Made the mistake of letting my little sister use my art supplies.. You are a life saver!
edit: guys this was a lie i was a dumbass and ruined the brushes myself im so sorry for lying
same but it’s my oldest sister. she ruined them all like how do you do that?
squiddle • same here!
I guess it works
thats why i give my little sis my barely useable brushes XD
Bro same except I let my beat friend use them 💀💀
y’all being rude to this man yet y’all can’t even clean ur brushes right
I- HAHAHAHAHA
Thanks for spelling out the truth! :)
yea and what about it PERIOD
I can I just paint at 4 in the morning on the verge of passing out and constantly forget to clean it. When I was in theater crew we actually cleaned the brushes thoroughly
yeah and what about it
Instead of boiling vinegar you can just microwave it for a min or 2, and I would say the best is white wine vinegar. Also I didn't have a wired brush so I used a toothbrush which worked just as fine :) Plus an alternative to baby oil is either olive oil or coconut oil, however baby oil is best.
Humza Mahmood thank you
thank you so much
Can I use vegetable oil?
Can we use the same technique for oil paint brush?
I used a fork
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! i literally had all my paint brushes dried out because they had acrylic paint on them and they were hard like a rock and now they are so soft! thank you so much really!!
Yooo, man. I am absolutely FLOORED by how this technique worked. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I was afraid that I would have to replace my entire collection of brushes because I was negligent in taking the proper care of them. Your video helped me restore all of them back to their original state as if they were brand new. 😭😭 I wish I could show you before and after pictures because the change was amazing. It worked like a charm. And the most shocking part is that I did not have vinegar or a wire brush, so I used boiling water and a toothbrush, and the result STILL came out the same. Thanks so much, man.
2:25 is when the video starts thank me later 😂
Lil .hillxry thanks girl 😘
Thanks
_Thank you later_
Thanks SO much!
Lil .hillxry u literally helped me alot when i was at 1:20 and found out in comments to see help🤣
My older brother left them out for almost an year this actully works even though I microwaved it instead
as clarification I had a brush that has been covered in acrylic paint for like at least a year and I put it in the salt vinegar and it's already moving this man is a wizard
The first hack/ tip really works. I painted with a permanent gloss and was so tired I went to sleep. When I woke up, I was sure it was done for. After soaking in boiling vinegar,I was able to pull off the dried gloss.
I've done that many times and someone recommended I throw in a roll of Saran wrap or any plastic baggie into my paint kit so wherever I'm too tired or taking a break I can wrap them in plastic and then in a container or a gallon sized bag in the refrigerator. They stay wet and are ready to be used or cleaned. I got lazy this weekend working on a dresser and now my I'm here 🤪😂
Its all one hack
I thought I was watching a James Bond movie in the beginning. 🤣🤣🤣
Feels awesome when you have exactly what you mention , thank you! Saved my brushes 😊
Thank you so so much for such wonderful technique!! I was worried about my brush, but one try later I achieved the results, and my brush became soft and almost new! I am very grateful for this video! Also, I used my comb instead of iron thing in the video. Still works.
I am always running onto an old brush that I neglected cleaning well. Thx
same, the ferrule of my brush has been rock hard for months. Hopefully this can revive it :(
edit: its been 2 months and i still havent cleaned it yet. Im lazy i know
What method did you use?

I haven't painted in 2 years! This is really helpful since I have a LOT of brushes stored.
I so am going to try this. I didn't know u can clean them this way.. my favorite brushes are saved ! Thank u
My goodness... thanks a million for this advice... I am definitely doing the above from now on. Thanks for the valuable advice!!!!
After uh, about 10+ videos I'm glad I stumbled upon this one! My daughter LOVES painting but man, she's such a slacker on making sure her brushes are thoroughly cleaned after using them and thanks to your video, I don't need to be buying more brushes. Thanks a lot!
Yes thankyou I put mine in a splash of baby oil as me and my husband are artists in Milan and Turin .
Paradise God Bless You, Your Husband , your families from both sides and your creative Art business. AMEN
I dont see how people are complaining he's saying "Brussels"
I hear Bristles.
But a different view point: mixing two words. Bristle and brushes. I can see brussles.
But yeah i definetly hear Bristles. Just not the hardest "T" in the world. I still found this video really helpful. So big thanks to the creator!
very helpful . bristles,brushes or brussles...pretty irrelevant:0)
@@thesoundofeverything8023 does it even matter?
Maybe my opinions different cus I’m from England, but it sounds like he’s saying it right.
