Jengar Such a shame that Gaijin heavily nerfed the japanese 50 cals belts a while ago... this specially effects the Ki-44-2, I remember how I used to stomp with my Ki-44's, but these guns now...

There was a variant of this plane that had 4x20mm HO-5 cannons I believe, would be nice to see that in game but due to the firepower I’d say 4.0 BR it would probably be at
It would be hella op with 4 cannons if the flight model and performance stays the same. You can do every "fighting style" there is in this plane and it would have no flaws except the topspeed. It would certainly be at 5.0-5.3 br
There is the Ki-44-IIc which I think you are referring to. 4x Ho-3 20mm cannons and the excellent engine power from the Ki-44-II.
I’d say 4.7 to 5.3 would be a sufficient BR for it, it’s top speed may not be able to compete as well but it’s climbrate can compete easily
would be nice to see indeed!

I've had very little success with this plane in RB. Mainly crashing into ground while trying to bnz biplanes... Although I am pretty sure those are Soviet planes you're fighting in the second match :P 9:05

it's on my to do list ;) its a long list though.
It is so agile in RB that You have to press M (map) to make sure you don't started an Arcade Battle by mistake!!

You should try the Douglas SBD Dauntless with gun pod. Make the "Slow But Deadly" proud!

Great plane this is, sadly tho gaijin saw how good ki 44s are and decided to put them at higher br. Now this one sits at 2.7 and the later version is 3.7 !! That is too high imo.
I have found that Japanese planes work best under MEC settings. 100% prop pitch, 80% fuel mix, 70% rad (because it keeps both the oil and water cool and does not really interfere with performance at 70%). Try it sometime. :)

i have the whole japanese tree unlocked. This one is still good though.
I have the hardest time wih Japanese single engine fighters. Their bomber hunters are much easier. Anytime I fly the Zero sen or th Ki43, I end up shredding the wings off. The game does teach you how and why certain aircraft were successful.

What ammo do u use in Jap 12,7 guns? I cant find good belt for those.
i used stealth on this one, universal is also good.
I'm with you Dora190. 23 min to shoot down 2x Mk 2a Spitfires out of 9 in an RB test flight at Guadalcanal map. Took the Bf109 -E7 (Japanese premium) on the same map against the same AI spitfires and did the job in 7 min. I find the Japanese guns in the lower tiers absolutely painful in WT. Would love to develop the Jap tree more, but I get too frustrated at those guns.
i had no problem with these guns on my flights in this plane.
thx for replying Jengar. Obviously the 109 comes fully spaded and I was using the Stealth shells. On the Ki-44 however, the plane has never been flown in a combat match. It is completely brand new and is therefore using default rounds. Not sure if the rounds make a big difference ... maybe, but the guns themselves are not going to be as accurate. Even at 400 m range I found getting rounds on target difficult. Your Ki-44 was fully spaded - making the job easier.

I really cant fly Japanese planes, I try to go to the planes that have the most speed, like J7w1 and Ki-83. Zeros, ki-43s, and Ki-44s I cant play lol. maybe I just suck..... time to go back to p-47s.....
Adam Saulat last time I tried the J7W was garbage because those 30mm cannons didn't hit with any kind of power. Could unload all my ammo on planes and not get a kill. Ended up giving up on the Japanese line. Maybe that issue is better now.

I only really did that line to get the F-86-F40( almost have it :D), has a nice camo and I'm pretty sure its a bit more maneuverable at low speeds. But I will have to see when I get it

This is realistic mode in WT. so Myes. How that compares to reality is a different story.

Ki-44-II is faster, dives better, climbs better, but does not turn as well, its like the energy fighter version of Ki-43.
