You are a true craftsman. I'm in the plumbing field and the guys I worked with would always tell when I was doimg something wrong. But never showed me how to do it right. So good on you! Thats a sign of a confident man
That sounds a lot like my experience in the Army. One of the reasons I didn’t re-up.
Thanks Idaho Painter for teaching us to be a better painters and make our living out of this. good blees you amigo!
Thank you for watching & supporting the Paint Life Community!
I appreciate all of your tips. You help the amateur out a whole lot!
Guys you are doing an awesome job here. Congratulations. I have learned a lot from them . To the point I decided to paint my house completely (3500 sqft) on my own inside and outside. It took me 5 weekends and like 10 of your videos and some taping along the way, but got it done. Not knowing a clue at the beginning, now I am very confident about painting my house. Thank you. Keep it up.
Spraying with minimal walking was a great 👍 lesson. Thanks
Thank you guys your are amazing. We appreciate the time you have taken to help better our small business.and help with new tips or more efficient ways to save time and money. We love the #idahoclan.

I really like the videos, I just ordered an electric paint sprayer today and I think I've spent 5-6 hours watching all your videos. My wife and I just bought a house and we're trying to make it our own, and of course, it needs paint inside and out. Really glad you do this for people like me, it's a big investment so I wanna get it as close to done correctly as possible. Thank you for what you do
Glad to help, hope it all turns out good, thanks for watching!
Lucas kicks some serious butt! I'd give that guy a raise...

I’ve watched almost every video you’ve made. Makes me want to become a pro painter!! About to get me some #paintlifegear
Nice instructional video. Great for learning.
This was one of the most helpful vids you have done for me!!!
I subscribed because your taking the time to teach your apprentice.
I usually have to do a quick left to right spray after the up and down because of the fingering (that what she said) lol. Or because of the grain in the doors. Thanks PAINT LIFE!
Excellent video! Thanks for the lessons! Rock on.
Glad you liked it!
Idaho painter thanks for sharing your one of the few that are willing to share and show the techniques my respect that thank you look forward to hearing from you Ken, new to your community👍🇱🇷

Thank you Charles!
Very good tips! Thank you guys
Your welcome🤙
Chris, I love spray painting ! 👍🏻
We love it too!
Absolutely Great Job! I wish you would do a video on how to tape and prep the door before spraying.
Charles Youngblood they did one or two. I agree they should have connected them
Charles Youngblood we have
Good teacher ,... thanks again brother
Thanks for watching Oscar!
Not to sound overly critical, but I was shown another way. For one, I was trained to go side to side but I will try up and down instead to save steps. The other is that I shoot the door as it is being raised so the inside if the hinges and the area behind the weather stripping is covered. Have you ever had anyone mention those areas still being white? Thanks.
Give Lucas a raise
🤩
Chris, I’ve been watching your videos for awhile and love them. I also own a painting company and have a question for you. I’m painting a CVS pharmacy and need some advice on painting the walls. It’s a level 5 smooth finish and has 14 ft tall walls. What process would you recommend I do for paint? Spray and back roll? If so what would you recommend on the process? Would love to see what you guys do on commercial level 5 smooth walls. Thanks.
you guys are awsome very helpful tips...thanks...👏
Thanks for watching & supporting the PaintLife community!

Great Job Guys.....Were Training a Sprayer now........(VPBFE)
Thanks for watching Tim!
I always put a drop cloth down on the driveway, especially if I'm training someone who has neve used an airless sprayer before.
Awesome video, can you give recommendation on what to mask and other taping prep work for garage doors? Looks like you had a good prep process

