    What I see is he comes from a financially strong family background. And in country like ours , the more money you have the more opportunities you get. Now don't get me wrong, I ain't saying he's less capable or anything like that but if someone else was equally capable as him but from a less economically prosper family background he/she wouldn't have made it.. And the other thing is his family is very supportive of him whereas most of our parents don't think education exists outside of the classroom. So I keep him under privileged category. Don't @ me.

    • @maydreams7676
      @maydreams7676 4 роки тому +55

      I was not allowed to even apply due to our financial condition, even with any amount of aid. Being from a middle class family sucks, you know about all the opportunities but you have to always mind that you do not have the money. I'd rather not know about it. I will be honest I've been planning for my own business idea since I was 12 and his journey made me quite jealous! I am only human I guess. His journey, the issue he cares about is genuinely so inspiring! I wish I was in a metropolitan city in a top school where I could get more opportunities. I do not know where I will end up, I am studying for mains 2021 (after all IIT seems like the only way out plus I love the subjects but that is not my main goal). I ain't saying I am as qualified as him or MORE qualified than him, nope not at all. I personally think everyone is capable (after all the skills you learn from practise are more valuable than inborn abilities) and what makes the difference is hard work and how much does a person wants it BUT between two people with the same amount of mixture of that when financial condition makes the difference, it just HURTS (trust me I know how unfair it feels).
      Then again as what he is doing with the opportunity is absolutely amazing and I'd rather see him as an inspiration!
      *on a side note our country really should do something about this divide*

    • @agrani6642
      @agrani6642 4 роки тому +24

      @@maydreams7676 You're not just the one. The jealousy is what actually made me comment that. It suckss how financial condition can limit someone's abilities. I'm currently in 12th , planning to apply to some colleges in abroad. I'm grateful that my parents can support me for applying there but somehow if I get accepted I'd have to find a part time job to support myself. See the chances of acceptance is extremely low considering that I'm an average kind of student, have nothing that actually stands me out from the crowd and not even financially strong soooo yeah might end up doing engineering here in Nepal eventually.
      And yeah goodluck for IIT. Heard it's tough and there's this mad competition . Nonetheless, I wish for you to succeed and get what you want!

    See what many international students (especially Indians) believe is that academics is the way to get into a good college. But at an ivy, all the applicants will have outstanding test scores, awesome grades and a super solid GPA. So you must do other things to enhance ur application and differentiate yourself from the crowds. Like starting a club at school, taking leadership, playing sports, achievements, awards, charity work, volunteering for the less fortunate etc. I’m saying this as an Indian who was lucky enough to be born and raised in the US

Still got a full-tuition scholarship, but not from a top university I dreamt of. Also, pity that most of the internationals depend hugely on financial aid meaning we have to be extremely exceptional to get in to top school with full financial aid. And generally folks applying to top tier schools have ~13 APs, he has much less. I think his overall resume is quite good, academics wise he is okay. You can try non ivy school to get into, its easy to get in their, Ivy schools are just a big brand and nothing more, its really difficult to get into ivy if you are not a legacy applicant, either that or you have to be a national/ international level sports champion. So its good to try other universities, especially if you are from engineering university ranking doesn't matter.

      I don't know how you can call this privileged, my father wore slippers made of Banana peels and had no money but still managed to become an officer.It depends on someone's hard work not position.

      @@bobtheballoon8947 kudos to your father. I am no way demeaning hardwork of his parents. But I am commenting on his capabilities to get into Stanford using his parents connection to get an internship and all. He is acting all self sufficient intellectual guy. But in reality he is just another privileged brat. I have met so many of such douches in my life.

      IAS officers don’t even earn a lot of money lmao, and it holds no value outside of India. Even if his dad was one, it definitely didn’t play any role in him joining Stanford.

      Google summer of code (Gsoc) is basically a coding competition.it is an internship , not for admission in any university or a job. You can give it in the 2nd or 3rd year of college. It is usually held in the initial months of april till may .
