of work.
I do admire and respect your ambition to get up and go do the things you do on your own and learning from your mishaps. Although I guess some people like corny music to go with their construction videos, I prefer the sound of the equipment running, the rocks rattling and tree branches cracking over any tune these guys plug in to their videos or time lapses. But in my defense, I was blessed with the privilege of growing up in the country being an Indian cowboy loving the noises and moods of our Mother Earth and the blessings from our Sun. I started trying to escape into the wild since I was old enough to wreck my stroller out the front porch and crawl away. I've always been irritated by music in movies trying to spice up or over-dramatize the scenes, especially in nature videos. Of all the time I been in Nature's elements growing up beneath the Rocky Mountains, I've never heard music coming from the sky polluting the air. There ain't nothing like the wind blowing across your face and ruffling your hair no matter what temperature it came in. I like hearing it on the microphone videos trying to drowned out some guy's chit chat about what he thinks he's going to do or how he's going to show us how to do it the wrong way. lol, sometimes. I always used a bull float to smooth out the high spots right after screeding the concrete pour to grade. It is heavier than your finish float and knocks the gravel on the surface down into the mud better. Next an edger tool is used to round off the edges of the slab where it meets the forms. Then after twenty minutes the finish float that you have is used to smooth out the surface to a finer finish. I hope the homeowner got the discount rate since there wasn't any wire mess or rebar used to reinforce the concrete slabs compression and fracture strength. I was never in too much of a hurry to round up even some chicken wire to throw on the subgrade.
You are definitely a hard worker. I just retired from the Operating Engineers with 40 years experience. Concrete work is not your skill at all. No control joints, slab is paper thin, mesh is on ground, no expansion joint at garage floor. I could go on and on. First really cold day, that slab is going to heave as crack. Stick to excavation and grading, you seem to be decent at that. I’ve been following you’re videos and give you a lot of credit for working so hard. You look like a young clean cut kid and very ambitious. Take it from one who is now retired. Set your pace and find a good experienced laborer. If you don’t, you’ll burn yourself out, I promise you. I know you want it all, but you can still make tons of money with out killing yourself. I wish you the best of luck with your business, be safe as well.
That slab was a too big for one man , it needs a kirb front to stop it chipping out and it must be cut into slabs and i dont think it's deep enough either . Andrew only put videos of work up your proud of mate, i guess there was no budget for this one and he was stoked with the outcome and thats great , however your future customers will be seeing this kind of work you've done and you will loose out on work, i know this job doesn't reflect the work ethics you have so maybe explain the situation at the beginning of the video in a sympathetic way as to not upset that customer .
Andrew, just one comment on the concrete. I saw that you used a vibratory screed on a concrete job and then sort of abandoned its use. I suggest that you give it another try and then you may see that it leaves a much flatter surface and much easier surface to further finish with the float. In practice, you just lay two little pads the length of the screed with a laser and then fill between. This is called a wet screed. Lay the second screed the same way. Then pour between them and use the power screed to knock it down flat maybe 8 feet at a time. The truck driver fills in the low spots if there are any. Really, it is not much more work as it drastically cuts down working the float. The power float also buries the rocks a bit and brings more cream up to make bull floating easier.
I’m here in 2019 and I watch all of Andrew videos he is a one man operation he works harder then most people I know big props to you Andrew keep up the good work and don’t let anybody tell you different a lot of people have shot to say on how it came out but nobody was there to hear exactly what the customer wanted and also like I said that was a big pour for one guy. Keep up the good work
Trees bark damaged and close to shadowing bigger trees. When u have a damage greater than a box of matches we say it's a goner. So what you can do is taking a carpet, roll it around the stem and tighten with rope then handle carefully to not damage the bark. usually you get rot from those damages and the tree bleeds out also., inviting insects and birds. If you want to plant a smaller leaf tree keep it away from bigger ones so it gets alot of sun, mots leaf trees are primaries, means they fight for the light. This tree, if shadowed by bigger ones will stretch and be thin and long, not what you want for a garden tree usually. No criticism justn trying to give some of my decades in forestry.
@@El_Chompo Not always, had a rabbit come by and eat most of the bark around the bottom of the tree, it survived though. Its even going to give us some apples this year.
That roughly 18'x50' concrete pad? Single person job where I normally see 5+ pet job... You sir... I would hire you any day of the week for a project. Great work!
As a concrete finisher it was hard to watch u pour that Crete without any real tools good God man buy urself a mag and an edger a skreed board will help with leveling just get a 2x4
It’s amazing all you can do. With the best intentions, I suggest you work alongside a mason or concrete guy to learn more in that one area. I say this only for your own development . Not everything can be self taught.
Good job fixing up the driveway. I used to help my dad growing up in his business doing that stuff. As a recommendation, I would advise to use a motorized trowel. It's bulky and heavy, but it does save time and give a nice finish to the concrete. Biggest problem though is the price tag....
