- Dallas Mavericks NBA Draft News: With the #51 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks select Melvin Ajinca from France. The Mavericks traded up from the #58 pick to acquire Ajunca in Round 2 of the NBA Draft. Mavs GM Nico Harrison is looking to improve the Mavericks roster around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and he’s attempting to do so by picking Ajinca, a forward out of France. Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd will have to figure out how to incorporate Ajinca into the Mavericks plans, and whether or not he will spend the majority of the 2024-25 NBA Season in the NBA G-League with the Texas Legends, or even overseas as a potential draft-and-stash. From what I’ve seen Ajinca is a spot up 3 shooter that hits corner 3s, has a quick release, can move without the ball, can score off the dribble, scores at all 3 levels, find his teammates, athletic, fast in transition, don’t know how he’ll be in NBA speed but that 3 goes and he learns to defend might be something
