My sister and I were going through our 95 year old Grandma's photo album and found a picture of our father. probably not even a year old, sitting in the yard looking cute. then we notice there's a rope around his waist tied to the porch. so we ASKED grandma about it. she's from Hungary and lived through the great depression. Lost her husband when all her kids were below the age of 10 and raised them HERSELF while working and never remarried. she's a tough lady. When asked about the rope her reply was: "well I HAD to do something. I was all alone and the little shit got into everything. they'd probably send me to jail now for it. " all while giggling. and to be fair my dad doesn't deny it. his stories from childhood suggest he may have needed that leash most of his life.
In one of the William Shakespeare related houses in the Stratford area, one a large vertical support pillar in the centre of the house there is a ring around the pillar connected to another ring. Toddlers were put into the ring so they could walk around the post, watch mum working and play with a toy, but were kept safe from the fire and she could get on with her work without having to watch the child constantly. I can't see this (or a rope round his waist) is any different to putting the child in a play pen, a cot, a door bouncer or a push chair so you can get on with essential work for a few minutes without worrying what they are doing. Or perhaps none of those options are now considered acceptable.
So true, they've lived and seen so much and have so many stories to tell. I never got to meet mine since my dad lost both parents as a child and on my mom's side her dad had already passed when I came along and her mom passed when I turned 1. Please cherish the time you have with them.

@jonel filipek It is rather soothing!!! Did you know if you talk to your plants or even talk near them they grow better? Russians figured this out by accident. They had a potted plant in an office that was more long then it was wide. The desks were lined up one behind the other against one wall leaving a walkway to get to each desk. The last desk had a plant in the corner. At one point many or all of the staff were moved out of the office and the plant was left in the back corner. It was on a military base and so cleaning was still done regularly in the room. They had a radio up by the door that as the janitor came in and went out he had to radio in he was present and leaving as did anyone still using the office. One day the janitor noticed the plant and believed it to be dead so he picked it up to dispose of it, but set it on a table by the radio so he could notify he was leaving. He left forgetting the plant. Over the next month of coming and going the janitor noticed the plant was coming back to life. So they ran experiments to see if it was the talking on the radio that brought it back, by placing same age of several plants in an area where they were cared for properly but not allowed any sound. The other group was at minimum talked to also. The plants where they were talked to were bigger healthier and more productive than the plants not allowed sound.

I'm only 61. These people remind me that the end is near. BUT it is not the destination that counts. We are all going end up at the same place. What counts is how you travel to get there. I don't want to go quietly into that dark night. I want to be celebrating like we won the NBA CHAMPIONSHIP, SUPER BOWL, ALL GOLD MDALS AT THE OLYMPICS, THE EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony Lifetime Achievement Awards) the smile and laughter from a small child, and left the world a better place for himanity. Then it is time to go.
I'm only 62 but I know that whatever time I have left I will try and make the rest of my years count. Just started to volunteer at a food pantry and always make sure I find something for someone at a thrift shop to donate to the care shelters,VA,children's hospitals, local is a great place to start kindness will make your day. ✌🏼Hope everyone has a great safe 2021.

When I was little, I was on a walk with my brother, Grandma and my Papa. We were playing truth or dare and I dared Papa to stand still for as long as he could and then he would come and catch up with us when I said he could. We went all the way up the hill and I kept looking back to see when he would start to follow us. I shouted when we got to the top, “PAPA! ARE YOU COMING?” And he said, “You didn’t tell me to come!” He stayed true to his word 😊 Miss you Papa

I’m watching this video I randomly clicked from my recommendations at 3 in the morning to sober up and the last thing I expected was to see my high school physics teacher and his wife on here
Awwww these made smile and cry. I lost my gran at 27 …. And there isn’t a day goes by that I don’t think about her. Oh by the way I’m 52 now. Keep them coming.
1:32 made me cry because that is so nice and i know what it feels like to loose a pet
I hope that you have a wonderful celebration when the time comes, but for now I'm happy that you're still here with us 😁
I'm only 62 but I know that whatever time I have left I will try and make the rest of my years count. Just started to volunteer at a food pantry and always make sure I find something for someone at a thrift shop to donate to the care shelters,VA,children's hospitals, local is a great place to start kindness will make your day. ✌🏼Hope everyone has a great safe 2021.
Same!

God bless our older generation. 👍👍😁😁👌👌👏👏
Doris kickin butt on Words with Friends
Old people are simply the best!! I worked with seniors with and without Alzheimer's and they are all funny and a lot of the so quick witted you forget their age. My dad is 79 and he's gotten even funnier with age. :)
No sir, you’re the president made me cry.
Love your parents and grandparents, while you still have them. They have great stories to tell. They are true treasures.
Back in the day when grandpa was that baby’s age you could mail kids through the usps.
I’d try it now but would probably end up lost. Or arrive a month late.
Oh my goodness! Every single one of these are awesome! 🥰
Words with Friends him 41 and I 22.
Been 2 years talking online. Old people really beat you in this game.
These people are precious. Making Memoirs.
Awesome grandparents. Guess I've got some VERY stiff competition.
I’m so happy to see so many relatives loving on the parents and grandparents. So many of them are so alone.
2:37 - Awwww.
4:05 - How to... deliver... a baby. Riiiiight.
5:28- So nice when older people have open minds!
5:43 - Well said, sir!
8:37 - BAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
9:38 - Sorry to hear your grandpa has cancer! He looks like he's facing it with a positive attitude.
AWH THE FIRST ONE
Yesterday, I went to the forest to pick blueberries with my mother and grandmother. Guess who was the only one that didn't forget to take their phone? Grandma.
@2:34 that will be my parents someday. My mom hates photos of herself, but my dad thinks she’s 100% stunning 100% of the time 🥹
I love this whole video so much!
This might be the cutest video I've seen all year. So wholesome and sweet and funny and it gives me all the feels!

Could I get that handsome, brave fireman to carry me…?😉🚒❤️🔥🔥
It's the colour-blind Grandpa for me...🤗 My husband is colour-blind too.❤️
These pull me in every time.
My eyes aren't wet, YOUR eyes are wet.❤ They are all precious but the 'My dad is a Disney princess' slayed me.
Oh man, I miss my dad so much 😰
The best time in my life was when my Grandpa Wilfred Manning worked at Pioneer Settlement in Swan Hill Victoria and I got to ride on Black Bess a steam traction engine that’s still there
The first one!!😂😂. I have two friends, Terry and Terry, also married, also slightly confusing😂. 100 percent adorable!
Love these!