I think - with all the critic comments in mind - people seem to forget that you get what you're willing to pay for. If you want a Ferrari, you have to pay the price of a Ferrari, simple as that.
I don't even know what they are criticizing on this one. What do they want to see, more concrete and rebar? I think its sufficient, ill have to go back there this spring and film it to show them that it didn't crack. I would have had no problem doing more materials, that really wouldn't have effected the labor much. Some people think the finish is to rough maybe. The guy was standing right there while I was doing it, and said he wanted it like that. I could have made it smoother, or polished it.
Me neither. I'm no construction worker, but my uncle was and he had his own company where I worked in the summer as a teenager, and we did a lot of work like this, and the same way, so I think it's okay. I also noticed that it seems like the base layer, under the blacktop, was compressed gravel so it would be very stabile to pour concrete on top of that, and although it's a bit hard to see in the video exactly how much you poured on, I would guess about 3 inc. or so, and that's more than adequate for the kind of load this will have to endure. Keep up the good work, I love your videos. Cheers.
@@FacelessMan777 Yeah, about that.... 95% of the commentators here on youtube are keyboard "craftsmen" they do not know shit in real life, just sitting in here complaining doesn't make you an expert. Was it a top job? No, and I never said so, I said it was adequate for what the customer was willing to pay, and the slab were about 3 to 4 inch thick, which is more than enough for the purpose it's made for.
@@jrand2631 no. He didnt tie the new slab to the old, it will heave. With the rebar flat on the ground it isnt able to do its job, it will crack (just like the asphalt). No relief joints to control the cracking and heaving. The finish... theres a process to it not just for looks. The forms... theres a reason for them beyond looks. How bout watershedding? Is it gonna drain the rain into the garage? He dont know cuz he didnt do (didnt film at any rate) the proper prep. Even if the customer wants a cheaper job, his name is on this one and in a lot of our opinions he just wanted a lot of this means money.
Thats probably the trick. No employees only a lot of machines. Besides that, Andrew seems to have a lot of luck to get good machines for a good price. Like that two excavators and the trailer he got a bit ago for around 16k if i remember right.
Andrew, you are a very hard working man and I am amazed seeing you do all sorts of projects. However, you need to hire a retired concrete finisher to show you some of the finer points of finishing. He can show you the process of screeding, cutting joints and edging. You worked very hard in this video, but with a little experienced help this job would have been something to be proud of.
Great video. I like the classical music; your work is art. Speeding up the picture footage is so effective. And I love the picture from the drone in another video. Keep up the good work. Eric
I'm on David Odell's channel as well. He does concrete for a living and does it by the book. Great info to use for reference, but he is no A Camarata. Some people have an issue with giving the customer what THEY ASK FOR instead of doing the job their way. We all would have done this project differently so I don't come here to troll, I come to watch Andrew and Levi get through their day. Wait, where WAS Levi?
It's been looking ok for months now. It just lost its leaves for the winter (which is a good sign, its bad when the leaves die, than stay on the tree), I have been watering it. Ill see if it gets new leaves next spring. There is another video, (willow tree) where there's a nice shot of it months after moving it.
As long as the bark isnt cut all the way around the tree still gets nutrients so its not gonna be the bark that kills it. Maybe the time of year but he didnt have any choice on that. I guess he could have made fire wood out of it and if it was to die he still can. I bet it lives.
Not ideal damaging the bark. Next one just use a blanket to protect the bark. Maples are tenacious and this tree is highly likely to survive. Great colour. The bark will look really good and knarly after 5 years too! Plenty of roots there and because it grew into the box they were confined so pretty much all of the roots were retained! Brilliant! :0)

I was never in too much of a hurry to round up even some chicken wire to throw on the subgrade.
dude that stuff with the front end loader and backhoe to build and reinforce an errosion barrier was a thing of beauty to watch
Best part of the video? → 1:14 Who puts a frick'n tree in the middle of the driveway anyway?
People who want a circular driveway?
People who wants a fancy drive way like no one ever seen before
It is an entrance with a roundabout, what else would you put in the middle❓
A traffic light❓
Your comment is quite idiotic‼
People who want roots going threw their driveway
Andrew Camarata has an Awesome work ethic. its crazy how addicting it becomes watching him do his job. and that Music was FIRE @11:40
Any idea what tune it is?
*Literally any job*
Andrew: “So we brought the Yanmar today...” 👌🏼
Beautiful Red Maple. The music, as others have said, adds to the visualization and diversity of the property and project. Dancing to the Machines!
3:00 love your music selections
Traditional edging, expansion joints and a non-slip surface finish would add a professional look to your excellent work.
Efficient pouring methods! Love it
You brushed the concrete to soon wait a couple hours next time
Andrew, just one comment on the concrete.
You did a good job by yourself ignore the haters thumbs up ☺
your excavator skills are god-tier.
I like how you saved the perfectly good tree instead of tossing it. Don't see that too often.
Is it true that peeling a ring of bark from around a tree will kill it?
