It hurts my heart when they say that Jem was in the way. I love Jem and Tessa together. Jem is literally the sweetest. Dont get me wrong I LOVE Will too but Jem is my favorite. And im so happy that they both have their chance with Tessa
I'm sorry but its just my opinion that jem was a bit selfish to propose Tessa while he knew he was gonna die and Will was always so selfless he made a point to be so harsh to everyon that was against his very own nature only to protect everyone in his surrounding while he himself crumbles into pieces at what he do to people
@@amermaid8248 how are you gonna call a man that is DYING selfish for putting himself first knowing that he only had a few weeks/months to live?? why would you deny him of finally being happy even though he won't be able to experience that happiness for more than a few months? jesus
Fun fact: I have read the Internal devices first, before I started with the mortal instruments. I think its actually better to start reading Cassandra Clares books in that order. But that is my opinion. My best friend who read the books, in the publication order, recommend this order for me. I absolutely loved the series! ❤😁
In my opinion, The Infernal Devices were written so beautifully compared to the Mortal Instruments. The Mortal Instruments dragged on and took forever to get to certain points. I was in love with Jace until I met Will. He’s definitely the better Herondale.
Okay, I need to circle back to the holy water scene, because now only is that romance as heck but also, I really need this while vampire biting habit to carry to the next generation. Like, if The Lost Hours doesn't have at least one scene where Will has to lecture one of his children about why they should stop biting vampires an opportunity will have been missed. Like... Will as a dad, just... His entire parenting style is going to be pretending to be stern about things they should not do, while really being secretly impressed. And maybe a touch of groveling to all the people that had to deal with all his teenage ridiculousness. I'm just in love with the idea if Will being confronted with teenage versions of himself.
Hannah I want to know your thoughts about Thomas and Will. Will says to Tessa that he was pretty close to Thomas before jem arrived and then he totally forgot about him. And when Will comes back to the institute form the dark sisters house and he finds Thomas lying on the ground... And Thomas says to Will that " I know u came for her". So this somehow makes me feel a little confused because Jem didn't knew that Will loves Tessa but Thomas knew it.
My favourite scene is also the attic one... And I was also waiting for that scene to come. And one more thing.. I realised that I was having a smile on my face throughout this video.
I totally agree with Mortmain being a forgettble villain. Like I feel like he wasnt that good. Literally every time they see Mortmain im like ok so just stab him already in tired of him. He just doesn't really strike fear in my heart like Sebastian did. Like anytime Sebastian showed up I was like RUN EVERYONE RUN GO HIDE IF YOU CANT SEE HIM HE CANT SEE YOU!! But honestly tho Mortmain couldve been better
Growing up as a chronically ill person I’ve always been team Jem. I also love his personality and how calming and sweet he is. That’s the kind of guy I want.
I'm Team JEM. And I always was from the start because when I started the books I didn't know who the character were because I hadn't started the Mortal Instruments so I had this FRESH review of Jem and I just saw Will how I saw Jace at first when I soon read The Mortal Instruments. He was really annoying and we didn't know why in the first book. Of course we get to know why later on but I would have loved more Jem and Tessa. You kinda knew Tessa was gonna end up with Will but the EPILOGUE with Jem and Tessa in Clockwork Princess BROKE MY HEART!!!! I was like YAAAASSSS.
I'm gonna go ahead and just say if it wasn't for you all I wouldn't have even picked up this book ( even though it's been on my TBR forever). I LOVED IT SO MUCH. I gave it five stars, and i'm super picky about when I'm rating books. Literally all I want to do know is read the next book.
Hey Hannah! Much thanks to you, Zoe and Hailey for recommending Clockwork Angel for the May read. I actually went back to reading City of Ashes in order to catch up and now I've finished the series AND The Infernal Devices. The books were AMAZING. I love historical fiction, the characters of this series were everything. I was listening to a beautiful violin soundtrack which amplified the experience too. I've also bought Six of Crows and A Darker Shade of Magic, hoping to read those in two weeks after my exams are over. Xx
my thoughts re: the love triangle this re-read has really cemented my feelngs. i feel like will and tessa have more in common - books, etc. - as well as that sort of passion and tension...whereas jem (especially in Angel) is just a nicer dude generally lol, and i felt tessa needed that more than someone being an arsehole. although... while when will was first introduced i started thinking "there's no way in hell i'm gonna equally ship her with jem like i did last time"... and then he's introduced, playing his violin in the middle of the night, his silver hair bathed in moonlight... yeah, i was wrong lmfao
I read these books for the first time a couple years ago when I was 18 or 19. I was surprised how much I enjoyed them, because I really didn't like City of Bones and I was somewhat over angst and romance by that stage. Got to say though, it was a solid read. I was a bit annoyed by something that happened at the end of the last book, but I was so hooked on the whole series overall, and I don't know why. Maybe the characters? Anyway, I think credit should go to you, Hannah, for being a big part of the reason I picked it up. Maybe I should do a reread too :)
