It's kind of amazing that with as many games as Swery makes, and as fun as a lot of them are, the quality level never actually improves. They're all uniquely raggedy and... not done?... in different ways, but he's just too excited to get them out into the world to let things like polish get in the way. I like Swery, and that feeling would be unqualified if he would just learn from his immediate past.

I have some videos to recommend to anyone with two hours to waste later: Digital Foundry's *Deadly Premonition 2 on Switch: Just How Bad Is Performance?* and Hikikomori Media's *Deadly Premonition RETROSPECTIVE | SWERY FILES - HM* They both compare the various ports of DP1 (they're all shit, play the Xbox 360 original on Xbox One if you can) and the DP2 video doesn't spoil anything except for how embarrassing the performance really is when put in numbers (hint: Zach's apartment renders at 22fps and that's HIGH for this game). The comments have some Unity developers discussing what's causing the framerate to die as well. Apparently it's not just the Switch being about as powerful as the PC I built 12 years ago.
I mean the Switch is fairly famous for having the fps tank when you plug it in to your tv anyway, but this runs worse than a game that came out the year this game takes place in!

This game is so: awful/great/smart/stupid/unexpected all at the same time and I never would've touched this game because the first thing I ever heard about it was that its framerate was hitting single digits at times. But after a fairly serious and straightforward intro the game gave Pat a skateboard and I can't believe it myself but I think this game truly is now my new favorite skateboarding game! Because that's what this game is truly all about, all that detective mystery plot junk is just fluff that was added to serve as a system to provide the player with a way to unlock all them "sweet skating levels!"
So the weirdest thing about all this is the implication that York has not seen or at least doesn't care about the movie ET.