@@El_Chompo Not always, had a rabbit come by and eat most of the bark around the bottom of the tree, it survived though. Its even going to give us some apples this year.
The amount of effort you put into this job is incredible. Very hard worker. Props to you
Loving the music in this one!
🤔
Love this music that compliments the ballet-like movement in your skills
I thought your house was the container castle :D
U got it all :D
I wonder if the house in this video is his family house right?
I really like this video Andrew
That roughly 18'x50' concrete pad?
Single person job where I normally see 5+ pet job... You sir... I would hire you any day of the week for a project. Great work!
Mike Mcneil thanks.
exactly my thoughts.
Nice work and great music too. That much concrete looks like a major job for one person.
Did you have to put a cut in the concrete afterwards to allow for heat and movement to stop it cracking??
I'm impressed, great job
As a concrete finisher it was hard to watch u pour that Crete without any real tools good God man buy urself a mag and an edger a skreed board will help with leveling just get a 2x4
Nothing better than watching another man work.
It’s amazing all you can do. With the best intentions, I suggest you work alongside a mason or concrete guy to learn more in that one area. I say this only for your own development . Not everything can be self taught.
Most hypnotizing demo I've ever seen.
I’m afraid you were out of your element Andrew when it comes to concrete work as old saying goes jack of all trades master of none.
Cheers.
@@jrand2631 look at the comments from the tradesmen. This work id shit and apoarently you know nothing of quality construction techniques.
Thanks for not putting the same music that every one else uses on their videos
no wonder he makes so much money. he does everything alone.
Ericdawg420 haha ya I like this dude and really like his videos but holy hell Batman that Concrete job was rough to say the least.
ya and watches a youtube video to learn how to do things it seems like lol but he works hard I give him that!!!
Thats probably the trick. No employees only a lot of machines.
Besides that, Andrew seems to have a lot of luck to get good machines for a good price. Like that two excavators and the trailer he got a bit ago for around 16k if i remember right.
he had his gf help em
@@user93237 I think that's his sister
Great video and the music is perfect , busy busy Andrew 👍
Not the way I would have done the concrete, maybe that is what the customer wanted. Anyway I like your video
Thin very thin asphalt closer to the house. I see why it cracked.
Great video. I like the classical music; your work is art. Speeding up the picture footage is so effective. And I love the picture from the drone in another video. Keep up the good work. Eric
Odell Complete Concrete is a reference
Othniel Dejean just what I thought. 👍
@@epochgames3049 Soooo... That makes workmanship
And quality bad? Local 323 and proud. Fuck off whitey
Nice work. Also enjoyed the classical soundtrack. Lol
Once a tree gets barked up like that it's not going to make it
It's been looking ok for months now.
It wont kill the tree.. tree will be fine. As long as he didnt dig more than an inch into it
Not ideal damaging the bark. Next one just use a blanket to protect the bark. Maples are tenacious and this tree is highly likely to survive. Great colour. The bark will look really good and knarly after 5 years too! Plenty of roots there and because it grew into the box they were confined so pretty much all of the roots were retained! Brilliant! :0)
It only made it two years: ua-cam.com/video/ouZMqo-XYoQ/v-deo.html
Tree looks nice and I'm sure it will recover and give you lots of pretty red leaves to rake up lol, as always another great video with perfect music!
I hope that's how rough those people wanted that concrete if not that was horrible for you to leave that concrete that rough for those people
That's what he wanted, its really not that rough.
@@AndrewCamarata being here in Canada; i encourage such a surface!!! That would help getting in and out on a day of freezing rain or snow which we didn't get a chance to put salt down etc..

Concrete work?? Oh noes here comes the concrete Nazis 😂😂
😂😂
When you have fixed enough shitty concrete work in your day. You understand them!
@@iammee1111 True but it's important to remember that sometimes the work is shitty because of the customer's demands or limitations, not necessarily a problem with the contractor's skill or effort.
Great free material for other driveways repairs..
Best part about this video is the music
Holy shit you did all this by yourself? I only realized you were one person doing all the work halfway through the video. Awesome work ethic keep it up!!!!
No idea how I ended up here on this channel....Nice job moving that Tree... Hope it lived longer then this Concrete job will..
Guess the customer wasn’t too picky about the finish on the concrete but I kind a like it quick and dirty and practical and functional... never seen one guy tackle a slab that big...
huge slab with no relief cuts will crack uncontrollably for sure
Good job...good choice of music too...I suspect there's more to this man then meets the eye...
Hungarian Rhapsody Number 2!
Huge props for saving the tree.
Tree not saved
Mr. Andrew keep up the good work and the great videos you are giving us.
the Music was PERFECT with this... LOL...
That seemed like a good size pour for one worker and one "supervisor", I seen pours that size with a crew of 5 or 6.
Great job.
LOL at the concrete work!! I guess you found that 1 customer in a billion that would accept that.
He did a better job than you're ass could
Ya youd better watch the update video. Still looks good.
No, I do it for a living. Not even in the same ballpark as the quality of work I do.
