good stuff. glad to see the sound matches the description. I notice a lot of punks forming death and black metal bands and putting '/crust punk' as part of the description when there's no punk parts in it at all. I love the idea of punks forming metal bands, but it doesn't make the music partly punk just because the members are punks. you should have punk riffs in it if its labeled that way. I love any genre that clearly mixes extreme metal with hardcore/crust punk. And these guys sound like their description.
Massgrave from Canada is great example of that. Not only do they have parts that are distinctly crust, death metal, grind, hardcore punk, and even a rare black metal moment on a song or two. but there are also individual riffs/parts where its any number of these things blurred together at once seamlessly. Basically what you have is what should be called and considered 'Extreme Crossover'. Its just like in the mid/late 80s when they used the term 'Crossover' to describe bands like S.O.D/M.O.D, D.R.I, and Agnostic Front but its newer and more extreme. Back then the "crossover" bands sounded like thrash metal meets hardcore punk. Then the whole Grindcore thing was starting to define itself and soon after a Death Metal mixed with Crust Punk sound became more common after that. With both being even more speed obsessed, heavier/harsher, and therefore extreme outgrowths of Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk. That's what makes Crossover as a whole a favorite for me. I considered myself a Death Metal guy fundamentally but ended up becoming addicted to Grindcore. Something about the fusion between metal and punk makes them infinitely more powerful than either are by themselves. Extreme Metal itself was spawned from Thrash Metal that couldn't've even have existed with out the enormous influence on sound and attitude it had on the entire scene at the time.
@@sambrowne5196 That's because they're a Grind band; which is just that: Hardcore & Metal. Even "Hardcore" was just Metal-influenced Punk Rock. I admit that looking for good Crust bands, just stumble upon mountains of (Bad Metal) "Crust" bands. I'm looking for Some State of Fear/Consume-sounding shit. Loox like I'll have to start a band after all. Shit. Cheers to the MTL scene. Snara, Ultrarat, Fractured etc.
Nice stuff, i like Dekonstrukt! By the way, i'd like to find some modern bands on single kick similar to Repulsion, very death metal but without the typical double bass drumming.
We gonna play a gig with these guys in 2 weeks. Can't wait!
In what band do you play ?
Stoked to play with you.
