Thanks for sharing this. I understand how it works but I’m trying to get my head around why I would use them or I should say how they would be used in an actual project. Any chance you might do a video showing a project using these functions. Love the clear and concise instructions. ❤

Yes, new tools are always so exciting! You can switch to Beta mode under settings to receive the update faster :)
Wow that’s wonderful!!! I hated only being able to slice two objects so this is super exciting! And sometimes wanting to undo a weld on a design later on. Game changer!!!

Yes, depending on the type of designing you do in Design Space versus uploading and using a pre-designed file for your projects these tools may or may not be of use to you, but it is so great to know we have more options now! :)

It's about time Cricut caught up with other software programs. We could already perform these edits in Inkscape and Illustrator. This will be a big help!

For once, I'm actually excited about a Cricut update :D. These tools are nearly identical to Illustrator's Pathfinder tools :).

This is great, but still not sure what some layers show like a small, I think diamond shape after layer name. I took all day to find your great information from your video in cricut design space help. I was really upset at first about the new look, very confusing to a newbee after using old layer system for years. The functions do allow me to do more of what I was trying to do in some of my projects prior to this updated version.
Hi Ruth, I understand! Change can be upsetting, but I think once you get use to the new tools you'll love the additional options :)
Thank you for your responce. I found out some of my problems were connected to server issues at Cricut. Finally got a person who was like you, concerned and helpful. They took over by zoom link. Made several changes due to recent updates and finally up and running. Several questions were answered as well. Thank you again for your video and follow up
Thanks heaps Abbi 🙂 I love the new options! Do you think they will ever make it so you can export designs you create, so we don't have to design svg's in another program to sell ? Would absolutely love this !!! Fingers crossed 🤞 every other program you can export but not Design space which is a big pain 😏
That would be great! All the signs say they are working toward making it a more robust design software, so you never know!

In Design Space, go click the 3 lines at the top left > Settings > Beta and the new functions will be available to you. :)
so merging is deleting the sliced out extra part. right? thx
Essential yes, merging keeps the end result but removes the layers that created the result.
hey Abby thanks so much for the video... I'm still struggling with subtract/exclude. I've got a script font and replaced specific letters of a different font which has caused overlapping. I have selected exclude and notice its 'whited' out the sections that are overlapped into another letter.. but when I go to cut out it still overlaps. which I'm glad I have some scrap vinyl to practice ...I'm running short on it as well as patience. when I try subtract of course I get the NOTICE alert up top. Please help this confused newby!

I do not see these changes. I have an Explore air 2,and access membership. Is there a delay on the upgrades?
It may take a bit of time to filter out to everyone. You can try switching to Beta under settings to receive it faster :)
I can not get the group or ungroup to work. How does that work now?
You can find the group/ ungroup option on the top of the layers panel on the left.
Will these new tools only work in the Maker 3?
I have a regular Maker and the tools show up for me.
It works will all current Cricut machines. :)
Hi so merge is really the weld tool if you can't undo it I think it's confusing n jthey just added these fancy words to it don't fix what anit broke it was fine the way it was update print n cut n add a Xtra eraser in our tools that's it thank u for video
