I was working in a bakery in the UK, one day a new employee from Poland, Edek, arrived, he was fresh, he literally went to work from the plane. Our manager, having a cigarette, asked him the usual "All right?" with a southwest accent. And Edek, as he knew the language, started: first about his ex-wife, that she "wh..e", then that the children are bad because they ignore him, then he talked about high blood sugar and back pain, Polish politics, Germans and Jews, Russians. I finished the break earlier because I had started earlier, but when I was going to the fridge I heard him talking about how his mother had been expropriated from the apartment during Bierut's time. If he had more time, he would probably complain about World War II. Napoleon or maybe Grumwald. After everything, Andy, the manager, comes almost in tears and asks us "why did he do this to me?" Edek didn't learn anything that day, but Andy will probably never ask a Pole "All right?" again.
Przecież to w Żabce nawet widac ..❤❤😂
Polish people are not superficial. So when Mr. Edek was asked a question he answered it. Mr. Edek still has to learn English culture & learn that not everything is genuine as it seems.
I'm from Iceland and I have a Polish wife. It's funny that the largest immigrant group in Iceland are Poles and they come here mostly for economic reasons. And now we are considering moving to Poland because Iceland has become almost unlivable because it's so expensive! But there are also other reasons we prefer Poland, mostly cultural and family reasons.
@kurrwa I can give you an example of groceries I bought yesterday at the cheapest grocery store. Here is the list: 1 litre of Milk, 500 gr. Butter, 1 small tomato, 1 head of iceberg lettuce, 1 spice mix (to put on fries or potatoes), 1 roll on deodorant, 1 shampoo bottle, 2 tubes of toothpaste, 1 bottle of mouthwash. This cost 4800 ISK, which is 140 Polish Słoty. My salary does not cover my mortgage and basic bills like utilities and insurance. I get paid about 410k ISK after tax from working two jobs with every other weekend. My mortgage payments alone without other bills are 335k ISK per month.
It's not funny. It's called socialism. Iceland has become socialist, and it costs the individual big money to make life good for the greater populace. Poland was very socialist; first Communists, then Lech Walesa, who was a union head. Socialism kills profit, kills industry, kills excellence. It wants to bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator, and cry out that 'all are equal'. Now Poland is reaching out to Google, Facebook, etc to get in on the capitalist train, and life is turning around. They suddenly have the money to fix the infrastructure, and make things beautiful again. But don't despair. Iceland and Poland both have drinking culture, so you can drown in your beer and cry the blues about how unfair life is. Knock yourself out. People from the beginning of time have migrated due to economic downturns and upturns. People need to stay put and fix the problem they're facing. The reason bureaucracy is bad, is a leftover of Communism. They need to trim the fat of useless positions that were created due to nepotism and 'job creation'. If they removed the people who are employed there but don't actually do anything, they'd streamline the process. But that will never happen. Do private industry create jobs just to have a family member work there? No. It affects the bottom line. Each job needs to be there for a purpose, not for decoration. Iceland is going down a dangerous road of multiculturalism, and Poland is following this way as well. Hold on to your identity. Have internationality, but enjoy them in their own country. If I go to Poland, I don't want to have to speak Arabic or Spanish. I don't want to eat cous cous. I want Kielbasa and Perogies. That's what I associate with Poland. When I go to Iceland, I don't want to see Dutch culture, or American culture. Yet I see all European countries eagerly adopting different cultures to appear non racist. What could be more racist than eschewing your own culture. That's self hatred. I'd say, Iceland, stay Icelandic. Poland, stay Polish.
I am a Finn, who lived in Poland for several years even having learned that wonderful, beautiful language I fell in love with at first hearing, but who kinda like had to return to Finland last Oct., e.g due to the death of my dad, but now, finally, in about 5 weeks I can return there. Thanks to my new job.Last time I lived in Warsaw, but from Apr. onwards in Cracow.Kocham Cię Polsko.Besides I myself am often very impatient and melancholic too xD
I love that you mentioned safety on your list! I lived in Poland and now I live in the US and I can tell the difference when it comes to safety. Poland is a very safe country with good morals. I definitely miss the education system there as well.
People often mistake realism for pessimism. I think Poles are more of the former than the latter. As for the melancholy, the longer we live in peace and prosperity, there will be less of it, I guess.
Even though I have lived in the States for a long time, and yes, I am from Poland, I have been told by many Americans, that I am very negative. However, I don’t feel that I am negative and I wind up explaining to people that I’m realistic. Being realistic is not the same as being pessimistic of course. And yes, realism is looking at things the way they are instead of masking them with this absolutely insane and artificial optimism that I find in the US. For this reason, I feel that we Poles are just saying the truth, and not hiding it behind smiles and happy euphemisms. As for the bureaucracy in the US, I can really tell you absolutely horrible instances of having to deal with that. I think bureaucracy is pretty much bad everywhere. And yes, I will be returning to Poland within the year for good.

