The word that comes after ‘must stop play’ in 32.4 if it’s of any importance is immediately, and the goal happens during the continuation of play. Linesmen should have to call their shots and signal penalties like the referees for this rule to have any integrity. This league’s rule book is becoming more of a choose your own adventure booklet of suggestions.
It's Sabres. They do it every season. Couple good games to start, everybody thinks this is the year they break the play-off drout, then they blow it off, only to win a few games in spring to give fans hope for the upcoming season. Then it all repeats.
At this point, I don't know what you do to save the Sabres. I would say a new owner would solve this team's issues, but I doubt a new owner would keep them in Buffalo if Terry Pegula decided to sell up. Sabres fans are probably stuck in hell until a new owner finally comes in and relocates the team to Houston or something.
There's actually a team in the league with one less point than Buffalo, the Predators. 9-17-7 ouch that's rough. (Blackhawks aren't much better as well)... Though Buffalo does have the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
can we talk about how the officials seem to have it out for the Sabres. in the montreal game the puck went off the refs skate into the slot for a free goal. Then a ref calls a goal after it clearly goes off the post. then Benson tries for a break away gets hauled down and he gets the penalty. they call so many penalties on that kid hes 19 like 5'9, 180 pounds, he cant physically commit penalties. Then this game happens. Maybe the nhl wants pegula to sell the team so they are just giving it to the Sabres to make them suck so he sells. im not coping you are
I know Buffalo is terrible and the refs probably feel like there is no ramifications if they make a bad call against them, but they can't be calling penalties retroactively. Unless it's a rulebook specific infraction like goalie interference, you can't penalize a team after you allow the play to move on. They miss high stick calls, tripping, boarding, etc. all the time and they never huddle up after the play is over to correct the mistake. I ain't even a Buffalo fan but that was really bush league and I think they should protest that game.
Worst part is that it was just a bloody nose… if it cut the dudes face open I get it but a bloody nose is just absurd that happens every game and it’s never a 4 min let alone getting a goal called back..
The replay clearly gave the wording of the rule, 32.4, and it applied 100% to this call. He has to confirm there was indeed an injury on the play at the next stoppage, which unfortunately for you guys, was the goal that had to be called back.
Dude literally last night during Overtime, Jonathan Huberdeau was high sticked and left laying bleeding in the Ottawa trapezoid, while the Ottawa players went down to the Flames’ end and scored the GWG. The goal should’ve been called back, and furthermore, the double minor penalty should’ve been called immediately when it happened. Ottawa did NOT win that game fairly, and then the players go on to celebrate it like they did something so awesome and cool. Garbage organization in a garbage league with garbage referees. The blatantly anti-Calgary biased officiating is off the charts this year. The league stole the 2004 Cup from us. They’ve stole multiple playoff series from us. And they’ve stole dozens and dozens of games from us over the years with calls like this. It is a genuine rarity when we get FAIR officiating. Not biased in our favour, but just FAIR. But like Buddy said, they refs don’t give a flying fuck because Calgary’s smaller than Toronto and we don’t have Gretzky’s coattails to ride on for decades and decades so our fanbase is smaller than Toronto and Edmonton, which means the refs think they can just get away with it……..and they do. Game after game. Years after year. Zero accountability. Zero remorse. Zero effort to do better and be fair. Dennis Wideman did nothing wrong.
It's hard to get off a losing streak with all the stress put on them by coaches, fans, and media. The more stress the more mistakes. Someone needs to get them out of their heads and back on the ice. 🤞🏻
Except for that pesky HD quality video review which clearly showed the infraction and resulting injury. So, no. The linesman didn't 'just tell the ref he saw an infraction to call it off.'
@@HarryBallzencoque Fair, but I mean lots of little slashes and whatnot get ignored that could easily be called upon after a goal is scored. It isn't being taken advantage of at least so whatever.
we are now back to brett hull levels of goalie interference. so many goals called back because somehow the blue paint is holy ground and even a nudge is enough to overturn? There is such an absurd level of calls being challenged that it takes the pace out of the game and allows trefs to determine outcomes.total bullshit
I'm so tired of all these goals being called back. The NHL needs to figure something out, because this happens almost every game and it kills the mood every time. Especially the offside challenge. Are we really going to start counting down to the micromillimeters that a skate blade was over the line?
I say yes because in certain situations it could cost a team a much needed W, like the Sabres need now. They actually laxed the rule that the skate doesn't have to be on the ice, it just has to be before the in the blue.
Offsides is not the same as a missed penalty. You *have* to have a line in order to define offsides, and in order to keep the integrity of that line intact you have to enforce it by however little necessary. I think there should be a 5 minute time limit where if the call can't be made definitively either way within those 5 minutes then the call on the ice should stand, but ultimately if you can be two millimeters offside then you can be two meters offside too. Having said all that though, this new rule is definitely backwards. Not only does it try to apply retroactive analysis to a game happening live and in progress, by its own admission the linesman didn't immediately stop play to inform the referee and therefore the right to invoke it should have been waived anyway. It's one thing to try and correct a play that violates a fundamental aspect of the very sport itself, but giving referees more chances to call penalties is just beaurocracy on ice.
@@icedo1013 He said especially the offsides so I was addressing that specifically. As far as giving the linesmen more control, I don't see a big issue with it. Especially if its a blatant high stick, spear, etc. The video showed 2 rules, one where he immediately stops play after a double minor(blood), which he clearly didn't see. The other was to inform the ref after a stoppage in play, which in this case was a goal.
So Toronto gets to have a goal called back due to a double minor penalty, but JUST LAST NIGHT Calgary had the exact same penalty committed against us and the refs DIDN’T call the double minor high sticking penalty that was committed against Jonathan Huberdeau in Overtime, a penalty which led to Huberdeau down and bleeding at the other end of the ice while Ottawa went to the other side of the ice up a man and got to score a goal and have it count. It’s not just bad officiating. It’s PREFERENTIAL OFFICIATING and the league and the refs CLEARLY favour some teams over others. If the same thing that happened to the Flames last night happened tonight with the Leafs tonight, every sports channel would be CRYING LIKE HELL about it. Yet when it happens to Calgary, absolute fucking crickets. This league is a goddamn joke. Dennis Wideman did absolutely nothing wrong. These refs deserve to be held accountable for their bad play too, and if the league won’t do it, then the players should be able to hold them to account on the ice. Enough is enough. The league has stolen a Stanley Cup from us. Multiple playoff series. Dozens and dozens of games. Enough is enough.
Have you ever seen a goal get called back like Buffalo's first was? Such a strange sequence..

