    Dont`think I ever saw the Vulcan this close to the crowd line since !

    One way trip to Russia during the cold war. All the fuel was used. If they were lucky enough to drop their payload at the designated target then the only outcome would be a friendly airfield within NATO - if still operational. The white Vulcans were painted to reflect a nuclear detonation flash. A beautiful example can be viewed at the Duxford Air Museum. Interesting fact - during the Falkland war the Vulcan had to mirror the onboard map to reflect a route to Canada then invert the map to Argentina. The Vulcan only had a map for Russia and her block countries.

    Was this filmed at kermington airfield? If so then I think I was there that day. The feeling of the ground shaking as the Vulcan flew overhead is something I'll never forget.

      Yes it was. I only knew it as Humberside Airport though.
      Went to the 1987 & 1988 air shows there
