Im finally free from farming artifacts! Sure would be unfortunate for them to release artifacts custom made for a new polearm unit in the future. Oh, and I didn't mention this in the video because I honestly think it is kinda unhealthy to compare your builds to the rest of the playerbase, but if you wanted a numbers comparison, my Hu Tao build shown this video with an EM timepiece is top 1% on akasha.cv in a Furina/Yelan team (akasha does not currently have mono pyro Hu Tao rankings so no metric for the HP timepiece variation). Top 1% is kinda insane for any character, but especially Hu Tao to be honest, because a TON of players around the world have hyperinvested in Hu Tao much longer than I have, so I didn't expect top 1% lol. Anyhow, comparing builds in Akasha is fun but as a reminder don't use it (or my build) as metric for what your build should look like in game. The fact of the matter is that the majority of the stats your characters need to deal damage does not just come from artifacts. Just put the best stuff you have available on your units, and if the character's performance isn't good enough for you, then there is your motivation for higher investment into a character (be it through artifacts or what-not). Sorry for being preachy, I just don't want people to have unrealistic expectations based on my builds I show in videos or talk about. Polearms Only is a weird case where it makes more sense to hyper invest because thats kinda the only thing to do to improve the account when it takes a year and a half for them to release a new five star polearm...
the fact that it takes a whole YEAR just to perfect ONE character 😭 like energy systems stop me from burning myself out by grinding out a game for hours in one sitting but also it means stuff takes forever lol
Sorry for the wall of text, TL;DR is that hyperinvesting makes more sense on polearms only and my doing so on this account isnt meant to tell anyone to do the same on a normal account. There was no real need to hyperinvest this much. I probably shouldve mentioned that in the video, my bad. But on Polearms Only after Ive gotten all the polearm units in the game, what is there to do BUT hyperinvest? I’ve got nothing to farm for other than continuing to farm for existing characters, until they release new units at least. And apparently I only get a new polearm five star once every year and a half lol. Ultimately, most units can get to a functional state for most players with a relatively minimal amount of farming. Thats a very vague statement intentionally because it can obviously vary wildly depending on a particular players general account state (with existing artifacts and characters they have). Though Hoyo does there best to make players make mistakes in choosing what artifacts to farm by releasing artifact sets with bonuses meant for one character. (Hoyo doesnt want you to farm resin efficient artifact sets because it means you may end up playing the game less) In my case on my main account I will be able to get Arlecchino and not farm a single artifact for her, because I already have enough artifacts and characters to use with her to make her functional without farming the new artifact set at all. But on Polearms Only when I have nothing to do but farm those minor improvements over time its a no brainer for me (and these minor improvements make more of a relative difference by nature of being limited to only polearm units). Many an abyss cycle has been cleared on this account with the timer ending right on 7:00, so pursuing a method to make that 1s faster genuinely can make sense, but it is not something that I was trying to imply should be abstracted to the average player.
@@escapetherace1943 it depends on how much you like the character. For most of my character I'm ok with decent stuff, for my favorite characters, eg hu tao, I want the best. Currently doing around 160k charged attacks in my best team, it's so hard trying to get better artifacts so I'm trying to just save for cons to support my hu tao now. I want at least 200k charged attacks
i was gonna whine about my half-assed hutao does 50% more damage, but then i noticed this is polearms only. damn impressive considering she gets almost no help from anyone
I was inspired by you to make my own Polearms Only account about a year ago and I use this exact team! very big fan of this series, I instantly clicked when i was it on my recommended
Raiden has a relatively heavy EM build in this video as she is the one triggering Overload most of the time. Hu Tao doesnt trigger overload so you dont want to spec her into overloads very much. Its possible on a normal account to do something with Fischl that may make OL Hu Tao worthwhile to spec a bit of EM into, but even then its still probably better to ignore in favor of having the electro unit trigger it instead and just focus crit on Tao
Thats a team that Ive tried before and it doesnt really work, for a few reasons that arent super obvious. So uh, this is gonna be a wall of text to explain lol. The first one is pretty simple for anyone that understands what the community calls “gauge theory.” For anyone reading that doesnt, all you need to know for Tao/Shenhe/Rosaria is that if you want to trigger melt with your pyro unit (as in getting big dmg from Tao), you need twice as more cryo application compared to the hydro application youd need to trigger vaporize consistently. The long and short is that Hu Tao wont be melting most of her attacks in that team, instead she will be applying pyro to enable the cryo units to trigger melt instead, most notably Rosaria. So you still get mono pyro Hu Tao damage but Tao is also enabling Melt for Rosas dmg. Rosaria melt can be very strong, but then comes the second problem with Tao/Shenhe/Rosaria. The second issue is much less obvious without knowing more specifics about Shenhes and Rosarias