I really appreciate your honesty. It's very valuable for me to be able to hear a person talk with respect about our flaws. It's a big chance for us to be able to notice and change certain things.
I can't stop admiring your lucidity. W punkt! If it comes about the negatives, it is very similar in France, where I'm living. But people here are in love with France:))).
JT really good short video. I have been trying to get my wife to be less pessimistic for what will be 22 years of marriage next week; 17 of those in the US where we in the South are not as pessimistic. With the bureaucracy our frustration as well. I put in for my temporary residence in 2020 and because of pandemic took over two years to get my card. Than after two years in Poland I apply for permanent status only to be told it is two years from when I got my card. Was not my fault they took so long to issue a card. Nearly four years here and while I can understand a lot I read most things in the store, restaurants, etc. still hard to speak. :( I love the Polish history and blessed to live in the area where Poland began. My town kindergarten kids walk to school by themselves. Reminds me of when I was a kid in the states but you cannot do today. I belong to a military veteran group for overseas and recently someone that is looking for a government job in Europe wanted recommendation. I am partial to Poland so recommended it and they said Poland was racist. They got that opinion from a soldier that most likely was in an area where troops are not always on the best behavior and as you noted Polish can call it like it is. They want to live in Germany. Oddly Germany is one of the most racist countries in Europe while Poland is the least. If you are not here experiencing the culture than someone with a negative opinion can turn others away; sadly. For becoming more Westerner I thing only a few good things and more negative. Younger Poles health is not as good as it was 20 years ago; more obesity and in some cities the loss of Polish identity. In the rural area like where I live most are not quick to embrace the change because of the history. We are a Powiat of farmers and what goes on in Warsaw that is influenced by the EU really affects them. Last thought as a Southern. Instead of saying bless her say bless her heart. ;)
Hi! I am Polish and I have been living abroad for over ten years now, in France, Morocco and Portugal. I am a bit of an outsider/insider and I have seen so many changes in these years. Each time coming back, I can see the life becoming more comfortable, more easy and advanced. Lately at last, I have observed a ridiculous rise of prices (which can cause lots of difficulties but on the other hand finally services cost what they are worth since ages). About our personality... Well, my boyfriend is Portuguese and I don't count how many times he aldready asked me "are you angry at me?" and I stare with deepest confusion on my face... I still didn't figure out what makes him think I am angry. He says it is the face. I should be walking with the mirror or something. The truth is I am seldomly angry in reality, but he interprets some of my faces as such

