Yeah, many Gravitron rides have kind of lost their luster that way. In the 80s and early 90s they used to have all kinds of psychedelic lights and would blare the music without fail. And many of the operators actually encouraged laying sideways and going upside down.
xXtexXx 117 I like to do that too. I always have to make sure I have a chill operator who isn’t going to demand for me to stop, or kick people out when they don’t stop.
I rode the regular Rotor when I was a kid, and did not like it, so when I got on my first "Gravitron" ride back in the 90s, I was a little squeamish about it... Turns out that the Gravitron is so enclosed, that if you concentrate on other stuff like "floating" or even "wall scaling" on the angled wall, you soon forget you're in something that is actually spinning around at a pretty decent speed!

This is pretty much a small version of the design for giant space stations. Instead of being 40 feet wide, make it a mile wide, spinning at about 1 rpm, and you've got 1g on the inside of the rim. One other difference is that the Gravitron ride has to combine both its own centrifugal force, and the earth's gravity, which doesn't go away, hence the sloping sides. Whereas a space station in zero-g would have a rim that was fully parallel to the axis.
