Right before EP39 aired, TV Tokyo issued an apology to the public and also said they'l investigate the incident (they read notes the Pokemon fans from Japan sent, i think some of them were from the victims), and YES. That's exactly how the rule people in Japan often see on TV "When watching TV, make sure not to sit too close to the TV and that room is lit" was born. 2. One of the scenes of the episode had Homer, throwing the Emperor of Japan (that might've been Akihito) straight into a basket of Sumo thongs. But onto the lighter side it’s nice that you are drilling making videos, Josh. :D
Homer's Phobia and Stark Raving Dad are two of my favourite episodes of all times. I didn't even know Homer's Phobia was censored in some places and my family has been very sad that Stark Raving Dad never airs anymore. Since it's probably our number one episode.
1990s - episodes using the word “gay” and reference to homosexual people makes censors nervous. 2000s - more enlightened time when homosexuality has much more widespread “acceptance”. 2020 - youtube has the word “gay” and “lesbian” on the list of words that could result in your video being demonetized if it has these words in the video title. How far we have come! ....smh
@@ericg1100 Eh it depends where you are in the world. It's illegal in a lot of countries, generally frowned upon in others. Even in countries where is "accepted" gay kids get bullied in school and thrown out of their homes just for being gay. Anyways I digress...

I don’t understand why people get upset shows like The Simpson for showing adult things I mean it a Adult Cartoon what where they expecting I mean this what annoyed me about parents upset at Deadpool and Logan movies for not being safe for kids even though there Rated R
Except Simpsons isn't an adult cartoon, it's rated TV-PG. Phantomstrider even mentioned that one of the episodes was the first one to even get up to TV-14. It's weird to see an "adult" episode of The Simpsons, because they literally never do that.
Two scenes i know have been cut, but no one ever brings up, were: 1. The episode where the family visits Itchy and Scratchy Land. A clip of the cat and mouse killing Hitler was removed in later viewings. 2. The episode where Homer forgets to pick up Bart at soccer practice. Homer buys Bart ice cream to make amends, but all Bart can see is Homer’s burning skull he is so mad. I guess it was pulled because the image was too graphic?
The Rio episode didn't portray Rio inaccurately. We came to find this out when it was reported the city spent a lot of resources sprucing Rio up leading to the Olympics in 2016.
I clicked this thinking it was an old top 10 list I might’ve missed, then I saw the video came out today and was completely confused Then I noticed this video was released early :D Anyway, great video as always
One censored episode is on a topic that fascinates me: "Homer vs the Eighteenth Amendment" It was censored in the UK (particularly in England and Northern Ireland) because there was a joke where a British fish and chip shop gets bombed during a St. Patricks Day parade and drunk Springfieldians celebrated. It's a reference to The Troubles conflict, which was mainly in Northern Ireland, but also in England and parts of the EU. Simpsons would touch upon The Troubles (or rather, Anglo-Irish tensions) again in the episode "Sex, Pies, and Idiot Scrapes" when a St. Patricks Day parade goes horribly wrong and a fight breaks out between Irish Nationalists and Northern Irish that prefer British rule over Belfast. And if Wikipedia is correct, the UK broadcasts censor the line "Where is the IRA when you need them?" from Bart. Meanwhile, both episodes were untouched by the Republic of Ireland.
I think they were right to ban "where is the IRA when you need them". That would be like seeing some americans acting stupid and saying "we need another 911 around here". I say this as a Canadian btw, not one of the nationalities involved in either "joke".
I appreciate seeing strider giving a caring message to his subscribers at the start of this video, shows he has appreciation for all of us that enjoy his videos and channel

The Simpson's had another episode where they went to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, but it probably wasn't as offensive as "Blame It on Lisa." It had to do with Homer being a Soccer coach and secretly working for the mob. It also had some moments where Marge was trying to learn Brazilian Portuguese... and later spoke in the language to negotiate with the mob and get Homer back.
I mean the micheal Jackson episode not being on here is kind of a crime. Controversy or not it should’ve been talked about based on the topic of this video.
@ThiefRikku0306 I see. I remember some radio stations refusing to air his music but didnt know Fox had done the same. The controversy against him after the allegations did seem to die out as quick as it had started. Maybe PhantomStrider hadn't heard of it and thats why its not in the video. Thats what I guess at least.
I'm from the UK and I always remember seeing Homer's Phobia aired on TV from a young age. I do remember seeing The Cartridge Family air a couple of times, but not nearly as frequently, Blame it on Lisa is aired like any other episode, I feel as though I've probably seen MoneyBart at least once, but then I don't watch the later seasons as frequently, same goes with the Treehouse of Horror episode, which probably has aired, but I wouldn't know. I can't ever remember seeing The City of New York vs Homer Simpson when I was a kid, but in recent years, they've aired it quite a few times The only episode in the list that I for sure have never seen air on British TV is Weekend and Burnsies. I've seen reruns of Season 13 several times and I would definitely have remembered seeing it, had it aired on TV. However, I do now have Disney +, so it will be funny to watch it for the first time on a family oriented subscription service lol

