That just ain't true. It depends on how the relationship ended. If he gives HER up, then she's good-to-go, free and available to whoever. If she dumps him or causes harm to him, or would otherwise cause him mental anguish to see you 1 together, then that's another story, and she's totally off limits to any of his friends. However, it's a true story, but Rick wasn't actually GREAT or even longtime friends with the REAL guy in the story. As he tells it, they were really more like acquaintances ... quick friends, as they had really just recently met but had hit it off as friends. That's not long enough to form that kind of a bond. It just made for a great song, and it WAS #1 in a LOT of places and even won him several Grammy's if I remember correctly (could be thinking of another song about multiple Grammys).
That's exactly the point of the song, which you seem to have missed. He's in love with his friend's girl, but he never does anything about it because he sees how good they are together, and knows he's not worthy.
I guess it was probably the makeup, but when he was Lucifer on "Supernatural" he looked like he was melting. I guess it wouldn't be good for Lucifer to be hot...literally and figuratively....lol.
This was a history to this song. It is based on an actual time in Rick’s life. He had a really good friend who dated an attractive woman. He liked but never pursued it out of respect of his friend, but made a song out of it. True story
Key line is "Why can't I find a woman like that?" I think he was more in love with the type rather than the girl herself. However, there is nothing wrong with being in love with that woman as long as he never does anything about it. It happens all the time.
Uh, no. That is not the key line. That one word or one line does not negate the rest of the song, where he is clearly creeping on his best friend's girl. You can't ignore 99 percent of the song and justify it by picking out one single word that supports your premise. I agree that it happens all the time, still doesn't make it right.
@@EasyZee69 Except he's totally NOT. He wants her but literally never does anything about it and KNOWS he's not worthy of her. YOU need to listen to the whole story being told. 🤷🏻♀️

He won a Grammy for this song. The original guys name was Gary but didn't make as cool a title, I guess. Even though he doesn't play the guitar on this record, the guy can shred.
Now, don't go hatin' on the man. He never DID anything ... not even approached the girl. He just liked her A LOT. However, there's no crime in that. However, the feelings he portrayed are REAL feelings that needed to be expressed in song, because no one ever gets the opportunity to acknowledge their existence. We NEED to talk about these things more, not suppress them. That's what makes people go batty. Yes! I can tell A LOT about reactors and how much they *really* listen to what they're reacting to specifically by how they react to this song. Most get it completely wrong. They're too busy *reacting* and just not paying attention.
My late husband had a friend who would stare at me, made me so uncomfortable. I used to tell my husband, but he would blow it off as "he's just like that". It'll be 2 years in July since he passed. After he passed he called me ALOT for almost 2 months before he said "When you're ready to date again would you keep me in mind. I've always found you to be an exceptional woman". I just said, I'm flattered, but i don't think i could date one of my husband's friends. Most AWKWARD conversation I've EVER had!
He was in love a girl dating his buddy…I think a lot of guys have experienced that…he’s not coming on at all. He just wishes he had her instead. Just about every guy growing up had a buddy land a girl they would have wanted to…there is another song from the same time period “She’s My Best Friend’s Girl - and She Used To Be Mine”
YES, I HAVE been in his situation and it is literally like having a knife thrust in your heart. You don't PLAN for this to happen ... it just DOES. It's what you DO or DON'T do about it that counts. Notice, he never approaches her about it, and he doesn't DO anything about it. This is all in his mind, and he's just expressing his thoughts ... we just get to hear them. Believe me, this is NOT unusual. It happens all the time. Notice, in the chorus, he asks, "Where can I find a woman LIKE THAT?". He fully REALIZES that he can't do anything about his feelings or even approach her. He's done nothing wrong.
He's just wishing and hoping..he would NEVER do anything to his friend! First heard this on "General Hospital" when Rick was playing a Doctor!! LOVE this! A BOP!!!
Hello Shawn & Mel. I know that it is 2 yrs. after you have posted this reaction so I don't know if you are still interested in any comments. I will put down my comment as this is an unusual topic you asked about. I have never been a guy in this situation, but I HAVE been "Jesse's GIRL" - 3x actually, so it is more common than you know. I only knew about 2x (once it was a best friend of my boyfriend, once it was a friend & co-worker of the guy I was going out with). The third time with a third boyfriend, my boyfriend actually told me about him as his friend commented to him about me. It was his friend & co-worker. I think my boyfriend was comfortable telling me about it as he knew that the guy was not my type. (This 3rd one was 1 I would never have known about as he didn't do anything to step out of line at all. The other 2 DID go out of line to a certain extent.) I never dumped either of my 1st 2 boyfriends that were in this situation with me (even though I DID find both of those other guys my type) because I was in a relationship already & was loyal. I DID file the information away in my brain for if & when the relationship I was in didn't work out, but I was never going to stray or break up a perfectly good relationship just because I had other possibilities. That's wrong & you might just be giving up a good thing only to find that the new guy isn't what you expected anyways. So, that's just it from a female perspective. It means that all guys out there should treat their girls well & appreciate them - because there is probably somebody ELSE out there who appreciates them & would be happy to take that girl/woman off of your hands if you don't appreciate what you have properly. Take care, both of you. It was fun to see your reaction. 💐
It's soo difficult to watch the young Rick Springfield cause my ex boyfriend looked just like him when we dated in our teenage years. He had Rick's hair, eyes body everything! Even now when I see him, I still see that young Rick Springfield in those beautiful ocean blue eyes of his.

