    What’s amazing to me is the comments of so many on here about the price and comparing to other multi effects but fail to compare them to strymon’s when you are paying $450-$500 for one type of effect and to have delay, mod and reverb of those you have to buy three different pedals totaling
    Around $1500 with no drive or pitch effects…..
    the Eventides (like the strymons) are professional level Studio Quality effects, it’s a different animal and not something that should
    Be compared to Line 6 (as good as they are) Boss, Headrush or the like.

    I hope I can use my Mission Exp pedals that I already bought for the H9! I've used the H9 for live shows with presets all set up and just need to do minor tweaking depending on the room etc, and I am not much of fiddler with my pedal board, so the fear of using these types of pedals is gone for me! BUT, this one looks way more complex! I will fumble around with it in my home studio and record with it, as those pedals are incredibly great sounding! We're in a golden age of pedals!

    The H90 addresses the problem that made me sell off my pair of H9’s, the spillover of effects. I miss Eventides algorithms ad am seriously considering getting one of these units in the future

    • @jesuschristiscallingyou953
      @jesuschristiscallingyou953 Рік тому

      Dang. You had two. 😮
      You should get the H90 if you miss that Eventide sound. As you probably know already, it has all the H9 Max algos, plus they are enhanced due to the much peppier DSP.
      It even has the SP2016 Reverb, which I love and have owned in plugin format since...2016. 😄
      I always held off buying an H9 Max due to the limitations of the interface, plus it was just one effect at a time. Sounded great, but stacked effects yield more possibilities.
      Even my Zoom MS-CDR70, which understandanly doesn't need as much processing power due to it being basically a toy in comparison, has more than one effect at a time.
      As soon as I received the H90 announcement e-mail from Eventide and I saw the OLED screen and more than one effect, I knew I had to have it.
      It was such a long, agonizing wait in the back of my my mind, but seeing and hearing this new H90, it was worth it. I pre-ordered it on zZounds. 😀
      Sorry for being so wordy!

    First of all the positive: I like that Eventide products deliver and allow you to manipulate the guitar’s timbre in a way that has always been beyond anything else in the market. The idea of a multieffect is awesome.
    The not so good: The format still suffers from the same nonsense of the Factor pedals, you have a switch that allows you to bank down and two switches to select the presets on each bank. Who would build a $900 unit and not include a bank down switch? I understand that one could add a footswitch however at this price point the workflow should already be practical.
    Considering what else is in the market being able to run two effects at a time is quite limiting. The format and size of the unit is practical however in my opinion the product to build would be something that allows you to simultaneously run at least one effect from their general categories considering pitch shifting, modulation, delay and reverb.
    I am aware that there are some plausible redundancies considering that for example the micro pitch effect can generate modulated delays as well as chorus however this would free up the player to exploit the possibilities of the Eventide brand.
    With something like this, all that one would need for a complete board would be some drives and expression pedals.
    As someone that travels regularly small format solutions are prime nowadays.
    I still own Eventide gear and it has served me well over the years however I think this product being presented could be developed further.

      Hey, BossLenz - thanks for watching! There are tons of great digital mixers out there. To make a valid recommendation, we’d need a lot more info. I highly suggest contacting your Sweetwater Sales Engineer. They’ll be happy to discuss with you and suggest the best solution for your needs and application.
      Hope this helps,

      @@sweetwater Mitch, thanks. I've been doing my research and I've pretty much settled on the Presonus 32SC. Only to find it's $999 off! Just brought it! Now I'll wait for the H90 and see how intimate I can get with that before thinking about getting the Taylor T5F Classic! Have a great Holiday.

    It sounds pretty good, but I think I’ll stick with my TC Electronic Plethora X3, which, for 1/3 the cost, can do three distinct effects simultaneously. It may not have some of the more exotic effect options as the H90, but aside from drive pedals, it handles all of my needs just fine-and would an audience know (or really care) what’s on your board anyway?

    At 900$ the only way this is going on my board is if I sell my vox. I’m cool lol I think I’ll just try to cram a headrush onto my mod board. Cause Fr if this costs a band imma need amp sims and multiple effects at once.

      Hi, Caleb! Great question, and one often asked as of late. On paper, I believe the H90 can take the place of multiple H9s with less pedalboard real estate. I haven’t had one in hand yet so I don’t know how it’ll work in practice. That said, Eventide’s reputation is stellar and the H9 is a staple on many players' boards. The demos sound amazing.

    Sounds great but a little pricey for a box that can only do two sounds at once. Unless I am missing something here?

    • @Not.Satoshi
      @Not.Satoshi Рік тому +7

      It can do two ALGORITHMS at once. Many of the algorithms have multiple sounds built into one algorithm. For example, you can run PitchFuzz (pitch shifter and fuzz) with ModEchoVerb (modulation, delay, and reverb). So you would actually be running pitch, fuzz, modulation, delay, and reverb all at the same time.

    • @metalplatedfacejob
      @metalplatedfacejob Рік тому +8

      @@Not.Satoshi I understand but still I would rather be able to define my effects chain and flow rather then have a preset effects block. These sound really good but are underpowered for the price point, this thing should be like 400 dollars and the old H9 200 or less. They would sell three to four times as many of these if they had a more competitive price point.

    • @Not.Satoshi
      @Not.Satoshi Рік тому +4

      @@metalplatedfacejob you can define your effects chain. You can run the H90 in two places in your overall effects chain at the same time by using pre/post routing. You can then define in each algo if you want it run pre or post. You can also route the effects in each algo as parallel or series and define the order. Modechverb you can run mod>delay>reverb or mod>delay & reverb (parallel) or reverb>mod>delay. I will give you the fact that there are some limitations to the H90 but so far your complaints about the pedal, other than price point, are not accurate.

    • @metalplatedfacejob
      @metalplatedfacejob Рік тому +4

      @@Not.Satoshi my opinion about this pedal is accurate. It is overpriced for what it is. It should be able to run 4 algos at this price point. I was not referring the routing capabilities but the inability to choose what effects are in an algorithm, user definable. If you told me I could choose which reverb to go with what delay into any echo within one algo then I might be swayed. It does not appear to allow one to do this. If it does please say so, however I have not seen it explained that way in any gear review. If your happy with it then great but your feelings don't make you right and me wrong. Take care friend.

    • @Not.Satoshi
      @Not.Satoshi Рік тому +5

      @@metalplatedfacejob you make valid points about the limitations of the H90 in your recent comment. It can do multiple effects per algo, but you’re right, you cannot dive as deep into the tweaks on algos that have multiple effects as you can with dedicated effect algos. I think a lot of people try to think about the H9/H90 pedals like the HX Stomp or something similar which is a mistake. In the HX Stomp, each block is an effect, with the Eventide H9/H90, each “block” is multiple effects bundled that offers unique sounds. In the end, imo, the Eventide can do way more with two “blocks” than the Line 6 stuff can do with 10. For the record, I do not own an H90. I own an H9. I would like to be an H90 owner but at the moment, the gains I would get with an H90 over an H9 is hard to justify $900 which is not to say I think it’s over priced but only over priced for my use and benefit. In the end, I think the H90 is awesome and you think there is much better value offered by other companies. And that is cool. We can both be right with our own situations. Cheers and rock on friend!
