She was rewarded as a Korean of the year not simply because she is an artist. It is because she is a Korean traditional folk singer. Her unique vocal vibe comes from that. Folk singers are trainted to generate good volume as there were no microphones in the ancient times and she can definitely sing in the mountain.

For decades, she sang in a strict, traditional Korean folk style, and she said she always wondering why it had to be that way. Now, she has finally broken free from the critics and strict Korean folk music community, singing in her own style for the first time. You can feel that freedom in her voice, her dream finally coming true. Even if you don’t understand the language, the message seems to to be clear. I think that's why you feel this something, word can't describe it but you feel it.

송소희양은 어렸을때부터 전통민요의 영재로 불리었는데
한국의 영재들은 잠깐 반짝이던 별로 금새 빛을 잃어버리는 일들이 많았습니다
자신만의 길을 찾아 계속 빛날 수 있게 되어서 다행이네요