Check out the ending sequence to the Calgary Ottawa game last night. Toronto gets good calls. Calgary gets screwed by the league, time and time again.
12 In a row is so brutal that I’m speechless lol
This guys were sitting in Top 3 of their division a month ago. How that is even possible?
ao a couple games into the season ? how impressive
@18wheeler 2 months into the season is a couple games?
It's Sabres. They do it every season. Couple good games to start, everybody thinks this is the year they break the play-off drout, then they blow it off, only to win a few games in spring to give fans hope for the upcoming season. Then it all repeats.
well they're on a 12 game losing streak, that's how

These keep me into NHL
I have seen so many cases where high sticks has caused bloody noses etc yet never been called even after the whistle.
That really has nothing to do with the play here though. The lineman saw it.
Can somebody get this team a Christmas miracle lmao
having a goal called back and getting a double minor is the most sabres thing ever 😂😂😂

Keep going, bro! Love it.
Any team looking to win Stanley Cup - Take a player from Sabres 😅
Apparently, if there's no blood, there's no injury. :)
Kelly Sutherland is a terrible officiate
The worst
Official
The second called off goal would have made it 4-5, not 5-5.
he’s also taking into account the first disallowed goal
Does this guy have other channels? His voice sounds super familiar
I swear I’m subscribed to 3 hockey channels that are just the same guy, they all sound the same!

Don't you just miss the good ole days ... when this reply shit didn't exist
Seems like an easily manipulative rule; linesman doesn't like a goal so he just tells the ref he saw an infraction and to call it off.
Except for that pesky HD quality video review which clearly showed the infraction and resulting injury. So, no. The linesman didn't 'just tell the ref he saw an infraction to call it off.'

Lindsperson, not lindsman.
This team is absolutely terrible! They have quit and management has to step up 🐂💩😑
Yo what’s good?
Why that guy dressed as the Grinch?
What type of question is this?
That's the real Grinch have some respect
He was dressed as Gary Bettman.
2 goals called back for stupid reasons.
firstttt i love your videos bro
Appreciate it!

3 first-round defensemen, loads of scoring talent, and decent goaltending.