kits, which is most notably that BOTH Shenhe and Rosaria really want to use multiple skills per rotation. And Hu Tao is an on fielder that wants to stay on field for long enough that you dont have the flexibility or timings right to be able to use their skills multiple times. This has a couple of consequences, the most obvious one being that when both of the cryo units that want to use multiple skills per rotation now only use one both of their energy needs go up, by quite a lot. My 200% ER build with She he isnt even enough, and requires an ER timepiece. And Rosaria would also require an ER timepiece, or switching to the Catch. So both builds need to be tweaked from only needing ER substats to now needing more, and it basically requires tweaking builds a ton to the point of sacrificing a meaningful amount of damage. To the point of basically making me have to switch Rosaria from a melt dmg maximized build to a emblem build. The second factor other than ER is that Shenhes buff has a limit on how many instances of cryo dmg will be buffed per character hitting an enemy. It has a limit of 7 instances per tap skill. So if there are even two enemies being hit, you can run out of the buff very quickly with Rosaria to the point that in AoE situations Shenhe is doing very little if she cant refresh her buff by using her skill again. Rosaria can use her skill once, hit 2 enemies with both of her skill hits (her skill is a multi hit attack), which would use 4/7 instances of the buff up, and then Rosarias burst would only get a buff for the first hit. Then Shenhe isnt doing anything to buff Rosas burst at that point, and since Rosas energy needs go up enough to the point of it making more sense to use Emblem (the burst dmg buffing set) on her with Tao, but Shenhes buff runs out before most of Rosas burst dmg is dealt, and not getting a big cryo dmg buff for most of the burst dmg when Rosa is built for burst dmg entirely is kinda rough lol. So yeah, overall there are a lot of compounding factors that end up making it a LOT worse to do Tao/Rosa/Shenhe. Worse than what, you may ask? The XL variation I briefly mentioned/showed this video. XL being an off field pyro enables Rosaria melt to not have ANY of these problems I described above (well the buff running out on Shenhe is still an issue in heavy AoE situations but using multiple skills per rotation and having more atk on shenhe with an atk timepiece instead of ER is literally more than twice the buff value from Shenhe). XL allows easy swapping between Rosa/Shenhe to use multiple skills, and even allows field time to use ZL burst, extra NAs to trigger Fav on Shenhe/ZL if need be, and XL obviously does meaningful dmg of her own. XLs own ER needs are quite high in the team of course, but she is already energy hungry and doesnt require meaningfully changing her standard build since its still emblem with a bunch of ER regardless(I actually never change her built on polearms only). And on a normal account you would just use Benny instead of ZL and the team is notably stronger too (Benny reduces XL er needs and Rosa can snapshot Bennetts burst buff) With all that said, I am optimistic Arlecchino WILL work for that melt team, because her infusion mechanic doesnt have a duration forcing her to stay on field. She can be swapped out and swapped back in, meaning she can allow Rosa/Shenhe to use their skills multiple times.
Damage similar to mine but just a bit lower but I’ve been building my entire account around vape hu Tao and have been building her for probably 2 ish years
I have a R5 Missive Windspear and a R1 Dragon's Bane, which should I use for my Hu Tao? I also am thinking about buying the battle pass for the Deathmatch.
Hmm. Not 100% sure between those two, I imagine theyd be relatively close but Dbane likely would still be better. Deathmatch may also be worthwhile just by nature of making her crit stats much easier to balance, but it would depend on the artifacts you have available (eg if youve got a 70 crit rate build without a crit weapon already it may something you dont notice as much)
This is why I hate this game, lol. Spending a YEAR to perfect a single character. It seems like that is the real game- just getting and leveling characters and weapons. People who like Genshin probably just like getting and leveling things.
Hah that is actually the exact reason why I enjoyed genshin. Collecting characters and building them up. The game feels somewhat fresh again with a new character but sadly there's nothing for those character to do once I built them up
If you can keep uptime on the crit stacks, then yes. Eg with the Furina/Yelan/Jean team or Chev C6 like I did this video. But if you already have a hyperinvested build for her in Shimes or Crimson on a normal account? It’s probably not worth refarming. In this video I showed how Shimenawas got me higher CA dmg than the MH build (but with less crit rate and not allowing consistent bursting, so Shimes is still worse). My Shime build is good enough that I could easily have not bothered farming MH for her and I wouldn’t be in a state where it made a huge difference to how I could use the character. One common struggle many people can have with Tao is getting a healthy amount of crit rate on her though, so I do also think MH is a way to get good dmg out of Hu Tao with less investment into substats, which is nice too. But again relies on characters like Chev C6/Furina. You could use other healers to enable the set, but the difference maker to really make it worthwhile on Tao is the fact that they give enough dmg bonus to make not having Tao be under 50% HP worthwhile.
In general? One of my favorite units they've released in some time. Even at C0. With Hu Tao for a normal account I dont think she makes all that much sense unless she is C6, but it is an interesting new playstyle option for her at least
