    Companies can't own plants! Plants are for everyone. Its sneaky how they cut the crowns off.
    Great video!!

  • @TropicalGardenGuy
    @TropicalGardenGuy  3 роки тому +10

    I have to apologize , the footage of cutting out the disk was lost in the cloud.
    To remove the disk, lay the pineapple on the side, using a sharp knife, cut straight down through the top inch of the pineapple. peal off any fruit flesh . Dip disk into a diluted beach -water solution. Rinse with fresh water allow to dry over night.
    The rest of the process is in the video.
    Ive used this method for all sorts of exotic pineapples. Make sure to watch the entire video as I have photos of my successes!

      This is why I was looking for this video. I think they do that so that you can’t regrow it, like TGG said. It is their special variety, after all. But I want to grow it myself!

    I'm not sure I would ever buy a pineapple without a top, however I never thought about someone trying to covet a special variety of Pineapple! I just figured it was to make shipping easier. Now you have me looking for Pineapples without tops! I like your disk method for preparing the pineapple plants. This seems to take stress off the plant so it put's all it's energy into new growth instead of saving the old leaves. Thanks for the information video!

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  2 роки тому +1

      Yes!, my biggest issue is the time that the disks should stay in the solution. I find that keeping the disk under the solution for 1 minute kills only about 50 percent of the pathogens, but too long and you get tissue damage.
      My next experiment will be with peroxide and leave in for 5 min the rinse with distilled water
