  • Today I am talking about the Wham Bam Bed System's Flexible Build System for the Ultimaker 2/2+ and the Ultimaker S5. (Also know as the Wham Bam Flexible build system)
    Wham Bam made some changes, so that the magnet and spring steel (with pre-applied PEX surface) already have the cut outs to accommodate the Ultimaker bed clips! Now you can simply attach the kit to the glass bed!

    Just ordered for my Ultimaker 2+. Excited to get a proper flex plate for it.

    You could have printed some shims the same thickness as the glass to place beneath the springs, I did the same thing for my Ender 3's to keep the springs working well

      Contact them. I’ve asked them about a few unique materials and they’ve had some great tips!

      Did you figure this out? Thinking of getting one for my S5.
      Did you have to mess with the thumb screws on the bed for the s5 or did the auto mesh bed level just account for the magnet and pex sheet automagically?

      @@deepsreddy I have this on 6 UMS5's at work, no issues. Auto leveling has worked fine for me!

      Recently purchased the system as well but did not use it yet. Really don't want this to happen.
      did you end up manual leveling the whole thing?

    I have Wham Bams on my 2 Ender 3 machines but was shocked when I looked for some for my 2 Ender 5 Plus models, they are $140 each! and my Pro 3D V-King 400 has an even larger build area so I didnt even look for one for that machine!

      I paid a lot for my Chiron and my CR-10S5 beds too. But I need something reliable to hold down those huge prints

      @@WhereNerdyisCool I use mirror tiles on my large format machines as they have to be perfectly flat or the reflection gets warped, on mid to large size prints with plenty of surface area I dont need any adhesives but for small parts I use purple glue stick just as an insurance of the part coming loose

    • @WhereNerdyisCool
      @WhereNerdyisCool  2 роки тому +1

      @@AndrewAHayes I experimented with mirrors as a base and it wasn’t much different than glass. I’m more in the camp of a level build plate along the lines of a super flat thick aluminum plate. We machines some 1 inch thick ones at work for our Modix 120X. The engineers also created the mount holes and elongated them to take into account expansion on X and Y due to the heating

    Does it matter what side of the glass you install the magnet on?

      I don’t think so.

      @@WhereNerdyisCool yeah that’s what I thought too. I have an old build plate that has a nick or two I thought I would use the non damaged side of it. Thanks for the reply.
