Gahhh I am trying to keep the response short, but its really hard cause a lot of it needs explanation
So, he really likes to take some futuristic optimistic idea and present it as if its going to solve all the problems and that he can do it in a short amount of time, but then he pushes the deadline over and over and over, (in my opinion he does it on purpose to manipulate people into getting excited about it and investing more into it) and then when the idea is finally being worked on, it isnt even remotely close to what he was promising.
Examples of this are:
- Las Vegas Underground loop: Was promised to take care of traffic with elevators that take your car underground. Turns out its super dangerous, has lots of failure points, doesnt even solve the traffic problem, overall is just a worse subway, and is SUPER dangerous. The loop built now is pathetic, and is literally just cars driving in a narrow tunnel, and HAS HAD TRAFFIC JAMS. He also has a contract with the drivers to talk about how amazing elon is and lie about the project.
- Hyperloop: I'll keep this shorter. It was a vaccum tunnel to try to make transportation faster, but turns out its also super dangerous, and super infeasible too! I think the project is abandoned now.
- Solar City: I dont remember the details of this one super well. But there is hard evidence that he was lying to people during the presentation of it. He claimed all the buildings around him had working solar panels (he was advertising a new kind of solar panel shingle) and yet, none of them did. The project eventually ended up failing and he shifted around money between companies from one of his government funded projects to bail him out of the SolarCity situation. :D yay! Taxpayer money being spent on his scams.
- Tesla Semi: Here is a recent one! This deadline got pushed back over and over, and was advertised to have all these exciting features... but actually, it was just recently released, and it didnt have most of the features he was wanting. Including AI driving. The cargo size it can hold wasnt talked about, but it looks like its pathetic.
- Starlink: This idea hasnt failed yet, and might seem to be one of the more promising ones, but if you do the math, there is no way he is going to make enough money off of his services to be able to sustain it. And worse yet, this idea is super dangerous! Just google what "Kessler Syndrome" is, and consider the fact that Elon has more than doubled the number of satellites in the atmosphere, and its at the same altitude as the ISS! Oh and also, the satellites have been causing problems for observatories taking pictures of space.
- Tesla AI driving: I actually love the concept of AI driving, because I think once its working properly, itll save a lot of lives. But Elon Musk is trying to market off of it, not actually trying to make it safe enough. There was even emails uncovered about him lying to consumers about the new tesla models having level 4 AI driving (it was his whole marketing point) when actually it was still gonna have level 2 AI driving the entire time. Oh and, this is another one of those things where he was making all sorts of bogus claims to try to promote it, such as; all cars on the road were going to be AI driving in the next 2 years! But then, several years later... yeaahhh. (Side note: I also really really hate how he is trying to monopolize electric cars by having only his chargers everywhere.)
He has also been lying to try to maintain a public image of him being a genius (no evidence of that) that created his wealth from scratch (his father was rich, elon inhereted his fathers wealth) and he was the founder/co-founder of PayPal and Tesla (neither are true)
Tesla also has an INSANE track record of OSHA violations, and he tries to cover some of them up. Its the most dangerous car manufacturer to work for.
Sorry that this is so long, I didnt even go over everything I wanted to. This is a bit of a mini-obsession of mine haha. Ive been following stuff Elon does for a while now. Just be careful of what he says, and pay more attention to what he does. Cause this whole thing about him being for the freedom of speech is yet another thing he wants you to believe but his actions say the exact opposite, and it blows my mind that people dont see through that.

The reason other CEOs won't do what Elon is doing is that they cling to their money with their souls. They have to please investors and the system at all cost, lest they get hit pieces like this one.
Yes. Most CEOs don't have a ton of skin in the game and control a massive block of the stock. In Elon/Tesla's case it also helps that other holders of large blocks of Tesla stock also see how vital Elon is to the companies and their growth. No way he could ever be removed from operational control of Tesla. Nonetheless; Elon is one dedicated, brave, and wicked smart fellow who is in this for all of humanity and clearly not the money. One of the greatest humanitarians of all time.

The amount of cheap-shots in this "Report" is unbelievable. Cites Business Insider (Trading) hit piece accusation backed by no evidence, has a stacked panel of critics with one guy who is mildly positive. All B-roll of Elon is him acing goofy, none of him doing what he does 90% of time which is leading and engineering, none of the serious interviews he has done. Cites the most critical sources for reviews of Tesla... unreal.

I was a substantial Tesla investor because I believed in Musk's vision...I believed in Musk. I lost more than half my investment before finally moving on. He blew off Tesla when we needed him the most, despite Tesla's board approving the largest CEO pay package in history to keep him focused. No, this CBS News video isn't a hit piece.
The "cons" of this "pros and cons" report, in the context of who Elon is, what he does, and what it means to humanity, are worth almost nothing. To have a person usher in so many aspects of revolution to humanity, within a commercial context, and yet obviously care deeply for the people themselves, is practially unique in history.
Well done Elon! The focus on the commenrcial "lunacy" of the Twiiter deal covered here, is the great balancing aspect of Elon's commercial endeavours, that make the man.

I'm not the biggest fan of Musk, owing mainly to his ideological perspective and way of conducting himself, but I do have to respect his work ethic and sheer, unbridled genius. He has done more for the advancement of society than many governments and definitely more than any other person in history. He's simply something different.

I would be very careful. The guy lies and misleads and makes false promises a lot.
He uses peoples hope for the future to promise ridiculous ideas (ones that don't end up working cause they're not well thought out) and because people see him as a "genius" or "the savior of humanity", he ends up getting a lot of investors and support, and I think he knows he has that power and abuses it.
He still has some benefit to humanity through SpaceX (although part of that credit goes to the engineers at SpaceX) so he isn't all bad. But just like ANYONE else, you should always exercise some skepticism and avoid just blindly trusting people.

He's done nothing but make empty promises he never delivers on, remember those solar roof panels? The tunnel boring machine? the fully self driving cars? the semi trucks? the driverless tesla taxi's that will bring more than 100% ROI to it's owners? the hyperloop tunnel that just ended up being a 1 lane tesla taxi tunnel with no emergency exits?
He literally bought a company for more than 3x what it's worth & has only destroyed it's value in the short time he's had it. And proceeded to insult & antagonize the very "lefties" that buy his electric cars.

Solar roof installations are happening, they’ve already started delivering semi’s, and the boring company is already drilling at 3x the industry average and will be at 5x when their next gen machines roll out in 2024. There’s a difference between being late and failing to deliver. This isn’t like Theranos trying to accomplish things that are physically impossible. The science is sound and it’s just a matter of engineering and building things out

There was like 2 no name media workers (aka zero credit), 2 authors who wrote a book about elon (who knows if they even had 1 on 1 with elon, aka zero credit), 1 random marketing professor which maybe is studying elons "style" (probably because its just unique), and 1 random who i could not find a title for (old guy with northface jacket, aka zero credit).
The only critic i would trust is that Spacex founding member, who DOES have that 1 on 1 with elon,
maybe a little from that 1 engineering student as well.