I tried boiling vinegar alone plus dish soap and hot water and my fingers afterwards to try to get stuck on craft paint off an old brush but without much success. Glad you posted this solution. I'm sure the wire brush would work really well. Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much for sharing this tip. Now I can save my treasured brushes.👍👍👍
I use a lot of brushes for crafts and the brushes get in bad shape. This is so helpful and I will be using this cleaning method for my brushes. Thank you for sharing this
This tutorial really did work and I used a wire scrub instead of the brush although I really wish I had the wired brush because I scrubbed for like a whole hour lol otherwise great tutorial so glad I can save my brushes especially the sentimental value ones 😁🌈thank you
This video saved my favorite brushes!! Thank you!!!
This is definitely a useful tip for dio makers. Thanks for this!
No problem and thanks for watching! Yeah I used to go through a lot of brushes and I noticed not a lot of diorama builders in the community take about stuff like this.
I tried with hot water and dish soap and it worked pretty good in case you don’t feel like using vinegar
Soaked mine in Downy. Good as new!
It's really amazing... I tried my brush the result was unbelievable... Thank u so much bro
A MAZ ING Thank you, you saved my brand new Holtz brush I left filled with Liquitex Matte Medium . Thank you!
This hack works great. I just tried it and all of my brushes feel brand new.
I use to thrown away so manny brushes 😢, try to keep them live longer is so hard. Thaks youuu
Thanks so much for the video! Great idea to use the metal brush along with the vinegar. This was very interesting, educational and inspiring. New subscriber and congratulations! Blessings and be safe.
Thank you. I needed this information. How long do you leave the baby oil on the brush before rinsing?
This is just sweet knowledge bro. Thanks for sharing.
No problem thanks for watching and sharing my videos it's much appreciated!
Thank u for this info❤️ it really helps me with my paint brush problems😊

This worked so well thank you so much!!
This worked great! I found it worked best if I used the wire brush in between dipping the brush in vinegar
Thank you I really needed it and nice intro man 👍🏾.
Great advice. Used it on my hair and it worked.
Amazingly effective!! you alone have saved the earth from multiple tons of CO2 my friend! Thanks!
Perfect, need to try this today. At worst, my brushes can't be more broken, At best I'll get my old brushes back and don't need new ones
Tried this method and it worked good clean brushes 🖌️🖌️🖌️🎨
Thank u for this it’s so hard to take oil paint out of my brushes I’m gonna try this out!!
Thank you for this very useful video!
Used this technique to rejuvenate a decent Purdy paint brush that had got caked with dried paint. A few things I found (i) the vinegar really needs to be hot. Not that easy to do in the microwave as someone suggested. Sent it back into the microwave one more time and it started working. (ii) the wire brushing does MOST of the work. Seems like the vinegar just softens things up enough so you can get a wirebrush into the bristles and start working it. (Iii). My brush was pretty thick so I found it hard to get the wire brush into the center of the bristles where it needs to go to get the brush in really good and usable condition. Needed a wire brush with longer wires. But...the technique does work - so thanks.
you have different types of wired brushes. steel, brass and etc. which one did you use? thanks for sharing this useful information.
I use isopropyl alcohol. It breaks down the acrylics also no wire brush needed. Then a rinse and they are pretty good. Just looking for a good way to condition them as it does dry them oit after several cleanings.
Thanks. I am gonna try this. got a few brushes that need some refurbishment
Another good reason to not leave your brush in the vinegar is that it will start to bend the bristles at the tip. Also something i do to help train the bristles back to shape. is using a small amount of Gum Arabic, which is the binder used in water colour, to coat the brushes when they aren't in use. Only if they are in need of it. Just use a tiny amount and do what sort of what you do with hair gel. Then when I'm ready to use it I just rinse the brush in my paint water and its good to go. For reference that old green brush he had i would say would probably need to be done like 10 times or so just because of the condition its in and because it looks like a synthetic brush which take longer.
Thank you so much. I almost bought new brushes. I will do this.
Thank you so much I needed to know how to save my brushes without going for expensive solutions ❤️🙏🏾 much love from Sudan
Thanks for a great & helpful vid!
Thank you! Really worked for me!
I microwaved Apple cider vinegar for two minutes in a bowl then transferred to an old pickle jar and MY GOD it stank lmao. I dipped it a few times and loosened it against the bottom and then massaged them in coconut oil and rinsed in warm water. I’m very happy with the results. Rock hard bristles are now back to their brand new condition. There was brushes I used years ago and just never used them again and they are perfect now. Next time I’d use the white vinegar though. Idk if it’ll stink as bad as apple cider vinegar. But if it’s all you have on hand like I did it’ll do the job.
