John: You can clean the mold and mildew off the vinyl with dawn dishwashing soap and water, use a soft large thick artists brush, rinse and then put them in dish rack to dry. I just did over 300 recently, all rock and roll, blues and soul albums. I put them in new paper inner sleeves and am selling them locally. Your booth will be a great place. I have been watching you since early 2019 and enjoy your content. I have been reselling on ebay since 2003. Retired in 2015 from my full time job and now selling more and having fun. Thanks for the help you provide to the reselling community, Ed
@edward what you suggest is really not the way to clean vinyl, sorry to say. do not use tab water, it contains minerals that will dry up inside the grooves. same goes for dishwashing soap or similar, in that case unknown ingredients that might harm the vinyl, or also leave particles inside the groove. My personal mix for cleaning with my professional records cleaning machine: 2/3 distilled water, 1/3 purest isopropanol cleaning alcohol you can find (i have a 99,9% one), and just one single drop of some cleaning soap (best is something without perfumes) to break up the natural surface density of water so it can reach the bottom of the grooves. Also, change the cleaning fluid after each record (there the pro cleaning machine comes in handy), to not contaminate a rather clean record with the dirt of the ones before... Also you should get new inner sleeves as the mold is everywhere in that collection even when the eye can't see it. Hope that helps.
record (that's where the pro machine comes in handy) to not contaminate a rather clean record with the dirt and mold of the ones before. Also, you should get new inner sleeves, as the collection looks like the mold is simply everywhere, even where the eye can't see it. Hope that helps a bit.
John, you need a record-cleaning machine and a couple gallons of record-cleaning fluid! Records like those will frequently clean up if you have the right equipment.
I totally agree, i own an OKKI NOKKI and it's sometimes stunning how shiny and clean a seemingly destroyed record can look and sound after two spins. I love my record cleaning machine.
Wow!! That was alot of stuff....you definitely put in some time for that...for sure reminded me of American Pickers, i could see Mike and Frank crawling around in there looking for treasure..lol
I look for bulk buys like this too, but would never have bought the video stuff. Not in my wheelhouse and nothing I'm interesting in selling (bulky). Shipping is getting more and more expensive.
Big catch ... this will definitely have you look more towards these types of equipment in the future...good money to be made !!! Will love to see a story line on everything you brought what was the profit
If the records are unsalvageable, there may be craft people that are interested. I've seen cool custom pads of paper - using part of album covers for the pad covers.
You can also make bowls and baskets out of the lp records. Heat and drape type process. I am sure there is info on pinterest exactly how to make them. Great retro decorations.
The reason old TVs are still valuable for gaming is that firstly, older video game consoles optimal output is at 240p which is what older TVs are basically made to display and secondly the input lag is very low. Additionally some light gun type peripherals work better on CRT than on LCD or LED. Basically older consoles work better with TVs from that time.
Ro Ur, I have a 2003 Sharp Aquos LC 20E2U and another that looks exactly like it but smaller (Sharp LC-15B2UA,) About 2 years ago I saw a "sold" on ebay for the first one for $150 which surprised me. However, they are heavy and the shipping would cost $150 alone if someone on the West Coast bought it, (I'm in NJ, so I didn't list it) I'm a senior that knows nothing about gaming. Would you be able to tell me if these two older units could be used for gaming, and perhaps that was why there was interest in them ? Thank you for any enlightenment, as I don't know exactly what to do with them or how to market them. :(
LynnVids1 Sadly I‘m not an expert when it comes to evaluating the value, but from typing them into Google it seems to me that your TVs are not CRT, but rather LCD displays. They can still be used for gaming, they just don‘t have the advantageous properties of CRT TVs. You can probably still get some value out of them, because they still have old cable outlets.
hi, ive been doing ebay and amazon for years, , when your out and about you should focus on books, mostly college reference books, , im sure you have the amazon app where you can scan them, you will be surprised as to what books bring to the table, hope this helps, Best Regards Bill
Those Heavy duty tripods are what you would see a news camera man use out in the field or something, very good tripods but prices depend on brand of course. This is my type of stuff right here i would of snapped all of that up for sure. What would you want on the JVC camera (All cables etc) /Heavy duty manfrotto tripod with camera control handle plus shipping to the UK?