Hola! My wife and I may have a chance to move to Poland for work. Your channel is very helpful so I just pushed the subscribe button. Keep the content flowing and who knows? Quizas algun dia nos conocemos en persona.
After first 3.. Better to start packing After second batch.. I’ve luck this time 😂 But seriously, I heard that for new comers, foreigners is hard at start, especially with language, sorry not sorry 😂 at some point you need to learn local language. Bureaucracy, I’m 30ish years old, trust me, year by year it’s improving a loot. Mentality of people, it’s also improving, you mentioned this note, people are carrying of each other with that kind of messages. 30 years ago, you couldn’t see something like this, not because lack of printers, but lack of care. Safety, actual last fight with anyone I’d in school times, 20 years ago 😂 Of course these’re some crime, but in lowest rates in world. Police is not working? I wouldn’t agree with this. On olx/Polish eBay, I tried to sell phone, and got scammed, but after 6 month I got back my phone back 😂 I lived for 25 years in Poland, then move for few in UK, and move back to Poland, no regrets. Best place for me to live ❤
As a Pole i must admit that we are rough nation sometimes I hate it sometimes i love For example in other countries people would ask how are ypu doing how is it going ? Are they really interested oh how you are doing or whtats happenig in your life ? Of course not usual answer is thanks everything its ok so why ask ? Just to say something but in fact say nothing Thats my Polish thinking :) Every country has its ways

I have been living in UK 6 years now. I have to say diversity of this country opened my mind a lot. I am lucky to live in Bath which is fairly calm (I have never been scared to walk on my own late) but the most important peopke don't seem to have tendency (like a lot of polish people) to make conments or criticise the way someone look or dress up. I remember I was shocked seeing first tine someone in the bathrobe getting milk from shop nextdoor. Now I am happy that I don't pay attention to that anymore. Free country, it doesn't hurt me why do we bother so much as polish people what other people do or how they are dressed? It is probably because due to culture, language and religion we have been very homogenic for many many years. But this part of Poland I don't miss at all. I like culture diversity and that we can learn from each other here. My partner is from Tenerfie and we still wonder if we gonna stay here or not, as housing market here is not great and humide weather doesn't seem to work well with my health issues but still we have to think where we gonna try to find our place.
My wife was born in Poland. We live in Upstate New York. I watched a video you made titled "THIS IS THE RICHEST TOWN IN POLAND - Polska Beverly Hills??". What would you recommend a real estate's website for me to search for that area? I prefer a website the locals use.
You can find Polish people all over the world. Poles are up for the challenge & no work is too hard for them. Example: Tadeusz Kosciuszko was Polish military engineer & leader that fought for America's independence.
Polish people are not superficial. When Mr. Edek (Polish guy working in UK) was asked a question he answered it. Mr. Edek still has to learn English culture & learn that not every question is genuine.

9:25 In fact, the attempt to like enslave another nation led to the collapse of the First Polish Republic. We are talking about the uprising of the Cossacks, which quickly led to the subsequent Swedish Deluge and ultimately the partitions... So you re right about how interesting Polish history is :D
Cossack is not the nation, they had they own eilte very often dated to the Ruriks times, Commonwealths richest and most influential clans often came from nowadays Ukraine, Belarus or Lithuania. Life of peasants in whole Europe wasn't easy, Poland was not special in that matter ...
Beurocracy in Poland is easy and pleasant until its not. You can get a lot of things done in a very quickly manner, but at the same other things are absurdly overcomplicated. Sometimes things a really well organized, other times even the administrative workers dont know what to do or how to proceed and you end up with bad information and you start ping-ponging between departments and officials. But to be fair to the Polish administration the by far worst experience that I ever had dealing with administrative task was and is in Germany. Those guys are stuck in the last century.

