For whoever is wondering about how this economy works. It's quite simple, since me and Freeze couldn't use apples or anything our food ran out very quick. Also we couldn't use woodcutters or get more wood. So we made those waterpots/wells to quickly get peasants, and after we've ran out of food we placed the tax on -24 and the food -8. Then we simply bought a lot of wood to make mills,bakaries,armor workshops etc. I also made those bad things to increase the bread production. (Note: bread gets very overpowered with -25 ff, but units get a lot weaker) After our economy was done we opened our inns again and started remaking the popularity. To make this faster I even build a cathedral. And in the video you asked why we don't make use of the other resources it's because; in the expert world you can just use your own resources. Because else everyone starts crying that it's unfair that you got more etc.
Thanks for clearing this out Nightmare, but still, if you can make use of the other resources, why not? I mean is your opponent problem that he can't stop you from doing that.
If this game would've been 2v2 you wouldn't use the resources either? Just use your own resources but since this is not hosted by some clan top expert nobody cares. If this would've been in the !Yu.GoD! tournament they would've kicked you.
Well,there was no rule that you cannot use everything on the map. If they consider that a rule, they should notify it and that's fine by me. But I didn't set such a rule,so, you didn't do anything wrong.
why no weapon eco? are two iron mines not enough for spamming pipe factories? and sergiu always talks about balistas .. the rule is no ffs ^^ but great game.. its like everytime the same.. if in expertgame where both players has good eco and the first hit fails, that one with better troop controll wins.. not real tactic..
This is the meta. Smash brothers has certain characters that are used more than others. The game mechanics are probably not balanced when you realize the only way to beat your opponent is to use the same strategy. These strategies are created after countless hours of seeing what works and what doesn't.
@@Nehpets94 Well its proof that this game is inproperly balanced and designed. Just compare it to AOE2, where almost all units are used regularly and matches are exciting with numerous strategies. This game just sucks balls as it is. Needs a major patch to fix things.
i dont agree on this, this 5 min no rush is taking all the beauty away from this game, 20 min no rush is optimal, you build castle and economy and then start to produce defences/ army with everything set that's the real game
Yellow's idea of protecting the lord: Isolate on a single pillar surrounded by a moat. One might think he was actually a prisoner XD I was admittedly confused by this match, but reading some of the comments below shed a good bit of light. Great match, btw!
I always knew that this game is unbalanced (but still love it) and this "match" proved that. Stronghold was ment for human vs AI and it worked. But human vs. human is sooo uninteresting (no offense for the players, it is the problem of the game). Does anyone know how to mod it to make it actually playable in PvP? Changing of unit status may be enough.
i reckon the orange guy should have made an army of macemen and assassins. with these armies send the macemen in alone from the front with the cav archers he already had a way behind in order to bait him out of the castle and then sneak the assassins in from the back and just like that he's in a very sticky situation.

I love how these peope are considered "experts" despite them not being able to play against strategies which counters this boring way of pvp. These people are not experts. They are just good at this way of pvp (as long as no one is using counter strategies, which these experts won't allow)

its a little bit better, because the people wont go to the good things to take theire break. They will just go to the fireplace to make the break. So its a good amount of walk time reduced.

You have to destroy the stockpile and only then you can replace it whereever you want. Portable shields protect your troops against archers. They are very hard for the archers to destroy them but melee units can easily destroy them. :)
How the hell is this game a competitive game??, this is a great game for playing skirmish vs AI but the competitive game looks weird as shit.and not very fun
no sneaky attacks. no early attacks. also there`s only one rule: KILL the opponent. period. its like they are playing that 'castle builder' way. (the option in main menu to just build shit without enemies) i`am so bored now...
the peasants will make random pauses at good things. those pauses cant be prevented but they will do them at the fireplace if they cant reach the good thing they wanted to go to for the pause.

The wheat farms can produce that much wheat. :) He was building in the bottom because he got wheat faster there,and usually the Mills,Bakeries,Granary and Stockpile must be close in order to have a good bread economy.

