The spring on mine, the Star/Bergeon, doesn’t grip the spindle towards the top like yours, it loosely slides along the spindle hence it will not push the spindle up when the micrometric cap is attached. What makes the spring to grip the spindle?
On mine, there is a small groove milled around the circumference of the plunger, about half a cm from the top. That groove has a wire ring snapped into it, which the spring engages. The spring never touches either the top for the lever or the micrometer.