Ayshin Jafari it’s funny you say that because I finished CP2 today and Gabriel became one of my fav character in the book and really the whole trilogy. When reading it the first time I was apathetic towards Gabriel but re-reading it this time I have so much deeper appreciation for Gabriel as well as Gideon, but Gabriel owns me honestly.
Ayshin Jafari YES THANKYOU he is so much more human in a way and easy relate to because he does make mistakes and has been misjudged in his life whereas other characters (like will) are just perfect and I feel like all the herondales are less flawed but the lightwoods ( mainly gabriel) are more interesting because of their flaws!
I feel like reading TID before TMI is a bad idea, because TMI gives a really good introduction to the world, and the world building is really detailed and you get to know all the basics. In TID, you just get into stuff directly without much of an explanation you know?? I would recommend reading TMI, then TID, then re read TMI so you get the TID references in the TMI books(after city of glass).
Tiff Targaryen it definitely is. Her writing is really basic and juvenile. I really wanted to get into at least TMI or TID but I just can’t get past the writing.
So late to watching this but I just want to say that I think part of why Jessamine is easier to understand as we get older is because she wants stability in her life and the chance to just live the way she wants to, and that's relatable for a lot of us in the millennial generation. Also Mortmain basically just has Batman's motivation: his parents are dead and he's not handling the trauma from their murder well. Also also; anyone else feel like Henry is on the Autistic Spectrum?
i feel like i read tmi only because of valetim and how interested i was in his story but with tid i don't need a remarkable vilain anymore cause now the characters who i simply love are enough
Hi Hannah, I know this hasn't got to do with the video really but I just wanted to say, how are you? Is everything okay, please update us on your happiness and health because its so important and you don't have to put on a facade for the camera or anything, take breaks if you need to, and I might have said this for nothing but I still wanted to check in with you. Love you 💜
Catherine Smith yes! It is so complex, the characters are so different and there is SO MUCH diversity that is almost never seen in popular YA fantasy. The ‘morally grey’ conversation is so interesting and so much better than the other series’ and I could go on about these books for so long!
I will agree with you that DA was super good. highly enjoyed Lady Midnight. Not so much QoAaD. I loved the morally gray questions and the diversity (Ty is a precious cinnamon roll who needs to be protected) but I just didn’t like the conclusion. Annabel was set up to be the main villain in LM and I loved her and would’ve loved to explore more of her character but instead she dies not even in a main way. Like it’s pretty much. Annabel was lying in the ground with a knife through her gut. I feel like Cassie Clare put too much into the books. It should’ve been a 6 book series with Annabel as the main baddie in the first 3 books, the Unseelie Court in the last 3 and kind of have the Clave in the antagonist arc for the whole series. It just felt like she was going in too many directions.
Ellie Grace I don’t know, I feel like the plot was only part of it. It was also very character driven and the huge amount of books in this series really gave each character and relationship time to develop. I must say though the ending was a little odd, but it seems you’re talking more about the ending of lord of shadows, which was a lot. The ending of the series overall (especially that epilogue!!!!) I thought was quite good, maybe other than the whole ‘their family and friends turned them good again’ when Emma and Juliet were turned into giants(which was already done in TDI...) I think my favourite part was the characters though, so I didn’t mind
“Will is Jace done right” THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
Shakattack yeeesssss
Will and demon smallpox gets me every time hahaha
It hurts my heart when they say that Jem was in the way. I love Jem and Tessa together. Jem is literally the sweetest. Dont get me wrong I LOVE Will too but Jem is my favorite. And im so happy that they both have their chance with Tessa
I agree. I love both Jem and Will with Tessa ❤
I would say that if I had to choose I would go for will. But at the same time the fact that jem is looked down upon breaks my heart every time.

Yeah like come on Jem is the nicest character ever written. Idk how people hate him.

William is the BEST Herondale, even though Cecily and Kit are amazing, Will is just... *puts hand over heart*
Cussundria Kneal YESSSSSSS!!!

I really love the infernal devices and no series can ever replace it for me
My favourite scene is also the attic one... And I was also waiting for that scene to come. And one more thing.. I realised that I was having a smile on my face throughout this video.
I’m with you Hannah, I LOVE this trilogy (and would still adore it if I read it for the first time today)

I am especially in agreement of your character sketch of Jessamine Lovelace! I found her interesting and realistic.
Well, I'm late as hell. But I wanted to ask, Hannah, would you do a video discussing your Chain of Gold theories? I'd love to hear them!
I'm pure HeronGrayStairs shipper 💪