Paint Life TV thanks so much for the video recommendation! Was very helpful!
Great job Lucas!!!!!!!!!!!..
Thanks for watching Danny boy!
Hi Chris. I’m impressed how little paper, dropsheets or masking you use! How do you prevent overspray? What tip would you be using? I just bought the Contractor PC compact + FFLP 514 + LP517.
Titan 515
I was wondering if you have any videos or advise on what to do ( exterior painting ) if a home has big bushes growing right up against it?
Great video. Can I (dyi’er) use a Graco handheld to paint doors, jams, and trim or should I go with a sprayer of equal value?
Hand held is for tiny projects
Thanks!
Great video. What kinda safety belt harness do you have how to use it also for a home user would like to learn
Right on!
Rock on!
Hi ,I'm from New Zealand, what tip are you using in the garage door please?
You forgot to explain what you do with the edges of the door that is hidden. We always have to do those as well. Also, how come no drop cloth in addition to the masking paper? Great video!
We do not do anything, we don't need a drop cloth, but you are new to spraying we recommend it
Thank you
Hello Idaho Painter, The siding on my house is wood shiplap and I have huge 3/4" gaps where the ends butt together. It was wet when siding was installed and now it shrunk. Should I use the white Ready Patch, or caulking or wood filler? I want to fill in the gaps. Thank you and love the channel...
Use auto body filler. Or so other strong durable product for exteriors.
what size bucket do you use again? i like you can hang the roller up but the brush just sits at the bottom and paint gets everywhere on the brush. is there a hanger for the brushes?
John with the utility belt is something we use and is Master Painter issue.
So what happens with the rubber weatherstripping after its sprayed. Doesn't it crack with movement of the door up and down. Also the rub of the door against that weatherstripping doesn't that become a paint issue for peeling later since you created a seal after spraying. Great Vid
Great job lucus!
Thanks for watching man! Hope to have you out here with us soon!
Paint Life TV looking forward to coming out!
Very helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Chris, you seem very humble and we'll mannered, are you sure your American ?
Yes!🤙Paint life!
How do you paint the edges of the door where it bends?
Great videos, big thanks from the U.A.E. for sharing. My Q: Paint manufacturers provide their recommendations for the idea temp' for applying paint. However, from your experience, how hot is too hot for spaying outside? I cant see a video on it: do you have you any hot weather painting tips?
My question is on another topic but when spring a house with stucco how many coats to you put on ? Or do you only do one coat with the back roller?
A question, spraying paints comparing to rolling and painting with the brush, what is more paint consuming???
Spraying the door lengthwise, = "Gettin mah steps!" Gotta win the FitBit Challenge.....
lol, that's why
Do you have any Video's where you have had a really bad weathered peeling paint to deal with. As I have through years of neglect hope you understand and Thanks in advance.
Stupid question. What do you do about the small section of door behind the weather stripping on both sides?
+Paint Life TV
Was that garage door primed? I'm going to be spraying my own (steel) garage doors this weekend and, right now, the plan in my head is to prime them. Is this not necessary?
Great videos, are you still using duration on garage doors?
Did you prime the metal door first or is it fine to just topcoat it? Thanks for the great video's!
We did not prime
Just wondering Mr Chris :-) on the first one, Who cleans up the overspray using 9 or 12" paper w/no drops bro? Water? Man I can't do wire brushing for hours to make it right in training ppl here in "Los Angeles" brother lol.. Errrrrr...Time is money! Help me man..lol
When you spray it’s typically only one cost on doors?
Nice job
Push the door in a little to get behind the seal. Won't leave stretch marks
You dont have to worry about painting the edges where the door is covered by the rubber trim on the left and right of the door? Or on the creases where the door opens when it is moved up?
No, we do not
nice video.
do you always spray paint houses?
when do you use a roller for the exterior ?
thank you
We do not typically roll exteriors
ok thank you .
obviously it s much faster :)
@@Idahopainter U don't spray and backroll rough stucco fam?
Hello, can this method be used to paint an exterior wall? How about overspray?
I stripped my door to bare metal and used rustoleum red oxide primer. I am using Dunn Edwards oil base paint to top coat. Do I still use a 525 tip? Ready to spray