Thanks for the tip it worked like wonder a big thumbs up👍👍👍👍
I haven't properly cleaned my paint brushes in forever hope this works
This was very helpful thanks
I have a short black brush and the brush part they go every different direction and its a dry brush. And thoughts maybe?
amazing ... loved the video very helpful :)
but does it work with oil paint brushes?
thank you and waiting for a response.
I responded to an earlier question about this. I’ve had some success with Turpenoid Natural for dried oils. .
Thank you!!!🙏😫 I needed this
Thank you very much for these tips
Tnks alot but can this method be used to keep glue brush also clean? Like the cobblers glue brush?
Thankyou SOOOOOO much, took some work but superb
this is the content what i want ❤🌷thanks alot
Won't the oil prevent absorbing your acrylic paint when starting your next painting? Thank you so much for this video, I've lost quite a few brushes when I started painting!!
You can shape bristles by rubbing them on a soap bar
Hi . Can it work on Hardened paint on Roller brush ? Hope for your reply . Thanks !
Will this work on stuck oil based paints on sables? And how about nylon brushes, won't vinegar damage it?
This video really helped me out thanks a lot! :)
I have about 100 paint brushes to do.... I literally never feel like washing the brushes after I use them. Thanks for the advice
No problem, hope you can bring all your paint brushes in working order. I know what you mean I'm slowly getting out of the habit of not washing my brushes just because I know I can save myself time not going through this process every week hahaha. (Note I have had people tell me that they had synthetic brushes and the heat from the boiled vinegar warped their bristles so make sure you know what kind of bristles you have on your paint brushes.) Good luck and thanks for commenting🖒🏼
This was so helpful thank you💙
How long should we wait while soaking the brushes in vinegar???
Thank you very much for this great tip for my brush was dry and unusable
Amazing video thank you !
Awesome... worked well.thanks
I gotta admit I didn't think there was a snowballs chance in hell you were gonna save those brushes! LOL great tip Tuesday this is gonna save me some coin....these days anywhere you can save a few bucks helps a lot thanks!
Hahaha yeah that's what my wife thought when she saw me boiling the vinegar the first time. Tell me about it sometimes this hobby could hit the wallet hard but, if I can help the community save some bucks I did my job for the day hahaha.
Now THIS is great! Thanks!
I wonder if I could use the same stuff to remove the paint on some of my cloths. Using an old toothbrush to brush the fabrics. I bet it would work. I'm going to give it a try skipping the baby oil part.
Is there any difference between the distilled white vinegar and regular vinegar? I've never seen it on my country and we have no amazon
Very helpful, thank you 🥰
Great share is there any other tool I could use besides a wire brush, I don't own one
Hi can I do the same thing with brushes using house hold paint
Thanks for the instruction. Does this also work on artist oil brushes?
I have had some success with Turpenoid Natural for dried oils. .
Thank you so much!!! I got sad when I thought I messed up all my brushes.
It is nice too see that I am not the only artist who is too lazy to wash their brushes after painting
Thanks bud, you're a legend!😎
I used this method on my Nylon/Polyester Purdy brush and while it worked to soften it, the bristles immediately became wavy/misshapen. Almost as though they melted a bit. Are there certain brushes you can’t do this method with? Because I’m afraid I ruined my brush. ☹️
Is there a fix to this??...PLEASE ADVISE!!
Does this apply to gw/citadel brushes and paints?
Omg. Thank you!!! 4 years later and your video is still helping people. I was literally about to through some fairly expensive brushes I have away... I don't do dioramas so my brushes are actually for refinishing furniture and home decor. But this still worked great. Thanks!
I wish I knew how to do this before I threw away my favorite brush but what a fantastic job
Thank you sir it's very useful tips.. It work
Does this work for mod podge as well?
Worked 😍 thank you so much😇
Hi tried it,it worked thanks!
Thank you for sharing this tip! What is the last step after the oil?
How long do you leave the oil for? Do you wash it off with soapy water?
@Silvia Latinlady No problem glad to help. I personally have my brushes do a quick dip in the oil then press the excess baby oil with my fingers. Don't forget to shape the bristles and let your paint brush dry after. The baby oil is ment to soften the natural bristles if they're still stiff after a through cleaning. You usually only want to wash the baby oil out if you notice there's to much oil and your bushes are not drying properly. (Note if you have senthic bristles don't use this cleaning and softening prosses I've had people tell me that their bristles warp or melt) Thank you for your questions!
wonderful tip
Can you use the same steps with the old brushes with oil paint?
Thank u so much brother!!!!!
U r a life saver😄❤
thank you for doing this video. does it work with artificial vinegar too?
I'm not to sure to be honest but, everything I read always recommend this vinegar. I could ask my friend that paints for a living to see what he says and get back to you if you would like.
Useful stuf. Thanks!
