    In regards to image quality, especially sharpness and resolving power, I feel as confident shooting at 1.2 on the WR as I did at f4 with the old version.

    I'm using this lens on my XT5 and I love it. The best lens I've bought so far by miles. I also have the 33mm f1.4 and the 18mm f1.4. which are both great lenses. But the 56mm f1.2 has a certain kind of magic about it.

    • @LucaPetraliaPhotography
      @LucaPetraliaPhotography  Рік тому

      I guess the magic is probably due to the longer focal length, which helps blurring the background. They are all great lenses, that's a
      Fact

    11:08 Fujifilm has incorporated 8 elements with the lens focus group that move when focusing. Thus they have managed to minimise aberration fluctuation from infinity to MOD, by moving the aperture together with the lens focus group.
    To move the focus group, a DC motor is used for autofocus. They have incorporated three bearing mechanisms with the DC motor for smoother autofocus performance. The bearing mechanics ensure highly accurate control of the DC motor.
    It's a technical masterpiece. -Fujifilm

    I just got this lens and it’s incredible. I’m a headshot and portrait shooter and the 56 is my go to lens on my XT3. This new 56 is an amazing upgrade to an already great lens. I just ordered an XT5 and I can’t wait to try it on that camera. Fujis new lenses are really good. I also got the 33mm which is really really nice also.

      Donovan, can you talk about the 33mm. I am a portrait photographer. I photograph families (small-2 members and large-up 25 members), kids, headshots, bridal portraits, etc. My go to lens for families is the 35 1.4. How does the 33 1.4 compare?

      @@anthonytriana4209 the 35mm 1.4 is a FANTASTIC lens. Probably one of the coolest lenses Fuji ever made. I loved it. Optically it’s amazing, and the images that lens resolves are unmatched. But the 33 comes VERY close in terms of “magic” with slightly better bokeh due to more aperture blades. And the focus speed and accuracy is FAR faster than the 35. It’s also noticeably sharper and focuses much closer, and it’s silent to focus. No hunting. BAM, nails focus. For faster moving subjects like kids I’d go with the 33. I have shot fast moving subjects with the 35 but the keepers on the 33 are way more. Hope that helps! Oh, and it’s slightly closer at 33 to an actual “50” FOV, vs the 35 which is more Ike a 53mm. Not a big difference but ever so slightly wider than the 35, which I love. Also, it’s weather sealed.

      The 110 is one of the fest G mount lenses - not comparable. But if you would look at the results in a small screen I doubt that non-photographers would note the difference - maybe in certain situations slightly side by side side as contrast may be higher with the 110 and the DoF is slightly less (1.6 vs 1.8 ish on full frame) but really the 80 will look more different due to angle of view, DoF depending on distance and will also have more color fringing to correct 😂

    Whether I pick up the 50 f1 or 56mm f1.2 will come down to Af Performance…speed, accuracy, and actual hit rate. Not sure I would want to deal with the CA of the 50mm but it would be worth it if it hit focus consistently! Does your gut think lens is better than the other in that respect? I’m only interested in stills.

    • @LucaPetraliaPhotography
      @LucaPetraliaPhotography  2 роки тому +1

      Based on the reviews I've seen on the 50mm, I'd say the 56 focuses faster. However those tests were done with the X-t4, while mine are done with the xh2/xh2s. This can make a big difference.
      In general, having the wider aperture and moving more glass, the I'd be surprised if the 50mm did better than the 56

    Hi Luca! I have just received the new XF56mm F1.2 R WR and it seems to me that it has an issue: I use it on X-E4 and it is very noisy and focus hunting constantly regardless of settings. When I press play to review photos it also makes a weird noise (as the focus inside moves) - is it the same with your copy? I have previously used XF56mm F1.2 R and I don't remember it having this focus noise. Could you advise me whether this is normal and what is your experience with the new lens? Is it possible I have a bad copy? Thanks in advance!

    The 56mm f1.2 gives you the look of an 85mm f1.8 on full frame. So technically speaking, you can get the same look for considerably cheaper on full frame.
    Take for example the Z 85mm f1.8 S lens on the Nikon Z system. That lens not only gives you the same look, but it also seems to perform better optically wide open.

      The debate on equivalence can go on and on forever. This is still a 1.2 lens, and when you are in low light you have 1 stop advantage there.

      You can get cheaper alternatives on FF, but Fujifilm lenses generally are somewhere around or slightly below things like GM/L glass.
      The 85mm f1.8 Z is likely not their "pro" line since there's rumours of a f1.2 version coming out. Another strong advantage of the Fuji 56 WR is the minimum focus distance. Almost all full frame 85mm lenses have MFD of 85cm or more, making the Fujifilm 56 WR far more versatile.
      As for ISO, it's hard to compare since every brand has different ISO scales. E.g. Sony A7iv is brighter by 2/3 stops vs Fujifilm XH2S, so Sony ISO 1600 = Fuji 2500. Not sure about the recent Z bodies. In that sense, it's likely Sony has even better ISO sensitivity and potentially more than 1 stop advantage.
      FF can push higher ISO, but generally it matches due to equivalency. I was using the A7R4 and 35mm GM, shooting indoors in a cafe. In order to get the food in focus I was at f/5.6 or even f/8, and ISO 6400. On the Fuji I would be simply around f/4 around ISO 3200 or less due to the better IBIS. The noise looks rather similar after downsampling the 61MP to 26MP.
