Hi Jason, like v much your posts. Any further thoughts on the Hybrid ? Looking for kitefoil wave fun in light winds. On surfboard my usual tubekite size is 9-11m so looking at the 9,5m Hybrid.
If the wind comes from the sea, that is, starboard and the lines when picking them up, they will always go to the left, for the aforementioned reasons, you should walk, leaving the lines to port so that they go as leeward; thus, they would not hook with your feet. I also believe that it does not offer, in my opinion, any advantage to be hooked to the chicken loop, because the possibility of having the lines between the legs, increases the risk of suffering an accident. Health and good luck Aloha
Normally I would not still be hooked in and if you watch my self landing instruction video on foils I make that clear. The only reason I stayed hooked in was because I was just closing the butthole that came open and I wanted to see how the Hybrid reacted compared to the Peak5 when it was sloppily launched with messy lines.
The wind is quite low and you have a very small surface! Why do you keep your chicken and safety line connected, with the risk to make a mess under your feet?😮
Because I was only landing it to close the butthole that opened during riding. Also I wanted to see how easy it was relaunching that way since I never have any problems with the Peak doing that.
@@iwanvds1991 I would say about 10kts. Took it out today in some super light winds and really doesn't have that powerful of a loop so that's imo is whats hurting the bottom end of the range.
@@ysiegel5544 I really haven't flown similar sized Hybrid and Soul so I don't really know but my gut feeling is you can get a stronger loop out of the Soul so it would have the better low wind range.
This was 12kts gusting to 14. Yea I'll try to record my next session when the weather finally allows. It would be the same though for the most part. Id keep the lines as low to the grow as possible while reeling in to help prevent the kite from spinning.
Excellent video

7.5 good size for foiling in light wind? Below 12 knts?
It should be, whats your weight and equipment? I think today I should get some sub 12kts foiling in and will report back
80kgs and a Sabfoil 679. Normal I ride with a 10m strutless.

thanks for the video, how would you compare low wind range with Soul size wise? Thks

this is very light wind... can you do the same with 15Kn?