You can make good money on this stuff because people like me don't want to or don't know how to test/sell electronics. I am also afraid of the higher return rate. Good luck and make lots of money!
Oh man please tell me you got some of them sony pvm/bvm monitors. Pain to ship but $200 to $1500 depending on the model. Edit: should have watched to the end haha. I see you got some monitors.... I may have to get into contact with you. This is a my kinda haul! Great stuff John
Congratulations on what is gong to be a great money maker with all if the electronic sound equipment John. I think you will do okay in the records, shame they were left in the ruins.
Don't toss the records if they are warped or beyond cleaning repair. Post them on market place as craft records. People purposefully warp them to create artwork with them.
Hey John, new to your channel but I enjoy and appreciate the videos. I was wondering about those Sony monitors. If you grabbed them I'd likely be interested in one. I live down in WV so if there's any way we could meet in between close enough let me know, and your price. Let me know somehow. Thanks! Keep it up.
Hey John. Question for you. How do you ship the sports banners that you've been selling? I recently bought a few and I am not sure the best way to go about it. Thanks for your time!
Hey John! That’s what you call a good record haul - I use record cleaning fluid and a paint pad used with care work really well- then dry using a soft cloth and polish with a lint free cloth! They’ll come up nice 🙌🙌- just check the prices before you sell them and 1st issues are what collectors want- see the matrix no’s in run out groove! A-1/B-1 usually means it’s a first pressing - UK pressings are often rather than the US ones. Have fun selling them! Hope you got the turntable too!! 👍
You paid $1,750 for stuff you know nothing about just because “it looked cool”. Rule number 1 of picking is if you don’t know anything about it, move on. You’ll never get your money back for that junk.
Al’s Collectibles, yeah 5-6 years ago before I started selling at Flea Markets that would have scared me to death, 😃. But now I have done it awhile and have learned how to turn a good profit and what sale’s. It’s almost addicting. Lol
The problem I have as a 25 year old with records is I don't know who these people are lol. I have super basic knowledge on the mainstream rock n roll, and motown. Everytime I flips through the records I don't know any of these bands lol.
I did what you do back in the 90's to early 2000's Then I started selling only online. I was wondering you pay taxes so have a license do you get items from wholesalers? Part of my growing and changing included buying more items I could get repeatedly and being able to also just run certain listings on auto repeat. Cuts down on the work on both ends it's like everything though you gotta find what items are going to give you your % and sell well.
I bought the same video equipment a few months ago definitely not worth $1750 .. you should’ve bought the tripods and records , throw all that other stuff away.
One other tip about selling vinyl in your booth: Don’t put out junk, even if it’s low-priced. Record people don’t anything that’s going to skip. What you should do is gather up the real sketchy ones, and then just bulk them out on FB Marketplace or Craigslist. I’m talking about selling 100 for $20. It’s better than tossing them, someone will take them, but you don’t want your booth to have the reputation of carrying junk. People don’t want to look through junk, and they don’t want to find a record they want, only to learn that it’s trashed and unplayable.
As you were approaching the shed I was thinking "that's how you get murdered!" Glad you weren't murdered.
Me too!
Bearded Reseller My thought as well😂
Cincinnati Picker John what size are the Sony tv’s. If they are 18” they may be more valuable than you know.

Hate to disagree but the way I clean them has been working for years for me and am still playing the same vinyl but everyone has their opinion. Ed
Edward Whiting idk 100 seems like a lot for those old records?
It was a pleasure meeting you. Glad we could do business.

When i first heard $1750 i was a bit confused. But after looking up some comps you did very well! Enjoyed the video
Before I stepped into that sketchy shed the thought that I might not come back out would have went through my head :)
Lol, that Queen's Greatest hits album was the first record I actually bought myself. 1980 or 81. Good times.
It’s amazing what’s hiding away in little sheds and barns across America.

As a former record store manager, the condition of those albums made me kinda anxious. Hate to see albums just lying around exposed to the elements.
You could probably sell the bad ones in bulk to people that turn them into wine bottle holders ex. 🙂 Thank You for all you share! We Love Ya!
Omg a shed full of pvm monitors I would love to have one of those to play my retro games.

Dang. Quicksilver, If 2, Raven (laying on the floor) right off the bat. That's a great sign that there's gonna be some killer records in there.

Ahhh I’m interested in those queen records and Elton John if you have any