Made this joke a while ago Jessies coworker: hey man don’t you have a friend named Rick? Jessie: yea why? Coworker: you might wanna turn up the radio 😬
I know I'm telling my age, but I first knew of Rick Springfield when he portrayed Dr. Noah Drake on the daytime soap opera General Hospital. He was the reason some women watched.
It’s okay. It’s more about Rick Springfield being so damn cute and being able to carry a tune. He is another Aussie- he was also a soap star( General Hospital) Him and Linda Blair had quite an affection for each other- they were in love. She was the star of the Exorcist. We all wanted Rick to get Jessie’s girl- he was so cute he should have anyone he wanted😁
I've always thought Jessie's girl was kind of a backstabber's anthem. I mean, he's writing songs about how he wants his "friends" (friends like these, who needs enemies) girl? Come on now.
How many girls in high school had a crush on thier good friends girl/boy. It happens all the time. You dont do anything about it. Great song. Rick Springfield was guy whose poster was on my wall back in the day!
When I was in highschool there was this girl I liked. (Not that I would have ever admitted it) We ran into each other on the Fourth of July at the lake. We talked for what seemed like forever and when I walked home I was walking on air. The next day I found out she and my best friend were dating. Apparently, they also ran into each other a bit later and talked then ended up dating. Now I didn't do anything about it... Bro code and all. But I understand this song. It is about teen angst. It is about the girl you like, not only liking someone else but they end up with your best friend.
He's dreaming, he won't get Jessie's girl, nope no way. I think he'll behave. It's nice to want things, dreams are nice. see he's going to try and get a girl like that. Hope he keeps looking. LOL You guys are so funny.
Well He doesn't actually go after her, it's just his thoughts cause he infatuated. I had a situation like that. I think many guys have had that, you may do nothingw ith it because of bro code, but you still think it. I never made a move, but yeah I was jealous of a friend's gf. Thankfully I said and did nothing, I then proceeded to watch through the years as shed turned into nightmare fuel, she wrecked his life, got into blow, became a mental case, later took their kids, and destroyed him in court. I was like so thankful I didn't have Jessies Girl.....lol I thank God from saving me from some of the bad news girls I had crushes on, and leading me to a good woman instead.
Ud be surprised how many males in ur life (brothers, cousins, uncles, friends) u have that actually and secretly crush on ur girl….it’s very common and most people find out after a break up and some even find out before then
i've never had any feelings for any of my friend's girlfriends but my younger brother RIP had a friend of his hitting on his girl and pretty much cut the friendship out until years later obviously wasn't that good a friend because the man didn't show up to my brother's wake.

Love the Def Leppard t-shirts guys! 😎🔥🤘🎸
☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
My late husband had a friend who would stare at me, made me so uncomfortable. I used to tell my husband, but he would blow it off as "he's just like that". It'll be 2 years in July since he passed. After he passed he called me ALOT for almost 2 months before he said "When you're ready to date again would you keep me in mind. I've always found you to be an exceptional woman". I just said, I'm flattered, but i don't think i could date one of my husband's friends. Most AWKWARD conversation I've EVER had!
Love Rick Springfield! ❤️ A great iconic song. 😊
I've been real down, so catching up...but wowow thanks so much, MY FIRST POSTER... IN PURPLE SUIT...
OMGOODNESS GRACIOUS ALIVE 💜😏
BEEN MY FAVORITE SONG WHEN I WAS YOUNG … LOL I AM GAY… LOL 😂
🤯🤯🤯😂😂😂😂 love the 'paused' faces .. again guys ..
☮️💖
Thank you Michael
He was in love a girl dating his buddy…I think a lot of guys have experienced that…he’s not coming on at all. He just wishes he had her instead. Just about every guy growing up had a buddy land a girl they would have wanted to…there is another song from the same time period “She’s My Best Friend’s Girl - and She Used To Be Mine”
♥Rick Springfield = Dr. Noah Drake, General Hospital..
Those were the days 😊
Did y'all know Rick Springfield was an actor and played a doctor on a TV soap opera.... General Hospital maybe...?
