    In addition to the Train Shops you will pass along the way, don't forget the Train-A-Palooa Swap Meet.

    You've got a basket full of projects lined up, Dave. You'll to start somewhere with what's most important for you at the moment. Step back and make a list of the different projects really necessary to get started on and prioritize them like 1-2-3 or a-b-c. This is just a list of things to be done. Maybe after a visit to a train shop or show, you'll have renewed focus.

    If your are coming across I 90 on your way to Detroit, you should stop at the Middlefield train museum. Not been there but they bought the sing from my local train store in Cleveland and they have a big layout. Farther west there is a Menards and a Hobby lobby in my town, Avon just off the highway. However, there will be no, or few train items on display at Menards this time of year.

    A trolley line would be exciting right here. I’m sure you’ll figure out some decisions.

    Dave, what you're going through is pretty consistent with building a larger layout. Sometimes, you just can't get motivated until something comes along and inspires you. It's better to take a break than to force things. The last thing any of us wants is to make it a job. It's supposed to be fun. My suggestion would be to work on some other details that seem to get neglected and could lead to inspiration for the areas that have you blocked. Start by working on completing the existing layout by making scenery details like trees, bushes, turf mats, structures, or fences, that can be done in the A/C and placed out on the layout when it's cooler. This will help to keep things moving along without slowing things down to play catchup later, that tends to bog things down. I find this can lead to ideas for inspiration for other areas of the build that can be done this fall when things cool down.
    I assume you have Menards website loaded on your computer? They have recently added at least a half dozen new offerings worth checking out. The switches, only offered in 072, sold out fast, and I assume they will make more. They also added a powered and dummy Pennsylvania F-3 units. They added a really nice scale sized weathered cattle car also. Each Menards stores tend to keep a limited amount of model train stock and do not stock everything they sell and only stock a fraction of those items even during train season from October to February. If you plan to purchase something not in stock it can be shipped to the store of choice for free and pickup in store when it arrives. They provide tracking on your order. You can check the current inventory of any store by zip code you plan to visit. They keep the seasonal items upstairs in the mezzanine when not in season.
    Per the Trainmaster. I've had great success removing paint speckles with 90% alcohol without damaging the original paint. I'd test in an inconspicuous spot first. I've pulled off the handrails and burnished off the surface rust with a scotch brite pad back to shiny chrome condition and used Turtle Wax plastic restorer to restore the shell and frame to like new condition.
    Hang in there, don't give up, and good luck with your layout. Who knows, maybe it's time to give the mustang some love.

    The Great Train Store in Lima Ohio. You buy trains from the inside of rail cars. There’s no AC in them either BTW. 😀

    Oh brother! Dave I can WELL understand heat an humidity, especially the latter, keeping you away from tour railroad empire. Temps here in Virginia have been in the high 90's (and breakking 100) for the past two weeks, and with humidity to match! I haven't wanted to do much in my Chugger Barn either. There's a 2003 Lionel Hudson that's been defying my efforts to get the bugs out of it, I finally got to it last night and this morning, thought I had it cured but the bugs came back. That's it, I'm not putting anymore money into ti. And tomorrow it's back to the 90s! What can we do but ride it out?
    On the positive side I got two passenger cars from Trainz this week, a nice Tuscan Red PRR car and a Pullman Green NYC car, but with give me some nice five-car passenger consists!
    And I'd plan on doing a trolley line on your layout. Why? Well there's three different Public Service trolleys in O Gauge out there! One by Atlas Industrial Rail, a limited run Lionel from 2015, and an MTH Public Service PCC. All are out of production but you never know where one might pop up. MTH did a Jersey Transit PCC as well.
    Hey, look luck at Greenbergs in Oaks! If you've got the time and inclination try the Collegeville Diner up the road a bit, great place! And watch out on Route 422, they're all crazy!

    Today 07/13/2024, yes, it became to warm also for me to continue working in my back room with the flat roof after around 2 PM today. PA weather... I have things to do on my cars as well, after the hot weather or when it gets a break I have to replace the front brake pads on my 1997 Riviera before inspection this month. In the mean time my normal garage guy went out of business don't know why... The place is for sale....

    Hate to throw a wrench into it, but you can’t have that breaker box blocked.

    • @genemanno1533
      @genemanno1533 Місяць тому

      Wow, I haven’t noticed that before. Code required unobstructed access to breaker box. Blocking off two windows especially with air unit in one of them isn’t recommended neither. Even reaching over table to breaker box isn’t acceptable.

    Ok, you are way overthinking this project. As soon as it cools down just start building the table. When I was younger like you I always over thunk everything. At 67 I’m running out of time moving my layout so I’m just building it as I go. Sell the mustang. To many hobbies takes too much money from one or the other. I just sold a project car that belonged to my dad. It was hard. But I was glad and relieved once I did. Don’t sell the trains. lol, you sound a lot like me. Except I love my S Scale. Like my O Scale. Get a break! Take care. Cbtrainnut, Chris

    Your layout is fine just as it is. Way bigger than most and will only lead to more work. I don’t look for work as it always finds me. As for your cars the summer is gonna start closing down. You driving special cars season will come to an end sooner that you think. The trains will still be available to screw with in the colder weather. I can’t imagine one needing any more trains than you all ready have. You stated not enough time to run all of them. Your confusion of direction to take and things to buy is not healthy. Focus on one thing and move on it. I been “playing” with my collector cars during this warm weather season. Only on pissing wet raining or extreme humid days do I “play” trains. Breaking away from the cars and trains to do some outside yard stuff with the wife helps one chill. Not a lot only a couple days here and there. Maybe spent 16 or 18 hours each. This is not your typical video with informative and somewhat interesting projects. If you are burning out take some time off rather than derail yourself.