Good game, but i just dont understand why are they making knights. Especially frezze because he had less gold... I know, you are going to say that they are for destroying shields and horse archers but you can easily defend from them with assassins or monks if you dont have much gold.
Defending your shields/horse archers with assasins/monks is dumb since they got no good defence against arrows. When Freeze decided to camp he allready lost the whole game. And if you want to counter knights without using them too, use arabian swordman and pikeman. A lot better than assasins or monks. :)
Mr NightMare Mhmm, i think no, i mean you are better player and you know better but when both players have ha then ha will automaticaly choose to shoot in opponent ha instead other troops, so you have to do that manualy, but to shoot in assasins you first have to get them out of shields, and to do that you have to do that with your kn too, so he can shoot in your kn too... Yes, they are less vulnerable to arrows, but if you attack me with kn and i fast attack and back off with sins, you will kill max 3 of them and i will kill 2 knights for sure.. And in your first attack with kn i dont have to get sins out Because i know you are bluffing xD
I was surprised, too. I think they do it to increase the number of units they can produce at once (which is usually limited to 24, because thats how many peasant gather at your fireplace). You see, the wells act as a buffer for the peasants. Each well 'stores' 3 guys and when you want to make 100 soldiers, you just suspend all the wells (with one click) and get the peasants to recruit them as soldiers. Its pretty cool that people have these ideas of how to use certain game mechanics to their advantage, but I personally don't like how it leads to a pretty ugly (because unrealistic) city/castle.
I like playing a more strategic like, at least try to get the game to be more realistic, you know building a strong defence with sufficient resources to build stronger troops. Man the towers with mangonels, cross-bows and etc. March on with like a 'campaing' styled army to attack. Stuffs like that which I have been playing for more than a decade now..lol..but yeah I guess you are right, people have become more aggressive with this game than ever. :)

SergiuHellDragoonHQ I was talking about the huts and the marketplace he build in the bottom right, which got destroyed by nightmare. I can't imagine any reason for doing that, there was no lack of space in his "castle".
He did that because Nightmare couldn't destroy those because of the peace time. He built those there because he wanted. no actual reason. :)
I hate this style of pvp. There is zero strategy to it. Just make the same thing everytime and not actual castle defenses .

Good game, but i just dont understand why are they making knights. Especially frezze because he had less gold... I know, you are going to say that they are for destroying shields and horse archers but you can easily defend from them with assassins or monks if you dont have much gold.
Freeze even wrote; Shit I shouldn't made knights vs you nm. xD
Defending your shields/horse archers with assasins/monks is dumb since they got no good defence against arrows. When Freeze decided to camp he allready lost the whole game. And if you want to counter knights without using them too, use arabian swordman and pikeman. A lot better than assasins or monks. :)
Mr NightMare Mhmm, i think no, i mean you are better player and you know better but when both players have ha then ha will automaticaly choose to shoot in opponent ha instead other troops, so you have to do that manualy, but to shoot in assasins you first have to get them out of shields, and to do that you have to do that with your kn too, so he can shoot in your kn too... Yes, they are less vulnerable to arrows, but if you attack me with kn and i fast attack and back off with sins, you will kill max 3 of them and i will kill 2 knights for sure.. And in your first attack with kn i dont have to get sins out Because i know you are bluffing xD

WHY?? Why build so many stupid Wells!!! I mean com'n..How do people play, cant you just focus on Defence and Economy during the peace time???
I was surprised, too. I think they do it to increase the number of units they can produce at once (which is usually limited to 24, because thats how many peasant gather at your fireplace). You see, the wells act as a buffer for the peasants. Each well 'stores' 3 guys and when you want to make 100 soldiers, you just suspend all the wells (with one click) and get the peasants to recruit them as soldiers.
Its pretty cool that people have these ideas of how to use certain game mechanics to their advantage, but I personally don't like how it leads to a pretty ugly (because unrealistic) city/castle.
I like playing a more strategic like, at least try to get the game to be more realistic, you know building a strong defence with sufficient resources to build stronger troops. Man the towers with mangonels, cross-bows and etc. March on with like a 'campaing' styled army to attack. Stuffs like that which I have been playing for more than a decade now..lol..but yeah I guess you are right, people have become more aggressive with this game than ever. :)