Hahaha😁
Yes and i married him!
1st huzband was a mistake. 2nd married for 30 years and counting. 💕💕
Was worth watching just to see your expressions. So genuine and hilarious.. Love you both.
Absolutely loved the reaction! Keep em coming!!
Good Vibes with Rick Springfield
Blue October - Into the Ocean or Linkin Park - Waiting for the End.
Blue October is criminally underrated!!
Yes please, anything from either one of those bands 🎶🎵
He's just wishing and hoping..he would NEVER do anything to his friend! First heard this on "General Hospital" when Rick was playing a Doctor!! LOVE this! A BOP!!!
It's just a song lol, I loved watching Rick Springfield play doctor Noah Drake on General hospital. The original doctor Mcdreamy.
He had quite a few hits, Love Somebody, Don't Talk To Strangers, I've Done Everything For You just to name a few.
If im Jessie....gotta put hands on rick😂😂👌🏽
Gotta love Rick Springfield man!
There's a sequel to this song, Jessie's Girl 2 by Coheed and Cambria ft. Rick Springfield
There was a sequel made to this song called Jessie's Girl 2. It's by Coheed and Cambria featuring Rick Springfield.
"Why CAN'T I find a girl like that"? Of Course most every guy has been, you just don't act on it.....1967
Hello Shawn & Mel.
The other 2 DID go out of line to a certain extent.)
I never dumped either of my 1st 2 boyfriends that were in this situation with me (even though I DID find both of those other guys my type) because I was in a relationship already & was loyal.
Love Rick Springfield music
Yeah, but that jawline though. I'd be dumping Jessie for Rick. Hey Shawn, I heard his next version is 'I Wish That I had Shawn's Lady.'
Wanna hear a shocking song of his? Check out Three Warning Shots. It's a song written to the guy that killed John Lennon. GRESAT SONG!!
try jesse’s girl 2 by coheed & cambrea with rick sprngfield
I have a suggestion you’ll like. IT’S A SHAME by J J Malone off the See Me Early In The Morning album. I just discovered and I’m like where’s this been?!? 😁
you should do "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne...
Sound's like Soap 🧼 suds, bud...wash her from your brain & down the drain.
Check out Inside Sylvia, but find the video of him singing in his living room! Just him and a guy on the piano, amazing!
"Sarah " by Sam and Ruby. You WON'T be disappointed 😌
love love this song. It is just a song. Rick has been married to the same woman since 1984 Rick is still sexy as hell at 72 yrs of age.. Love your reaction my friends. love from Memphis Tn.
Rick Springfield was also Zac in the original Battlestar Galactica.
Made this joke a while ago
Jessies coworker: hey man don’t you have a friend named Rick?
Jessie: yea why?
Coworker: you might wanna turn up the radio 😬
I woulda left jessie for Rick anyday 🔥🔥🔥
I know I'm telling my age, but I first knew of Rick Springfield when he portrayed Dr. Noah Drake on the daytime soap opera General Hospital. He was the reason some women watched.
He even played the guitar with animosity. 👍
This song had every teen saying "oooo pick me, right here, pick me"
Lolol
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Isobel Goudie
How many girls in high school had a crush on thier good friends girl/boy. It happens all the time. You dont do anything about it. Great song. Rick Springfield was guy whose poster was on my wall back in the day!
This is the only song I know of that contains the word "moot." It's just a stupid little fact trapped in my head....lol.
No respect for the code. You don’t lust after your boys woman…..idc if they break up or he dies….get your own
This singer Rick Springfield was an actor and was on General Hospital just prior yo this so g being released
A great little bit of trivia that might interest everyone is, Spider (Neil Geraldo), Pat Benatar's husband, played the lead guitar on this song.
He's dreaming, he won't get Jessie's girl, nope no way. I think he'll behave. It's nice to want things, dreams are nice. see he's going to try and get a girl like that. Hope he keeps looking. LOL You guys are so funny.
This was a bop back in the day lol. Not the best message though. He redeems himself with his song, "Love Somebody". You should check that one out!
If I remember right he wrote this about a couple he went to night school with....I believe that's the story he said...
He had many other great hits -we were all very impressed with Rick Springfield back in the day.
Ud be surprised how many males in ur life (brothers, cousins, uncles, friends) u have that actually and secretly crush on ur girl….it’s very common and most people find out after a break up and some even find out before then
He wants Jessie's girl, but doesn't, go for it. Because it's, Jessie's girl
Classic Reaction! An if I was Jessie, I'd have to say Rick, buddy, you need to talk to these 2 hands!
i've never had any feelings for any of my friend's girlfriends but my younger brother RIP had a friend of his hitting on his girl and pretty much cut the friendship out until years later obviously wasn't that good a friend because the man didn't show up to my brother's wake.
