The triangular patch on Kane's bum is the U.S. Tricentennial patch (celebrating the United States's 300th anniversary on 2076). It's featured prominently on Brett's jacket, for example, but it's placement on Kane's figure was an mistake on Neca's part. Kane's a Brit and I'm 99% sure he should have the Union Jack triangular patch, which is for the 3 World Empire. Google image search "Ron Cobb alien patch concept art" - Cobb pretty much detailed Earth's history during ALIEN's timeframe, where N. America and S. America form a new nation, the United Americas, and I think Japan and the U.K. make up the 3 World Empire, or something. Anyhow, awesome review per usual!
marachuker Very interesting. One of the things I have always loved about the Alien franchise is how detailed it is and how much history is there. Details like that always elevate a fictional world and make it much more believable.
Nice piece! John Mollo designed the costumes. He designed ones for Star Wars and ESB also. Tom Skerritt's kid(s) were in the suits too. I have the 18" Kenner Alien. Kenner made prototypes of 3-3/4" figures. That would've been sweet to have a Nostromo playset.
No I just looked it up Looks nice and authentic! Hard to walk around with a facehugger on your facemask lol But very cool. I wanted to dress like Brett one Halloween with Nostromo trucker hat and Hawaiin shirt ;
: ) It's from the Kenner action figure Card back I adjusted it a bit in Photoshop to make it clearer but it's a classic. I also have it on a 70's Mead notebook cover.
I'm a bit late to the party but the mention at 7:23, regarding Prometheus' sleeker space suits, could actually be explained quite easily. The Nostramo is a commercial hauler, making the crew something akin to space truckers, and would realistically only ever need their space suits in cases where they have to perform a emergency spacewalk and are therefore of a cheaper model. The bulkier nature can be attributed to primarily being meant for use in outer space where they need to withstand the vacuum and large temperature differences while being heavier since they are not as restricted by weight. In Prometheus, however, they are on a scientific expedition founded and accompanied by the CEO of Weyland Corp. meaning that they have the budget for anything they could possibly have need for. Their suits are the most advanced suits available for use in atmospheric environments. They're designed to be lightweight for ease of mobility, slim as to not restrict movements, and are made with comfort as well as long-term durability in mind for the use by colonists and researchers who can be expected to use the suits daily as opposed to the suits of the Nostramo who are meant for rare situations. Heavily doubt this was Sir Ridley Scott's intention, but it does fit as an in-universe explanation. For anyone interested, here's some facts from NASA about their suits: www.nasa.gov/pdf/379066main_Spacesuits_Pressurized_Protection.pdf
TheRider2345 Eventually. I'm hoping to be able to get a PS4 soon and play the game so I actually know what I'm talking about with the figure. I hate being clueless when I review something, it's just that in this case reviewing a $15 figure requires a $450 purchase.
I was always confused by how the face hugger got through the helmet in such a small hole. And by the way it looks like the glass melted without burning Kanes face?
+WIGROB1 neca did some weird thing where the space suit figures have necks attached to their heads and the non-suited figures have the neck attached to the body. I guess you could modify it though. And yes, it does come off
i always think that the prometheus mission has better/more modern tech because it´s a prestige mission to present and impress the investors. besides let´s not forget that wayland is on board, too. if i was him i wouldn´t cut budget on stuff that most likely secure my survival. the nostromo? they are just stupid space truckers nobody cares about. give them economy class space suits and an artifical intelligence that runs on dos, that will do!
Hurt would've agreed to using his likeness for the right price. I have the War Doctor figure that looks just like him. If Neca wants to be cheap and fart out figures without likenesses then I'm not buying them.
Give Neca some credit. They secured Sigourney Weaver's likeness for upcoming Ellen Ripley figures, and that was a notoriously difficult task. Plus, it's not like they've shyed from paying for actor likeness in the past...look at figures based on Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rob Patrick, Bill Paxton, Michael Beihn, and more recently, Tom Skerritt or Lance Henriksen. No offense to Hurt, but maybe he asks for a lot; Hot Toy's wasn't able to use his likeness for their Kane figure either. Maybe Neca will get Kane's proper face in the future.
Ut00bsux0rz It may be something as simple as signing away his likeness rights for Doctor Who was part of signing the contract to be on the show, while that was not common practice back in the 70's.
Yes it is. If some dinky little toy company i've never heard of can get Hurt's likeness, then so can Neca. They're just cutting corners. www.entertainmentearth.com/images/AUTOIMAGES/UT05227lg.jpg
FROM HELLFIRE AND BRIMESTONE, BAH GAWD THATS GOTTA BE KANE!!!

Good review. I'm assuming that egg at the end is not included?
justmenesto2 Yeah, the egg is from a McFarlane Alien display base.
Ahhh did you see those paint chips fly off @ 6:16 ?
They should've made his helmet come apart in 2 halves, a left and a right side, on Kane's figure like how they cut his helmet off.
Great review many thanks
Nice review!!! Keep up the good work!!! Any plans to review Mcfarlanes Arno Dorian figure?

Well thanks for the reply!!! I'll be waiting for this review with upmost excitement!! Keep up the good work!
Cool figure

Box,do you think it would be cool if the facehugger is removable?Cos litterely that would be awsome!
could get the license for the likeness so no wont happen
Wait, what happened to his snoopy cap? (The hood they wear with the helmet)
Is Kane's head removable? Interested in making a marine with this head, any idea if it would fit?

WIGROB1 a
Figure looks great but the only disappointment is, that mine has 3 stiff joints. Probably because the paint came in :(
Is there a Kane without the suit and face hugger
nope
Great Review! (and a hilarious intro XD )
my names kane :( rip me

And an interchangeable head
Also if they didn't they should have a peg hole in the chest to fit in an chestburster

You don't know how signing away the right's for anything can be a lot more complex than that do you?
im actually disgusted ny how inaccurate that macfarlane egg is XD at least NECA did a good job with it. but otherwise your videos are great.
