okay so I saw this explained in the comments abouyt Enamourus and I think it explains how it fits SUPER WELL. but the Genies Therian forms are very resonant to the four chinese cardinal directions with North being Tornadus is the Vermillion Bird, Landorus is the White Tiger, Enamourus is the Black Tortoise and Thundurus (Possibly also the only one that is also even remotely close to the original color) is the Azure Dragon... SO like Enamourus fits WAY MORE than it looks, trust me I thought it was weird too but yeah. I also kinda love: 1. 5:25: If, given that Stantler and Scyther are still with us in the modern days of the game, the in universe explanation in probably that the move your supposed to use 20+ times in a row to get Wyrdeer has become a lost attack, and the evolution method to get Syther to become Klevor is also lost to time, I could really see a saga in the anime where Ash catches a Scyther, and then him and Goh go on one of there journeys to rediscover stuff and Ashes Scyther and Goh's Stantler evolve, but given the anime's track record, we all know an awesome idea like that would never happen.
fun story about Sliggoo and Goodra: the actual mythical creatures they were based on actually have shells. like Sliggoo was based on a Lou Carcolh, a super imposing giant snail monster, and Goodra is based on the Shussebora, a yokai that was once a sea snail turning into a dragon after many, many years. so technically: these are the stronger versions of these Pokemon, even more sos since they are part Steel types. also, H. Goodra is down right adorable when it shoots back into it's shell. it's an absolute favorite of mine now.
also: i have to add i love that they liked Voltorb and Electrode's looks in this game. i mean, i feel in love with Voltorb when it was first revealed. like they changed it just enough to be different from the original thing and i just have to have one on my team when i get the game. Electrode is cool too but i don't know if i like it as much.
If you think about it Dialga and Palkia's design makes sense since with Dialga's throat blocked and Palkia's arms removed they cant use Roar of time and Spatial rend respectively, as well as that they might be based off of some biblically accurate creature cause they kinda give that vibe
Error: Wyrdeer is marked as Normal/Fairy instead of the proper Normal/Psychic Edit: Another one: Typhlosion is marked as Water/Ghost instead of Fire/Ghost

H-Sliggoo and H-Goodra are based on the Shussebora, a Snail who's lived long enough to become a dragon. Sneasler seems to be based off a Ōnyūdō, a tall humanoid that causes those who look at it to fall ill.
5:46 little thing I'd like to add: "orso" is bear in Italian and "luna" is moon, so the little moon he has on the face whit the mud looking like clouds covering it makes even more sense to me, as an Italian. There are latin origins from many pokemons, like this one or kleavor, because "clava" is an ancient weapon (The translation from google is club, correct if I'm wrong) and the idea it represents, like a stone ancient version makes even more sense

11:16 Weird way to say "The worst one." They just colored his horn black. I don't mind that, but at least with the other starters, there's nice details that make it really stand out from the originals. But if I glanced at Samurott, I could easily mix the two forms up.
ok, so I'm gonna dump some serious trivia about not only the new Genie but also the old originals: so they are all based about the Four Auspicious Beasts. four Chinese mythical beasts that are guardians of the directions of the world. they are the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermilion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West and the Black Tortoise of the North. grant it, the colors don't really match up, but considering they are also based on well known Kami that differ with elements and such like Wind, Thunder, the Earth and all that. so them being colored for the element they are makes more sense and seeing as Enamorus is party fairy, i can forgive it not being black and being pink. also like the design choice of it being a softshell tortoise than just a bland tortoise at that, considering how many Pokemon we have based on that animal.
So my take on the starters I loved what they were going for with Hisuian Decidueye, its so good, I love it to death. The colors are beautiful and its distinct enough from Alolan Decidueye to let it have its own flavor. Hisuian Typhlosion looks so weird, I think they need to give it the flames permanently to make it better but still, something about it being all sleek compared to Johtohian (?) Typhlosion is so off-putting to me. Now I think they got the concept of Samurott down here. I wish they could have done a little more and pushed the silhouette a bit , but for what they did I think its enough. He's an edgy pallet swap and by god do I love it. In the future they certainly need to go the direction of Decidueye, same concept as the og starter but pushed a bit towards the time period/ enough to make it distinct from the og. If we get another legends game (and please, GIVE US ANOTHER LEGENDS GAME), I want to see it take place in Unova, they could push the aethetics a bit to make it just around industrial age/ 1920s. From my understanding most pokemon regions are based around japan, so going for the feudal japan aesthetics would get stale fast. Having a Unova Legends game be a bit more modern but still in that "undeveloped lands" sort of area would be really fun to me. Ive personally never been too into feudal japan aesthetics so this is totally me just asking game freak to make "me" a pokemon game, but just another experience like Legends Arceus would be awesome.
So, being the huge Alola fan I am, I originally really hated Decidueye's new form, but after my Dartrix became Hisuian Decidueye, it actually started to grow on me.
Zoroark is based on Tamame No Mae, Growlithe and Arcanine are Komainu guardians but more prominently than the originals (Funny fact the Horns on their statues kept falling off which also happens to the Growlithe), Kleavor is based on Shibata Katsuie, Wyrdeer is based on how White Deer in Shinto mythos are messengers of god, Goodra and Sliggoo are based on the Shussebora along with Scaly foot snails and the Carcohl, Sneasler is a Kamatachi and an ice climber (It has ice pick claws and spiked tufts of fur on its feet for spiked boots), Avalugg is an icebreaking ship, Decidueye is a Ronin, Typhlosion is an Onmyoji Mage, Samurott is a Shogun, Palkia is based on the statue of the greek goddess Nike (which is why it has no arms), Enamourus is based on the White Snake Goddess of Wisdom and its therian form is based on the North Chinese Beast Genbu (With Thundurus being Seiryu, Tornadus being Suzaku and Landorus beying Byakko), Ursaluna is based on an Onikuma, Liligant is a Ballet dancer and a forest protector spirit, As for Overqwil im not 100% sure to be honest...it seems to be a Sea Mine and a Lionfish but other than that I'm not really sure where its ancient japanese inspiration is.

I don't think typlosion should have it's flames permanently it having it's flames all the time would go against it's chill nature
So, being the huge Alola fan I am, I originally really hated Decidueye's new form, but after my Dartrix became Hisuian Decidueye, it actually started to grow on me.
let's go another huge alola fan like me, I finally found one
@@TheRock3tDoctor it's my favorite region, and Ultra Sun is my favorite Pokemon game (though Legends Arceus may take that spot soon)
Lockstin and Gnoggin just did a video about its origins. It's also a very educational video in general. Highly suggest you watch it.
Nah tell me why dialga built like squidward choking on a fork
"[Lilligant] isn't going to move much, this is game freak"
Honestly, some it am biased because i used him for the full game but i really like the new design for decidueye
4:59 aha they mistakingly used the fairy type symbol for psychic
Something I noticed, Palkia and Dialga are meant to resemble Arceus. Notice the lack of arms and horse-like body.
10:58 Typhlosion: water,ghost 😳😳
What do you use to animate?