Same with England - making fun of ourselves is a huge part of our culture tbh... but I guess that’s what it all comes down to- culture. Good job we don’t take offence at being shown as either buck toothed cockney types, snooty gentlemen and women or the evil character 😂😂😂 Like every time I watch something American and there’s an English person? 100% know they’re gonna turn out to be the baddie 😂😂😂

Banksy’s couch gag was honestly very confronting to me as I was very unaware to a lot of sweatshop work and I was very freaked out by its dark style by none other than Banksy him/her self.
The funniest part of “BFF RIP” was that Lisa’s imaginary friend was named Rachel Cohen, which is the same one Lisa said she had in “Today I Am A Clown”.
Good to hear that you're okay, Josh! The Cape Fear episode is my favorite Simpson episode ever, Kelsey Grammer's voice acting was superb. In fact the movie inspired me to track down the original Cape Fear movie with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum...goddamn that movie was scary!
Fun fact: The episode "A Streetcar Named Marge" only aired once on BBC because the song "New Orleans" was considered too offensive due to its lyrics comparing the city to the "Sodom and Gomorrah" of the Mississippi. It was re-aired several years later but it was incredibly bad timing because the year was 2005 and Hurricane Katrina had recently happened so the song was cut from their broadcast entirely.
Personally, I believe that the episodes that discussed controversial topics shouldn't be banned as long as they have a decent message and handle their subject-matter with respect. However, I do understand why they were banned. As for the Brazilian episode, I don't interpret it as intentionally xenophobic, but I do somewhat agree with the ban.
The japanese episode was filled with whatever easy stereotypes they could come up with, but the Brazilian episode satirizes things like the crimes and the kidnapping that happens, which is a thing, but obviously the tourism people would be against it.
One of my favorite parts of the cartridge family episode was Lenny's Speech at the NRA meeting where he says with his AR-15 rifle, "are manufactured for a reason: to take out today's modern super animals like the flying squirrel, and the electric eel".
We are NOT all in this together. We are locked down in our seperate dwellings and have no idea what the future holds. Oh, I know it FEELS good to say "We're all in this together" but it's just not true
Howdy. I hope you've been coping okay during this difficult time. Please look after yourself and your mental health. Next up is worst/best Simpsons games 🙂
9:41 the seizure part is also referencing the electric soldier Porygon episode of Pokemon (where pikachu destroys a bunch of missiles , then there was a red and blue light flash giving around 600 Japanese children seizures)
13:24 That entire ToH segment is a parody of Kingsman: The Secret Service, which makes it all the more funnier with Moe protecting Bart from the bullies using a pint glass and the murdering scene being like the church scene
Love the use of Simpsons: Hit and Run music in this video. I still love that the Simpsons are able to tackle controversial aspects of society even if its not done well.
Ironically, the same theme of the Bansky couch gag was used way back in 1995 on an episode of The Critic: Child in a sweatshop: "Sir, have we made enough Simpsons merchandise yet?"

"Homerpalooza" was censored on TV due to a drugs reference. The portion that was censored involved Jimbo and Otto conversing while in a crowd at the Hullabalooza concert. Otto has a drug induced hallucination in which he thinks his shoes are talking to him. This was pulled because of the drugs reference. Jimbo: Man. That guy's guitar is talking. Otto: Hey, my shoes are talking too. [Then Otto's shoes start talking to him - this is the part that is cut]. Left Shoe: Don't worry. We won't hurt you. Right Shoe: We only want to have some fun.

