Mayhem also took a picture of the dead body the band member, and used it as an album cover. The guy on the cover killed himself with a shotgun after slicing his wrist with a knife. His suicide note said "Excuse all the blood, cheers"
Dawn of the Blackhearts is an awesome album. Dead helped to shape the 2nd wave of Black Metal with his visions. If you are a Mayhem fan, you know the deal. If not, just shut up.

Demi Jaymes Euronymous was the only one thrilled by the suicide. Necrobutcher left out of digust for Euronymous's behavior and was replaced by Varg. Like with most things, Hellhammer really didn't care either way.
I’d have left the band as well. There is a line between fascination and morbidity and doing something inhumane and immoral like capitalizing off of your presumed friends suicide. I mean a murderer would be more trust worthy and have more honor to their name than that idiot.
Hey the genie case really isn’t nightmare fuel. She was brought up in a lot the psychology classes I had taken for my degree. She did live a somewhat normal life after being removed from her biological parents but it wasn’t a happy story either :(

For example wrapping bacon around you're throat was believed to cure a sore throat. Humans back then as they are now, are trying to illiminate as many illnesses as possible. Current hard drugs were once over the counter medicine. The simple fact is as long as humans have existed so have searches for cures. Beliefs held in history albeit awful were normal. However humans eventually realized it was not the case. In order to understand one aspect of one anchient civilization you must understand most if not all of their culture.

i was on my dad’s computer once, looking through wikipedia. keep in mind, i was young, around 7-8. for some reason, i had taken an interest in biology. mainly learning about leprosy. i found the disease grotesque and just sad, but i still was curious. after reading about leprosy on wikipedia, and not even comprehending what it said, i clicked on another page. there was a black & white image, with a heavily distorted but all around terrifying face. the person was starting at me, smiling. i quickly clicked off and had a hard time sleeping. i don’t know if a troll got a hold of editing access to the page or something, but i do know it was terrifying & definitely not fit to be on an informational site.

The band members and friends have discussed a lot lately about the "brain stew" thing being a Euronymous lie. Nobody ate any part of Dead's brain or head. The necklaces are real, though; Fenriz has one. Or at least he says he does.
Euronymous of Mayhem actually took a picture of Dead while he was lying dead in his own blood with his brain splashed over the table. You can find the image by searching for "Dawn Of The Black Hearts". And btw, Mayhem are great guys. I had a chat with a few of them. Attila and Hellhammer are some of the nicest musicians I've ever met.

I love that the Band Mayhem is on here! I have been a fan of the band for many years. I will say that their earlier years were very crazy. These days, they are a little more tame and one of the greatest Black Metal bands of all time.
I like Mayhem's music, but they do have a very dark history. Dead really needed help and it's shame he didn't get it, which I think is at least partially due to the other band members being so enabling to him.

That poor little girl-Genie-after being freed from her room-prison (and the lights were never on, either), ended up being a research subject for years, and the social workers who first “saved” her eventually abandoned her. This little girl was treated terribly, even by those who were supposed to help her. Last I read about her, she was in a facility for disabled adults. So sad.
No, no, no. The social workers & several others on this case attempted to adopt her! They all tried several times & were stopped each time. Eventually they were taken off her case completely & were threatened with loss of employment by higher ups if they continued to involve themselves. They did not abandoned her. Their hearts were in the right places. However, they all likely had spouses, kids even, homes to pay for. They had to put their families first.

i was on my dad’s computer once, looking through wikipedia. keep in mind, i was young, around 7-8. for some reason, i had taken an interest in biology. mainly learning about leprosy. i found the disease grotesque and just sad, but i still was curious. after reading about leprosy on wikipedia, and not even comprehending what it said, i clicked on another page. there was a black & white image, with a heavily distorted but all around terrifying face. the person was starting at me, smiling. i quickly clicked off and had a hard time sleeping. i don’t know if a troll

It was more than a suicide note with Mayhem. Dead shot himself in the head with a shotgun and the bandmate took a photo of his mutilated body and used it as their next album cover. There's a documentary all about these guys but I can't remember the name of it lol it was on Netflix, not sure if it's still there.
Mustard Tiger um he actually slit his wrists, slit his throat, then shot himself in the head. In the note he also said which is kinda funny but also sad asf, “I’m sorry about the blood”😢

Just as a bit of extra info about mayhem, after dead committed suicide, drummer hellhammer made a necklace out of pieces of his skull and guitarist euronymous partially cooked and ate his brain and also mailed out pieces of his skull to others, plus, in 1993, euronymous was murdered by the band's bassist count grishnackh

I love that the Band Mayhem is on here! I have been a fan of the band for many years. I will say that their earlier years were very crazy. These days, they are a little more tame and one of the greatest Black Metal bands of all time.

I like Mayhem's music, but they do have a very dark history. Dead really needed help and it's shame he didn't get it, which I think is at least partially due to the other band members being so enabling to him.

That poor little girl-Genie-after being freed from her room-prison (and the lights were never on, either), ended up being a research subject for years, and the social workers who first “saved” her eventually abandoned her. This little girl was treated terribly, even by those who were supposed to help her. Last I read about her, she was in a facility for disabled adults. So sad.

No, no, no. The social workers & several others on this case attempted to adopt her! They all tried several times & were stopped each time. Eventually they were taken off her case completely & were threatened with loss of employment by higher ups if they continued to involve themselves. They did not abandoned her. Their hearts were in the right places. However, they all likely had spouses, kids even, homes to pay for. They had to put their families first.

I have Mayhem's album (in fact I have their whole discography) entitled "Dawn of the Black Hearts" where Dead's corpse's picture is used as artwork.
He used to carry a dead raven in a plastic bag in his pocket to "smell death" from time to time, and often used clothes he had buried for several days before their shows.
But in his last note (he killed himself aged 21) he wrote "sorry for the blood", having sliced his wrists then shot himself considering it took too much time to bleed dry...
