Half of them are mixed. The browner ones are probably full or close to full. The indians on the east coast are more mixed than the ones in the west due to population percentage. Certain tribes allow membership when you have less than 50% Native DNA. The Utes in Utah don't allow you to be a member unless you're at least 5/8 or something. I am half Ute half white and i can't be a registered tribal member with them.

apparently, from what ive heard, the term "redskins" doesn't even have to do with skin color, it was because native warriors would use red war paint before their raids on white settlers, so the term "redskins" meant indians on the war path and was obviously a warning cry to defend yourself, because you were probably going to end up without a scalp. That's described as the little things, the meaning of certain gestures, how one is expected to compose themself in public, how an outsider may show respect, things of that nature. Some of my in-laws are also native american so I can say this with at least some confidence because they look nearly identical, the only difference being their actual geographical location. In this group of stooges who were asking questions, only 1 of them shared these facial features and the skin color.

I actually grew up on a reservation, and yes there are a few full natives as well as people who celebrate native traditions, but they are still rare. My point was that native Americans only make up about 2% percent of the American population, many of which are mixed (like me and my mom), and impoverished. Half of them are mixed. The browner ones are probably full or close to full. The indians on the east coast are more mixed than the ones in the west due to population percentage. Certain tribes allow membership when you have less than 50% Native DNA. The Utes in Utah don't allow you to be a member unless you're at least 5/8 or something. I am half Ute half white and i can't be a registered tribal member with them.

GEMINI FAXX Well, there is no one solid definition of white culture here in the States, much like there is no single definition for Asian or European culture.
I came across a rather interesting article on the subject of culture, and that helped me to build an explanation of what is white culture.
The article defines culture in two senses: culture with a big c, and culture with a little c. Culture with a big c is what people typically think of when they hear the word 'culture'. The traditions, the rituals, the celebrations, etc. For example, the Sun Dance ritual for the Native American people. Christmas and Halloween both got their start as Pagan holidays in Europe, Yule and Samhain, so those can be considered a part of white culture. All things typically associated with the Wild West can also be considered a part of white culture, including rodeos, country music, and the traditional cowboy style dress. Alot of modern inventions, such as the car, the lightbulb, and the phone, can be considered part of white culture since they were invented by white men (many of whom lived here in the States).
And then there's what the article defines as culture with a little c. That's described as the little things, the meaning of certain gestures, how one is expected to compose themself in public, how an outsider may show respect, things of that nature. For example, the handshake, which is a gesture of trust and respect, and can carry different specific meanings throughout different cultures. Part of our way of composition is a preference to observe an appearance of cordiality and friendliness, even when faced with a different opinion. We would also speak very directly about certain things, whereas for Native Americans for example, indirectness is the preferred approach. We would look directly at you to signal your turn for something, we prefer to rely on facts and statistics to back up a conversation, and we employ very little public contact, aside from the traditional handshake to greet someone. All of these sorts of things can be seen as part of a culture.

I actually grew up on a reservation, and yes there are a few full natives as well as people who celebrate native traditions, but they are still rare. My point was that native Americans only make up about 2% percent of the American population, many of which are mixed (like me and my mom), and impoverished.
