    While the fundamentals presented are solid, the fact of a real life situation is that we're probably not going to "just stand there" in a perfect firing position like we can at a range when the paper isn't shooting back. It's absolutely important to train and understand these fundamentals, but it's also important not to take them woodenly. One of the best takeaways from a good class, like USCCA's Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, is to "get off the X", that is to incorporate some movement into your shooting. Good form is important to shooting, movement is important to not getting shot.
    Conceal and Carry on!

    In class I teach a modified version of the weaver stance. Kind of a Chapman/ weaver, a guy in class said nobody shoots from a weaver anymore. I said all of you are shooting from a version of that stance weather you know it or not.

    One of the simplest ways it was explained to me is to stand like you're going to throw a punch.

    The best stance, imo is whatever you're comfortable with and what works for you. I went to academy in 1986. That is where and how I learned. Not changing it. 😂

      Agreed. I'm no expert but I can shoot my gun using a familiar stance quite well. I was told by someone who has been in live fire shootouts as a SWAT member that the 'square' stance is favored if you are wearing a vest. I don't wear a vest when I carry so I would never do that.

    I will stick with what works for me for over forty some odd years. A Chapman Weaver type stance that mirrors my martial arts stance. Yes balance is everything and leaning forward being able to absorb recoil while presenting as small a target to the threat as possible.

    I use my own stance its the best or out of the old stances the Signorney Weaver Stance is the best!

    Honestly, if someone who's just now getting into self-defense whether it's with firearms or not videos like this actually help. I love getting information like this I love learning a technique like this. Hopefully soon enough I will be a first-time gun owner and I will be able to practice and practice and practice. Thanks for the video and tips.

    This was refreshing. I see a lot of guys on line with their heads jutted way out in front and it’s terrible posture and makes them appear obsessed.

    I’m just amazed at the comments. Thanks for providing content that may help someone. There are a lot of critical, opinionated, closed minded people in the 2A community. We will eventually experience the fate of division if its not corrected!

    If you’re in a “proper stance” you’re probably not using cover or concealment correctly. An athletic footing is going to be what you strive for.

    Stance doesn’t matter. Grip and trigger pull is everything

    • @USCCAOfficial
      @USCCAOfficial  8 місяців тому +1

      Stance is equally important. You can have the best grip and trigger press out there but if your body isn't stable, your shooting will not be as good as it can be.
