Splitting the League of Legends ranked season in 3 splits seems a bit too much for the majority of the players. I hope Riot's going to change it back to 2 splits, or even 1.
As someone who finally decided to take the dive and start climbing, this is annoying to learn. I think the idea of splits in general is stupid. New season new ranked climb, why forcefully demote people in the middle of a season?
@@swepilol I dont think the current system is great, but before when it was just 1 season a year, it would definitely get stagnant and active players would be down a lot at times. Like I dont think seeing my hardstuck diamond teammates with 2000 games played is very good for team morale, its like being able to smell them through the monitor it brings up this sort of visceral disgust.
I personally think it is all about perspective. Some players as you stated, think it is to burdensome but others think this as a incentive to prove themselves (once again kekw) that they don't belong anymore to that previous tier and division (most players despise the ranks lower than theirs). Not to mention the fact that you have insane lp gains per win, boosting the narrative that if you are good, you will just climb. We mustn't forget the fact that this demoting system also helps dealing with people gatekeeping ranks at 0lp, inflation, and other problems. Therefore, I don't agree with your statement that we spend most of the time getting back to our rank. If you almost take a full split to get back to the same rank (assuming you didn't take breaks) than you are definitely not learning the game. It should take you up to 1 month with consistent play (2-3 games per day) to return and have the remaining 3 months (270 games) to climb past your peak. I also don't understand how you randomly link the ranking system to pro play being stacked with tournaments? They are completely different things caused by different factors. Although I don't follow a lot of tournaments and don't really get what you are trying to say, most tournaments on lolesports exist to support youngsters to become pros and gain recognition from their respective smaller regions. Your comment is like saying football is over stacked with leagues because you can't follow all of them. Open to arguments, be reasonable.
I get your point, but keep in mind that most players don't have time to play league as much as you stated (2-3 games per day), and for those players, 3 split format is too much. Splitting the ranked season in 3 just makes the gaming experience for those players a burden. Now I get that there are other players that can play league for hours everyday, this argument, obviously, doesn't apply to them as they are not affected by it. I was linking the ranking system to pro play (LEC) because they are both using a 3 split format (unlike the past year), I wanted to reinforce my argument that there is too much league and players can't keep up with it, making the experience of a day-to-day player overwhelming. And I think that having so many tournaments in a year is also affecting the pro play scene, making it less special.
@@swepilol Most players don't have time? I hardly believe that. Never seen anyone with less that 3 games in a single day unless they went 0/20. Maybe not everyday consistently, but there were enough games played to climb past their previous split rank. Even when I was in a temp full time job (just an example), had time to play 2 games, piano, read novels, and msg people all in the same day. Most likely you are arguing for a minority of the population in league, and I don't know how little the time you are using as reference because if its that little, then they shouldn't expect to outperform the people that put in the time in this competitive game. The overall ranks level gets better everyday because majority keep putting tons of hours and you have to join the norm or be smarter to keep up in this competitive environment.
@@swepilol I've actually peaked with the new system while playing less. I played like 200 games last split total and less than 100 this split and I've peaked my highest LP.
the ACTUAL reason there are 3 splits its because we are going to have 3 internationals next year to match them riot will thing that the usual casual player will watch worlds/msi and they will be like "wooow faker so good i want to become like faker" so they will just go to play ranked which will be the time they will soft rank reset
real league of legends doesnt start until like d3-d2 anyways. If you cant make it there based off attitude mechanics and slight macro knowledge then you are doing something wrong. Yes there is a lot of smurfs in emerald etc. but I work 9 hours a day 5 days a week and I can still climb from unranked to diamond in less than 70 games
Sure you get demoted a tier but usually the LP gains are huge at the start and you can get back up to your rank pretty fast with a good winrate so I think it's fine.
@@swepilol i had to play 50 games with 50% winrate to get back to the starting point... i mean its okay you get there fairly quick but overall i think 2 splits were better

That's an interesting way to look at it, but for the average player I think it's still annoying to have more than 2 splits per season