So why don’t you use the 515 tip for the garage too just like you use for the siding I’m curious?
Good channel brother god bless you
Is there any issues with the length of the paint hose from the machine to the sprayer? I have Graco Project Pro and just bought a 50’ hose. I was told that this was too much for the machine? This conflicts with my understanding of fluid dynamics under pressure...given a water hose it should not make any difference between a 50’ hose and a 100’ hose...please confirm.
Thanks
Do you not have to remove the door seals or do you just paint over them?
for some reason its easier for me spraying to the right if i use the right hand and to the left with the left hand.
What line of sherwinn did you use for door?? Was it flat paint for garage door ?? Are all exterior paints that you use flat ???
It was satin
when you paint the garage door do you just not worry about the edges that extend into the garage?
Not using low pressure tip? Surprised they still sell other ones. Thank you!
Two questions:
1. How do you paint the panel edges so you don't see different color stripes as the door operates. I need to paint a white door brown do the white edges will be very noticeable as the door operates.
2. Other than more walking, wouldn't the horizontal method help you to keep the gun more perpendicular to the door? It is hard to squat down enough to keep it perpendicular when spraying vertically.
LTVoyager Ya, the header they are working with is arched so you don't see the unsprayed gaps. Tou can pop off the side skirts to access those and just mask from the other side on the edges.
LTVoyager never painted them in my career
For those who feel it’s necessary, just raise the door completely, hop on a ladder and roll the edges with a 3” roller. Best to do it before you spray.
great vid chris
Thanks!
6:42...HOLIDAY!
I’ve thought about painting mine when I do my house, but I’ve wondered about the gap in the panels. You can see what I’m talking about in the end of the video. The original color is showing as the door is retracted and pivots to the horizontal. Do you have a solution for this? I’ve thought about moving the door up, stopping it and painting the gap. Let it dry and then do the next. Then paint the door as you illustrate here. Or do you always just leave it as is? If the color change is very different, you’ll really see this each time you roll the door up.
Update: I scrolled down and saw a reply to this very question. “I’ve never done that”. The color diff. would annoy me every time I drove up and watched to door roll up... I’ll have to paint mine and hope it still works.
We don't normally worry about that.
Hey Chris do you ever use a graco 3ft pole gun with a clean shot for painting exteriors
I have but after a while the added weight hurts
Paint Life TV what I've done is replace pole that comes with it to the graco extension pole far lighter works like a charm.
Hey do you guys have any ideas on a good tan color for livingroom, dining room and bathrooms. Bedrooms are gray..
Sand Beige
Great color. What is it?
The blue/green
Spraying is clearly a much faster process, so what reasons would you have to revert to traditional brush & rollers?
We always spray exteriors, and interiors it just depends on the situation
Do you worry about build up on the top of your door trim? Or does it matter?
JStar Services that’s paper
JStar Services no never a problem
You’re running 2200 psi on how many feet of hose ?
Do you spray over the rubber gasket around the garage surround?
Yes, we do
Hello, I was curious , when you are correcting Lucas on the gun angle you never really say why its "bad" to have the gun at that angle. So, Why is it bad?
Because the more downward the angle is, you're gonna get more paint on the ground.
Can I paint behind weather strip will it stick?
Super boulot
Thanks for watching!
What color did you paint this house?
Do you brush the bottom edge ?
Do you paint the door edges that are covered by the weatherstripping?
The weatherstripping has been removed and the sprayer covers the edges there the weatherstripping goes.
Paint Life TV
Thank you for getting back to me, that's a great idea to remove weather stripping! I hadnt thought of doing it that way, much easier than trying to paint the edges with the door fully open up on a ladder inside the garage
He doesn't stay parallel to the door while painting because he is leading with his right leg, right handed people need to lead with their left leg in order to position themselves to bend with the wand, He is basically trying to tip over by leading with the right leg, to maintain parallel spray and a 12" spray distance would require him to squat at the knees while spraying, Nobody's going to do that all day. I'm betting he will pick it up quickly when not on camera and more relaxed.
I am in minnesota and would like to know what paint and tip to use on a ext. deck
SuperDeck, 310
Does he get a raise now that he can spray. LoL
lol
Why do you use an extension? Doesn't it make it heavier and harder to control?
Easier on our back
What size tip did you use to spray the garage

Nice job but I would tell him to stay away 8 to 10 inches and of course like you said 50% overlap. Also do you guys paint the in betweens when lifting up the garage door ? Lucas will get better with practice. After painting for 20yrs and spraying for almost the same amount of time I just let other guys spray now, unless it's spraying cabinets and doors or anything that has to be perfect.
We dont
Guys I'm replacing kitchen cabinet doors. Going with European hinges but the old outside hinges have left an imprint on the face frames. It's light but too deep to sand out. How do I fill in each old hinge spot so it doesn't show up thru new paint? ? Thanks
Use Bondo
Bondo is tge best way to go, jst dont over do it apply two skim coats.