I have watched your video to the end and your general tone may sound friendly. But I doubt: Is it really so? To be honest, I find your comment as paternising. Very much so, indeed. You are describing your new country as we were some breed of hard-to-find monkeys to be described in a XIXth century journey book. And here are my questions to you: 1.Which country grew the second most in the last 30 years in the world economy (right after China): Poland or the UK? 2.Which country is safer by their national police statistics: PL/UK? 3.Which country has better economic prospects in the next 5 years? The prognosis is that PL is to overcome the UK in the coming 6 years. I have many English, Scottish and Irish friends. I don't enjoy someone's has it worse. I wish them all well. The UK has taught the World a lot. The UK has been our ALLY in our darkest hour. And I say a BIG thank you! Yet, my friend, if you decided to stay in PL- Express your gratitude, the way to the (unfortunately) crumbling UK is always open.
We have retained many such behaviors from the times of communism. Back then, there was nothing in stores and you had to rush everywhere to buy something. A remnant of difficult times
Shocking information about Poland's economic development: "World Bank data for the years 1989-2023 indicate that in 2023, Poland overtook Russia for the first time in history in terms of the value of exports of goods and services, reaching $ 469.01 billion, while Russia's exports amounted to $ 466.6 billion" ✌ Source of information: press article published on the Internet on October 11, 2024 by Robert Kędzierski entitled "Polska wyprzedza Rosję w eksporcie towarów i usług. Pierwszy raz w historii". It is also worth adding that Eurostat reported that in January 2024, average unemployment in the European Union was 6.0%, while in Poland it was only 2.9% 👏 In addition, inflation in Poland is systematically falling and is estimated to be only 3.5% in 2024 👍 while wages in Poland are systematically increasing and in the first quarter of 2024 they increased by 14.9% 😍 and in the second quarter of 2024, for the first time in history, wages in Poland were higher than wages in the Czech Republic 💪

I am a USA born Polish/Lithuanian,, people say I am negative too... i have all the polish traits,, I think People are like different dog breeds with different abilities/attributes/characteristics,, etc.. I find my honesty and willingness not to do the wrong things causes problems for me,, these other peoples willingness to lie/deceive/steal etc,,, puts me at a disadvantage,, most of the good relationships ive had were with other Polish people,, Poland never participated in slavery or organized crime etc... I am not racist but i find the germans to be very aggressive,, the jews lie alot and try to enslave people,,, blacks are less intelligent and criminal, ,When i live in Poland I fit in perfect, having a lot of friends, in Usa I have good relations with other Poles.. these other people I dont understand,, It seems these non polish people fleeing to Poland will cause housing inflation, and ,inflation in general.. They will bring all there bad attributes with them, and open the door to other people with bad characteristics,, I am afraid they will turn Poland into the place they are fleeing from.

So nice to watch your video ❤ I am Polish girl living half/half in Poland🇵🇱 and Colombia 🇨🇴 and I agree with all points from your video 😉
I really appreciate your honesty. It's very valuable for me to be able to hear a person talk with respect about our flaws. It's a big chance for us to be able to notice and change certain things.

But seriously, I heard that for new comers, foreigners is hard at start, especially with language, sorry not sorry 😂 at some point you need to learn local language.
Safety, actual last fight with anyone I’d in school times, 20 years ago 😂
Of course these’re some crime, but in lowest rates in world. Police is not working? I wouldn’t agree with this. On olx/Polish eBay, I tried to sell phone, and got scammed, but after 6 month I got back my phone back 😂

We are on the second place of the list for the countries you must visit right after France. Krakow/Paryz

Ci, którzy mało w życiu robią, mało doświadczają problemu biurokracji, a ci, którzy robią dużo, nie mają czasu żeby jeszcze walczyć o debiurokratyzację. Tak to widzę.
Zestresowani są, stąd ten pesymizm.

Nie pisz głupot.
it depends: if you're rich it's okay, otherwise it's not - as elsewhere 🙂
Beurocracy in Poland is easy and pleasant until its not. You can get a lot of things done in a very quickly manner, but at the same other things are absurdly overcomplicated. Sometimes things a really well organized, other times even the administrative workers dont know what to do or how to proceed and you end up with bad information and you start ping-ponging between departments and officials.
But to be fair to the Polish administration the by far worst experience that I ever had dealing with administrative task was and is in Germany. Those guys are stuck in the last century.
germany you right bureaucracy is terrifying and digitalization is 20 years behind Poland