I remember watching 'Weekend at Burnsies' on an Irish TV channel. Then a few months later I went to watch The Simpsons on a UK TV channel. It was on as part of a larger variety type show that plays TV shows, as well as doing their own games and stuff. It was a fun casual show that never took itself too seriously, but before playing the Simpsons' episode the host suddenly went all serious and said that they don't advocate the use of drugs. I knew then that they were going to play that 'Weekend at Burnsies' episode but I was so surprised with how serious they were taking it and with how lame they were being about it, they lost a lot of respect from me that day. But then after all that they didn't even play the episode! They must've decided not to play it at the last minute and forgot to tell the host!
Homer is a Simpsons character, Disney owns Simpsons now, homer is now a Disney character, thus, an official Disney character has killed two wives, done MANY crimes, pushed a man to kill himself in a mad daze, strangled his son and dog and has dont weed
When it comes to the gun episode, the main takeaway is that some people should NEVER own a firearm, which is what both sides of the gun control debate can agree on.
The Brazil episode was so overly played in Canada in 2003-2006 or so. I would have had no idea it was ever censored or banned because it got to the point where I was sick of seeing it every other week. Granted 4 or so channels had the Simpsons at any given time in English, & at least one French channel would play the Simpsons daily as well. So it just seemed like that episode was always on.
As a heavy weed smoker oh, I always find it funny when animations depict weed as giving you hallucinations. One Episode I recall being edited on UK TV was the episode where Apu tries to get out of an arranged marriage by pretending to be married to Marge. On BBC 2 it was unedited but when Channel 4 picked up the show they took certain bits out to fit in a commercial break and possibly due to Hindu references. One part was where Bart & Lisa were questioning Apu's mother about her bindi dot and they shortened the scene of Homer dressed up as Ganesh.

Homer’s Phobia was banned or censored due to its depiction of homosexuality...but Waylon Smithers is gay and has existed before the episode!
Thank you for the first part of the it means a lot during this difficult time as long we all play a part and try and stop this with the best medical help and scientific research then it’s possible we could all help each other as countries and as people.
How far we have come! ....smh

Except Simpsons isn't an adult cartoon, it's rated TV-PG. Phantomstrider even mentioned that one of the episodes was the first one to even get up to TV-14. It's weird to see an "adult" episode of The Simpsons, because they literally never do that.
Two scenes i know have been cut, but no one ever brings up, were:
"Pick a bar?" What the hell is "pick a bar?"

The Rio episode didn't portray Rio inaccurately. We came to find this out when it was reported the city spent a lot of resources sprucing Rio up leading to the Olympics in 2016.
I clicked this thinking it was an old top 10 list I might’ve missed, then I saw the video came out today and was completely confused
Then I noticed this video was released early :D
Anyway, great video as always
How the hell did this get a heart?!

One censored episode is on a topic that fascinates me: "Homer vs the Eighteenth Amendment"
It was censored in the UK (particularly in England and Northern Ireland) because there was a joke where a British fish and chip shop gets bombed during a St.
They didn’t censor it on Disney plus uk Barts ira joke
there called loyalists
@@jmurray1110 Don't know how I forgot that.
@@nintyfan1991 probably because there are two secs unionist and loyalist dependant on their level of violence

Controversy or not it should’ve been talked about based on the topic of this video.
it was censored?

ThiefRikku0306 If I could love a comment, I’d love this one in a split second.
I'm in the uk too

The Cape Fear episode is my favorite Simpson episode ever, Kelsey Grammer's voice acting was superb. In fact the movie inspired me to track down the original Cape Fear movie with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum...goddamn that movie was scary!
No Matter How Violent Tree House of Horror 27 Is, It will still remain one of my all-time favorites.
Yeah, i love the kingsman reference lmao
The japanese episode was filled with whatever easy stereotypes they could come up with, but the Brazilian episode satirizes things like the crimes and the kidnapping that happens, which is a thing, but obviously the tourism people would be against it.
colin3ds so you think everything on this list was completely fine?
The cartridge family was always kind of funny to me since homer used the gun to turn off the lights (by shooting them) and on a everyday use
"what would happen if I robbed the Kwik-E-Mart.."
Jump cuts to him with a mansion and Marge as a dancer

The legend is back.
One of my favorite parts of the cartridge family episode was Lenny's Speech at the NRA meeting where he says with his AR-15 rifle, "are manufactured for a reason: to take out today's modern super animals like the flying squirrel, and the electric eel".
On the first one why do I hear "Homer you're doing drunks" XD

I'm surprised Stark Raving Dad wasn't on the list considering it was pulled from all future DVD releases and Disney+
@abrahamWCE Well it wasn't about why Michael Jackson sucks, it was about the allegations of Michael Jackson touching kids. I think there's a difference.
@abrahamWCE actually it would be like if Oprah Winfrey went to court over a decade ago and won her trial and all subsequent trials proven that there was no actual wrongdoing of any kind then she died and a full decade later two known proven Liars made a documentary full of false evidence most of it taken from a book that have been published 20 years before and everybody in the media started believing it regardless of how ridiculous it was
And then The Simpsons pulled her episode off dvds and Disney +
I have no idea why but the little message at the beginning of the episode made me feel happy because it shows that phantom cares bout whether we be Oki or not and I really appreciate that. So thanks phantom 🙂
