For real.. if you’re a true Sublime fan, you know how much Bradley loved his Dog even let alone his only son!!!! He doesn’t have to try to be anything other than himself… Bradley is a part of him already.
We got our tix for Sublime in Orlando, can’t believe it, I was 17 in ‘96, just so happy to see this happen… and so happy for not just Jakob but Eric and Bud, they deserve this so mich
You’re lucky bro. I’m from Orlando- now I live on Maui. But I didn’t find out about Sublime and how much I loved them until summer 96’😢 I bought 3 albums from Peaches on E. colonial. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on music in one day. ❤
I think all Sublime fans need to see this interview with our nephew. We adore you Jakob. You don't have to try, you just have to be you and magic happens. I lost my dad when I was 14 and he was 43. I'm now 43. My dad loves and played music 🎸. Also, I think growing up that way/environment gives you that passion and pain needed for this kind of thing. Much love and success to you. Thanks for this interview brother!! ❤
As someone who saw sublime live in 1995 I'm beyond stoked to see Jakob fill in for his dad is just perfect. It's always been the music of choice for me while waxing my boards getting ready to surf, it's just the vibes that make me feel alive. I never realized how much this music affects me until I saw sublime at Coachella. Sublime is back. RIP Bradley but man your son is killing it👍. I think I can speak for other Sublime fans in saying this is huge!!
I like the fact that he explained it more now I understand alot more why he did this.. not just for show he has heart I can see that.. the fact that he doesn't take it for granted shows how much respect he has for the band and his family great kid . Bradley would be proud 🥲😃😊
Bravo Jakob for carrying the Torch! Love this new version of Sublime. You make a lot of Sublime fans Happy! You make my heart Happy. Magical 28 years, so spiritual. Bless Your soul, for carrying this musical journey onward & upward. You are cleaning the Karma of tragedy. Keep Kicking ass
Great young man. Extremely talented. And seems to have a really good head on his shoulders. Best of luck to Jakob and sublime. The fans really appreciate what they're doing.
I remember being devasted upon hearing about Bradleys death. He was such a great entertainer, and such a shame that he passed right when Sublime was really making a name for themselves . Best wishes to you Jakob . Thanks for keeping the vibe going!!
i am 44 yr old and a Sublime fan. Today i learned about Jakob Nowell, i really hope and wish all the best to Jakob. He is bright and he has a lot of potential as a musician!
I have been sober for almost 4 years from a 12 year hell. I can relate to Jakob. My dad was also a musician and grew up with stories about him jamming with the velvet underground, having dinner with The Rolling Stones and made guitars for Keith Richard’s, ect. I was surrounded by the rock lifestyle even as a child playing Barbie’s in the room next door while my dad was playing music with drinking buddies and in the room next to me. I have major hearing loss lol. But overall, I had the muse bug and started playing music to express myself but I added drugs into the mix. The relationship was so good but so depressing at the same time. I haven’t picked up a guitar in 6 months. It makes me happy but since I related my drug use w/ playing music, having a hard time. Thank you Jakob, I think I will take my fake nails off and tune up.
Me too my sister. Finally broke away from opiates after 20 years. How I'm alive idk but I'm here and still taking it a day at a time 8 years later. Proud of you for real.
I’ve been going down a Jakob Nowell rabbit hole, listening to all the music he’s ever made that’s available online AND watching every interview. This so far is in the top 3. I sincerely enjoyed it. Thank you
Thx for sharing your story Jakob. As a Sublime fan and a fellow sober person I really found it interesting and inspiring. Not gonna lie, super stoked you e decided to take on the roll of lead singer for Sublime, but also just checked out Jakobs Castle on Spotify and I’m diggin it! Cheers man! Thx for sharing.
Listened to this interview and coming back to watch the video after seeing Jakobs Castle the other night. Listening to him talk about trying or not trying to emulate his dad’s sound, his singing with Jakobs Castle blows me away because it sounds so much like Bradley even more than when he’s singing Sublime songs because he owns it. Also cool to see him sober up there because his vocals are soooooo perfect-the pitch and agility were just amazing. Excited to see what happens for Jakob personally and with his uncles in Sublime!
What a great interview! I had no idea he was so intelligent and well spoken, and didn't know much about his journey, but I'm so glad I watched this. He's a really impressive guy and he's awesome with Sublime
If i can be jealous of 1 person, it would be this guy. Please stay away from heroin/fentanyl!! Make your dad proud bro! I can't wait to hear what's next
What an amazing interview. As someone who discovered sublime when what I got came out and never got to see Brad, I enjoyed seeing Sublime with Rome several times at festivals, but it felt less and less genuine each time. Jakob is authentic and great in his own right. The new single with Stick Figure is a banger!
NO WAY!!!! Jakob thank you for doing this !! I can’t imagine the stress of filling those shoes . I never got to see your dad in concert. Thank you for picking up the torch I can’t wait to see you in concert. Definitely just made my night!!
What a fuckin great interview Dave, and Jakob.... love u guys. Respect and blessings. Dave u dint know how many tuned in the past couple years I had to fight back tears listening to ur podcast man. U mean so much to so many people. Don't do drugs homie. We need more like u on this earth. Blessings and respect.
I absolutely love sublimes music. You can tell that Jakob Nowells is a well-rounded human with a strong spirit, which only adds to the bands legacy. That being said, i hope people don't start to ask more of him as if he owes others something. He seems fairly graounded, which is a great quality when it comes to being associated with such a great band.
Great interview! Jakob seems like a great guy. Sorry to hear he had to go through shit. I'm glad he was able to turn his life around because he has so much to offer as a musician and singer. I look forward to seeing him live someday! 🌞
This young man's father made so much money and quite an impact musically. It saddens me to think that he had to grow up in that type of environment. I think that had his father lived, his musical contributions would have changed the scene tremendously. He's very well spoken, really intelligent, nice looking. I certainly wish the best for him.
They discuss it in the interview-Brad died JUST as Sublime was hitting it big so unfortunately they didn’t ever have the opportunity to your big and make money
Incredible interview Dopey. My wife and I feel the same when we hear his voice. I get emotional and miss my dad but the whole time Jacob sings I’m happy. He has a great head on his shoulders and he deserves every blessing to come.
I love this kid! Gosh, I just know his dad is proud! And my goodness he sounds just like him😢 he was so good at Coachella! Is it confirmed that he’s the new lead singer?
He is. Sublime with Rome are playing previously scheduled dates for 2024, but Sublime is playing a few festivals with Jakob and then in 2025 it’s Jakob as front man
Fucking awesome! I grew up on Bradley Nowell. A true fucking legend. I just wrote to the Bradley Nowell foundation regarding a matter concerning my blog. Jakob is definitely doing the dew. Ur both rockstars! Thank you for this, Dopey! 😊

Couldn’t agree more!!! People need to stay sober and learn how to get high on just life, love and experiences!!! That should be more than enough! You can fill your life with experiences that feed your soul and give you joy! You don’t have to use drugs and alcohol to get that. You really don’t. PS! I knew one day this would come. And I’m so glad it has finally came.Blessing having Brads son take over for his dad at the same age Brad left us
I'm awestruck by how forthright Jakob is with his story. Really impressive for him to be 28 and have these experiences and relate them in this way.
