This concert was done at Tanglewood in 1996. This is a Marcus Roberts arrangement where he improvises the piano parts. The orchestra is joined with a jazz band which is why the clarinet intro, played by Ted Nash, is improvised. Marcus still performs the piece and the improvisations are very different.
Gershwin meets Peterson and then some!! I still prefer the original version, but this is absolutely superb. I already sent this link to a number of other Gershwin fans.
I wonder why nobody has corrected you. The pianist is Marcus Roberts, and his style is completely different of that of Oscar Peterson (derivative of Art Tatum). Besides, Peterson (RIP) could almost have been Roberts' grandfather.
George Gershwin would give endless applause👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 BRAVO 🎷🎹🥁🎉

Incredible improvisation, the very definition of jazz.
久しぶり聴いた。やはりいいなあ。
この"Rhapsody in Blue" は一番心がウキウキします!全くブルーになりません。
THIS "Rhapsody in Blue" is the best "Rhapsody in Blue" that I've ever listened to.
Que lindo !!!!
MAGNIFIQUE
It's genuine Gershwin. Great job.
The best version ever! Thank you Marcus Roberts
Brilliant interpretation!
The best version...
クラシックに本場のジャズが入る感じ最高です
It's wonderful...
Belíssimo!!
Marcus Printup featured on trumpet!
increible ... purainspiracion
Mesmerizing....
Incrível! Isso me faz sorrir! Bravo!
처음엔 클라리넷이...참 인상적이구나 했는데, 듣다보니 피아노도...브라스도...^^;
악기들에게 최대한의 자유를 허용한... 그야말로 재즈다운 재즈, 거쉬인의 악보를 뛰어넘은 새롭고도 즐거운 연주였어요^^ 멋집니다~🎺🎺📯
Can anyone get me some more information about this concert, it's so cool. Is it an arrangement of Ozawa or someone else or are they extemporizing?
🌾🌱💛🙄
このCDが欲しいです!!
